Elvira suddenly stood up clenching the paper and pen. "I'm going back to my room, Mr. Strange and handsome old uncle!"
Seraphis also stood up and yelled. "It's Seraphis little brat! Stop calling me weird names!"
The sound of the door closing is heard even before he finished his words. Seraphis laughed a little before shaking his head. "This child has changed indeed... she no longer cowers in my presence. She even had the audacity to banter with me and call me weird names. Lost her memories huh..."
Seraphis took the picture book Elvira dropped and lingered his gaze on it a bit before setting it back on the shelf and disappearing.
............
Elvira ran back to her room and locked it. She threw the paper and pen on the bed and started pacing back and forth, feeling listless at her discovery. 'How could I forget? I drew Elvira last...'
She stopped in front of the mirror. "I drew an older version of her, I never knew it would be like this..." She touched the mirror tracing her own image. "It should have been black... the Elvira I drew is black eyes and black hair, but she is indeed a beauty, a cold beauty..."
She withdrew her hands. "Is this my punishment? I took my life and ended up in a world of the game I am supposed to work on. Hah... Am I cursed? Why else would I end up in the body of a villainess of all people?"
Elvira walked to the bed and took the pen and paper and started scribbling. "I need to take note of what I know, if this is really the world of The Moon Feather, I need to know more."
After writing about two pages of note, Elvira frowned. 'Since the game is in the development stage, there is a limit on what I know. I even forgot most of it and those that I recall are not very helpful.'
Elvira browsed the notes she made. "But one thing is for sure, in all the routes that were written, the villainess end is only to die... by execution!"
Elvira sighed, after a few seconds she chuckled before laughing out loud. "Hahaha, I killed myself and lived only to die again! How funny is that!"
Elvira then shook her head. "So why am I here? If I would die anyway?" She took a look at the first part of her notes. She smirked. "Let's test it, my purpose... I do not know the progress of the story and the only ones known to me are the background setting of the characters. My existence as Elvira should have changed the game conditions... but, if it did not change, then that means I could only wait to die."
Elvira stood up and lit a candle, she took one last look at her notes, the first line read 'The Villainess' mother hates her and tried to kill her on her eighth birthday'. After reading it, she burned the notes.
"It is enough to note the first one the rest are unrelated to Elvira, besides this is the earliest development that would happen. If this comes true then, my purpose here is to be executed so the story can move forward, maybe I'll go to the afterlife for real after dying here... I'm right not to expect anything in this dreamlike world heh... If that is so... Then, so be it! I'll die properly this time!" Elvira clenched her fist and nodded her head as if agreeing to her own decision.
Elvira cleaned up the ashes of the burned note and just as she put out the light of the candle a knock is heard. She took several deep breaths and adopted a wait and see attitude as she opened the door. It was Sonya, with around six maids behind her.
"Miss Elvira, don't lock the door when your alone, what if something happens to you and the door is locked? How could we help you quickly?" Sonya fawned over her again while reminding her of the door. Sonya frets over the little things, according to the conversations of other maids she became more cautious and anxious after the drowning incident.
Sonya, led Elvira to sit and presented the maids with her. "Miss Elvira, the madam said that you should choose new maids that will serve you."
Elvira frowned. 'New maids?' "How about the old maids?"
Sonya showed an angry expression. "Miss, those maids are incompetent, they have failed to ensure your safety and did not serve you well. They have been dismissed."
She looked at the seven girls, they looked no more than 16 yrs old at most, she glanced at each of them. Out of everyone, three stood out, the first one had a pretty and likable face, the second one seemed too meticulous, everything is shiny from her glasses down to her shoes. The fourth girl caught her eyes because of her height and upon closer look she looks a bit scary because of her sturdy built.
Elvira sighed and just as she is about to look back to the first girl she noticed that there seems to be a seventh girl. She turned her head a bit and blinked, she really did not sense her presence at all. "Did you just arrive?" Elvira asked as she pointed at the last person.
"No Miss, I have been here from the start." The seventh girl answered politely, then bowed her head low. The other girls held their laughter when the seventh girl spoke. Only two girls did not laugh, the pretty one and the scary-looking one.
Elvira gave a sullen look, she knows the feeling of being ignored very well. She did not want an exceptional maid, she just wants ordinary ones that will not stand out. "I have decided."
Elvira called on Sonya and asked her to come closer, then she whispered to Sonya. After a few moments, Sonya straightened up and pointed at the two people. "You and you remain, the rest can go back to your duties."
The fourth and seventh girls remained and the other girls dumbfoundedly walked out. They clearly did not expect that they will not be chosen but they don't dare question the little Miss.
When the other girls have left, Elvira stood up looked at them in the eyes and asked them. "What are your names?
The tall and scary looking girl spoke first. "Miss, my name is Erna"
The seventh girl then spoke. "Miss, my name is Roza."
Elvira nodded and smiled. "I will be in your care from now on, let's get along."
Roza and Erna were surprised at the words of their Miss and did not know how to respond; they can only mimic her last words. "Yes Miss, let's get along."
............
Roza and Erna were commoners that were kidnapped and were about to be sold in a black market three years ago. It was the Master of the Parall House, Mister Arcadius who rescued them. Out of all the rescued kids, they were the only ones whose parents were killed after the k********g.
They had nowhere to go and it was Mr. and Mrs. Parall who opened their house and employed them so they could start over. They started working at the Parall House since they were 12 yrs. old, and because of the similar origin they had been friends since then.
They were different from other servants, Erna is quite strong for a girl, she is tall and a little muscular, she is always mistaken for a man especially since her brown hair had always been very short.
Roza on the other hand has a freckled plain looking face, her black hair is shoulder length and no matter what she does or wears, she always goes unnoticed by people. When it's time for dinner, she is always forgotten as if she does not exist. It was only Erna who remembers her, and Erna who always notice her. She has always been lacking presence that is why sometimes the other servants bullied her and purposefully forgets about her.
Even today, they both have no expectations of being selected, they are ugly, ordinary, and usually overlooked servants. There is no way they would be chosen especially when Edlyn and Jolein are part of the selection, they had always been the popular ones among the servants.
Edlyn the pretty, and kind servant, and Jolein the mature and meticulous maid. In reality, they are the ones who always lead the bullying with their words and actions. They always claimed Roza and Erna's accomplishments and they were unable to reason with others because they only believed Edlyn and Jolein.
They were quite surprised when the little Miss suddenly chose them; chosen by the Miss out of all others, she looked at them in the eyes as if they are worth the attention. They wanted to cry as her warm words reached their ears. "I will be in your care from now on. Let's get along."
Yes indeed, let's get along...
