Lady Carol thought for a moment.
And then she replied,
“I will tell you what we will do. We will call her ‘Calina’, which I think is a very pretty name. I cannot have her answering every time you call me.”
“You know I don’t want to call anyone but you,” John answered, “not even our daughter. You are so perfect I am always afraid of losing you. That is why I kept you hidden here because I should be afraid that, if one of the many guests from overseas had even a sight of you, you would be kidnapped from me!”
Lady Carol had laughed.
At the same time she was so happy with John that she resented anyone else coming to their tiny cottage.
She had made it very attractive even though it was so small that she wondered if John, as he was so tall, felt confined in it.
