DARK SIDE.

1216 Words
The dark corridor was illuminated by torches that did almost nothing to help. A man young in age, walked through it like it was nothing. His steps echoed, signaling the vast emptiness of the corridor. His walk was majestic and slow, however, it seemed taunting. He gave of an aura of being a hunter out for its prey. His walk suggested that he knew exactly where whatever his mind was on was. His hands casually rested behind his back. And from the poor lighting, one could only make out a few of his features. His hair was in a ponytail, it glowed in the dim light. It was either dyed or had a natural light color. His face couldn’t be made out but one could tell that his smile was a mischievous one. He also had something on top of his head. It was hard to make out what it was. Making a quick turn, he opened a door that he had stooped in front of. A wicked smile spread across his face, exposing his fangs. Without hesitation, he unlocked the door. The door revealed a darker room. “Master,” a little voice squealed excitedly, “you found me.” A little girl emerged from the dark room, excitement written all over face. She looked frail but shockingly full of energy. Hope filled her beady eyes making them sparkle. A pure innocent smile appeared on her face as she looked at the man she referred to as `master’. Her clothes were ancient, forgotten by time itself, yet she seemed comfortable in them. On closer observation, one could tell that she did in fact not belong to this time and age. She had blue eyes that had an icy glow in them. And as she looked at her master, his surroundings began to freeze. Cracking sounds echoing wherever the ice appeared and shuttering what was frozen. Her hair was unkempt, full of leaves, twigs and a few spots had mud. And when she stepped out the room, her height could tell you her age. Nine! What was more shocking was how she carried herself. Her clothes and appearance might have been all over the place but her stance told otherwise. She looked… mature. Her posture was one of authority. Her stare, demanding. Her smile, captivating yet innocent. The young man stated at her amused by what he saw. He had expected her to be scared, cowering in fear and running away at the sight off him. Nevertheless, here she was giving off an intimidating gaze. He was fascinated by her character. She had filled his heart and mind with enthusiasm that he hadn’t realized that he was still holding the door. Immediately, he let go. “Walk with me,” he ordered. “Yes, master.” Their walk led to a well lit room. This part of the house seemed different, as if they had walked right out of a different dimension and into another. They were not startled by this and walked right in. Walking to an armchair, the man sat. His hair was long and its color grey. His clothes was grey as well. White fluffy ears sat on top of his head. His eyes were green and screamed death to whoever looked him in the eye. Perhaps this was what filled him with curiosity. Why hadn’t this little girl died yet? She had always looked him in the eyes, right? What was so special about her? Was she really human? He had a scar that ran from his right eye down to his chin. Luck must have been on his side for him to have escaped with his eye unharmed. From the nature of the room, the young lad’s nature could be seen. A perfectionist. Right from the arrangement of the shelves to the miniature details on the floor. To the arrangement of books on his desk stationed at the center of the room, to the armchair he was sitting on. Just then the little girl walked passed him. She stepped on the chairs arm and hoisting herself on his desk she sat. The young man shot her a dangerous look as soon as landed on the desk. However, she gave him a “pfft” and ignored him completely. “Get down,” he growled. His fangs grew larger. His whites became black and his green eyes glowed as though a for had been lit within them. “Down boy,” she barked back. Her eyes taking on the same action. Only that her pupils were blue and not green. Their staring contest began. It took a few seconds before the man realized that she was teasing him. He sighed and backed down. His features returned to normal and the hair that had began growing on his face disappeared. The little girl chuckled. Satisfied with the reaction she had received. Her features looked to have marred a bit too. Her chest looked fuller. Her eyes sparkled and just as this change had suddenly taken over, it disappeared as well. The young lad looked irritated. How could he not? His clean desk was dirty. His skin itched, veins protruded furiously on his head and hands. The little girl was enjoying the torture she was subjecting her master. Her dress’ color was unrecognizable due to the dirt she was covered in. Her feet were bare. She swung them while humming a song. While looking around, something seemed to be bothering her. They both sat in a comfortable silence. Both thinking of the same or different things. The air around them was calm. However, doe to the little girls strange power, cracking noises followed by shattering sounds could be heard now and then. The young man’s face grew redder by the minute. Anger growing within him gradually. “You never learn, do you?” He had had it with her little tricks and games. He had finally reached his limit. His emotions had broken through the roof and were asking for blood. In an instant, he reached for her throat and began to squeeze. An angry growl escaped his throat again. She chuckled. “You seem to have grown weaker, haven’t you.” She began and he let go of her throat. “ We need to talk.” Silence. “It’s time to rise.” Hearing this words made him stop in his tracks. He looked at her trying to find a loophole in what she had just said. Trying to figure out if she had lied to him. But all he saw was certainty. A look she had only received from her when their true lord was alive. It had been three thousand years since. The time had finally come. For them to be guided once more. Their problems will soon end. And they will be recognized soon as well. Their humiliation and suffering was only a matter of time. However, this also meant that a darkness loomed over their heads. The same darkness that consumed them once before. That which had led to their downfall. This was their last chance to make things right. If they fail, the universe was going to fall with them.
