Chapter 6The day of their date, Summer still couldn’t find the keychain. She tore her apartment apart going through every last nook and cranny; she vacuumed and then emptied the canister and looked through it while sneezing a half-dozen times. She cleaned out the dirtiest of places—like between the fridge and stove, which she was amazed could get so dirty—while also looking through the common areas of her apartment building with a keen gaze. Hallways, recycling, mailroom—all yield no keychain. The only thing Summer gained from this experience was a candy cane someone had left out for the taking in the mailroom and a spotless apartment.
