When Daniel had seen Mackenzie sitting there, looking down at the ground while she gently rocked back and forth on the swing, all of his anger had melted away. He had gone through a rollercoaster of emotions all day. From shock to fear to happiness and then right to anger. He had remained in that anger the rest of the day. After walking to the main road from the restaurant he had called an Uber to come get him. It would be a hefty price to pay to drive him all the way to Oakland from here but he did not care.
