“Aughhhh!” Boe yelled and dropped on the floor.
Dolbycato fired three more shots. Boe tried to raise his head, clenched his hands and kicked the air before his eyes closed.
Jack could not understand any of these. Why did he kill him? It was not like Jack cared for Boe. In the contrary, Jack would want him dead but he had to understand some of the reasons they do the things they do.
Boe opened his eyes and got up. Dolbycato began to laugh.
“I got him on that one!” He laughed. “Damn! He was freaked out…okay. Bullets can’t kill them. I just wanted you to know that I am leaving you in safe hands. If you try to go out of the line, then remember these two. Don’t even think of trying to escape.”
Dolbycato walked out with easy, calculated steps.
Doe turned at Jack. Jack tried to take off his eyes but he restraint from doing that, looked back into the intimidating eyes with a great effort.
“I don’t like you.” Doe said. “I don’t want you to get the code. I prefer you to lose so I will win.”
Jack could not deny the wave of fear that splashed on him, making ways through his pores to make his heart shiver. He could still feel the presence of his hand on his neck.
“I lose when I leave this place without this briefcase and my money. If that is what you call a lose, then I will not lose.”
Doe ignored him and lit a stick of weed.
“You better start work.” Boe said.
Jack got out his laptop, plugged it to a power switch and put it on. Doe moved to a position and set his eyes on the screen.
“You can’t do that.” Jack said.
“Do what?” Boe asked.
“He can’t stand behind me like this. I got passwords to use and all you should expect is the result and not the process.”
Boe gave Jack a mockery glance and laughed.
“They got you on that one again! Okay, let put make it clearer. Doe is standing behind you just to mark his presence and maybe try to hide his zilch knowledge of computers. The truth is we never gave to much damn to technology. We were just raw, original and crude. So we see the light and get the coordinates so we change to new dimension. He doesn’t not know what you are doing.”
Jack thought about it. Well, even if Doe had computer knowledge, it would take a genius to grass some of the things he was doing.
“I can’t work with him over my head. This thing needs a lot of concentration so how do I concentrate when the guy who just told me he hated me is spitting hot air on my back neck?”
“Doe, just move.” Boe said.
Doe moved, happy that Jack was scared of him standing there. He did not want jack to know that he knew nothing about computers. They never had any formal education but learnt all they knew on the wrong side of the street. Doe had never been social. He had no known friend apart from Boe. Boe was more social and that made him get ahead of Doe in certain aspects.
Jack felt relieved. He had time to rummage through. Firstly, How did they get information about him? How did they get to his mother and sister?
They must have had his photograph, upload to Image Match Documentary and linked with his data.
Jack frowned.
Boe said “you have a mother and a sister. Alternate duties will cease.”
Alternate duties!
What the hell was wrong with him? Was he so scared to have forgotten that his data was a fake? A deliberate shift of truth and leading astray.
He had created another Jack Brian years ago. When you search for him, it lead you to the fake Jack and that fake Jack had a mother and a sister who were both nurses working at the same hospital so the switch duties and that brought the tag we run alternate duties.
Boe was referring to the fake family.
Damn! He should have sought the way for an escape if he realized that. He was so scared he thought Boe found his real family.
That was a first relief. His family was safe.
Jack logged into his faux account, opened VM System and checked the number of people that checked his profile within the last twenty four hours.
Seven.
He began to check for a possible match.
He found one! A check was made from Dramington Park. That was close to Karl’s studio. Whoever did that must have been close to them when Boe met him.
He got it.
They got a shot of him, sent it the hacker and he did the Image Match.
The hacker must be working with them. Okay, it was time for the hacked to get hacked.
Jack clicked in his Dinux Super App. He rode on the block channels, decrypted and got in within three minutes.
Anita Blake; Age: 25; Occupation: Accountant.
Jack got her picture, and profile.
Doe was still smoking, while Boe was using his phone.
Jack glanced at Boe.
“Do you by any chance have data on your phone? I am out of data.”
“I am not giving you my phone.” Boe said.
“I just need a Hot Spot.”
“What the hell is Hot Spot?”
For real?
“Okay, can you call your boss? I need data..”
“What exactly do you want?”
“Just connect your phone to my system, there is USB tethering, I get data connection and I log in to get your work done.”
“Whatever” Boe said, “don’t dare you open my pictures.”
“I need you to stand and watch what I will do.”
“Better.”
Jack collected the phone, used a USB to connect it to his laptop, pressed some keys and removed it.
“Thank you.” Jack said.
It was done.
Just a single move and Jack had cloned his phone using one of his customized applications.
Boe moved aside and continued looking at the nude pictures of girls.
Jack removed a mini air pump, injected a liquid into it.
“What is that?” Doe barked.
“LL”
“What the hell is LL?” He asked.
“Laptop Liquid. It helps the hard disc get easy access to the mainframe nodules which under liquid condition tends to dispatch bundle data pack, thereby enhancing the integration of the master image dispenser which…”
“Okay, just do it and save me from the computer jargons. Doe said. “He talks like we don’t know what he is talking about. Laptop Liquid is old school. I knew that right from way back.”
“Tell him bro.” Boe said sarcastically, “you were the best computer kid in the school.”
“Damn you, Boe!” Doe said in a low tone.
“I feel kind of fly...” Boe said, ‘like I am on this Arabian magic mat that makes me fly.”
“I just want to have a good nap. This high is off the hook. But I won’t sleep…I have to watch this punk.”
“The wind of the sky is cooler and the touch is magical. I am on the voyage to the land….” His head bent sideways and his eyes closed.
Doe glanced at him with an effort. He was fighting it hard to keep his eyes open.
‘Don’t sleep, Boe…” he said lazily before he dropped on his back and fell into a deep sleep.
“Ya’all don’t know this dude,” Jack began to rap while packed up his system, “I’m the king of the street so don’t mind if I’m rude. You niggaz got the wrong attitude, and I’m worse in large multitude and I am rolling on high altitude.”
He returned the hard sleeping gas into the secret compartment,
packed his money, added the five million dollars Dolbycato put down, and left.
He was going to meet his family. No alternate duties.
