6. Didn't Go As Planned

I woke up the following day with Lia pacing the room. I leaned over the lofted bed and yawned, “Why do you look anxious?” She immediately stopped and snapped her head towards me. I scrunched my face and climbed down the bed and over to her, “What’s wrong?” I asked again, and she turned to me. “I did something bad,” I c****d my head, wondering what she could have done so bad in the wee hours of the night. I waited for her to continue, and she pointed to my open laptop on my desk, “Lia…” I said to her as I raced over there. I unlocked it and eyed her, wondering how she already knew my password. The screen loaded and showed me an opened email from Daemon. I quickly glanced and saw there was a thread of emails. “LIA!” I yelled at her, “I know, I know. I couldn’t help it!” I looked through them and saw she told him that I would go to the party with him as long as my friend Lia could come. He was ecstatic, and I was embarrassed. “I have so many classes with him; it’s going to be totally awkward!” She apologized again and put her arms around me. “Please can we go? Please, please, PLEASE!” She begged. I shook my head. “Remember, you’re the one who told me he’s a player.” “So? You need a rebound! I’m not asking you to fall in love.” “I don’t even have clothes to wear to a party! I have leggings, jeans, gym shoes, boots, sweaters, and coats! I don’t exactly have party clothes because I don’t party. And the time for me to have a rebound was months ago. I’m completely over Aaron and don’t need to date anyone to feel happy!” She sat contemplating and answered. “You can wear my clothes! I have party clothes! And I’m not saying you need a man; I’m just saying it could be fun.” I sighed. “Fine, we can go! But you owe me.” I said to her, and she wrapped her arms around me tight. “You’re the best roomie ever!” She let go, and we got ready for class. We walked into the first class and saw Daemon and Cory sitting in the spot Lia and I sat in yesterday. I shot her a look, and she shrugged. We sat down next to them, and thankfully professor Hofmeister started class right away. I couldn’t help but notice Daemon’s eye’s on me most of the class. Once class was over, I was going to leave, but Daemon stopped me. “Hey, can I walk you to class?” Lia smiled at me and left to go to her class. “Sure,” I said to him since we’re going to the same room anyway. Thankfully he didn’t say anything about the emails, and we finished the rest of the day without any incident. Despite what some teachers said, we didn’t do anything again today. They warned us to be ready on Monday. At least I didn’t have as much homework as I expected. Plus, Daemon promised to work on the project Saturday since I’m going to be his date tonight. It was moments before the last bell rang, and we could leave intro to fighting. Lia wants us to get back as soon as possible so we can get dressed and she can do my hair and makeup. I never wear makeup or do my hair, so she’s going to have to help me a lot. As soon as the bell rang, Daemon came over to us, “I can’t wait to see you tonight,” he said as he picked up my hand and kissed the top of it. I didn’t know what to do as every girl in the room stared at us. Ashley was staring daggers at me as Daemon left. Lia and I started going when Ashley came up to us. “Stay away from my man!” She yelled and shoved me as she walked by us. Lia was about to say something, but I stopped her. It’s not worth my time or effort to fight with her. Lia was pissed, but I got her to agree to walk back to the room to get ready. She pulled out a skimpy red dress and held it up to me, “It’s too short on me, but you’re short, so it should fit.” I took the dress from her and put it on. It clung tightly to what slight curves I had since Lia is much skinnier than me. I was practically falling out of the dress. I thought the dress would clash with my red hair, but even though it barely fit me, the colors matched wonderfully. I stepped out of the bathroom and shook my head. “It’s a little too tight.” “Oh. My. God. You look so HOT! If I were gay, I’d jump you right now.” I adjusted my underwear a bit and looked in the mirror. “You can see my panties!” “Then don’t wear any,” She said with a wink as she applied her lipstick. “I don’t know, Lia.” She stood up and led me to the chair she was sitting in, in front of the mirror. “You look great, I promise. I wouldn’t lie, and I’d kill to have those curves.” She started styling my hair, and I have to admit, she did a great job. The curls were big and round and bounced when I moved my head. She only applied a light amount of makeup since I never wear any. I was surprised by how I looked; I had never really gotten done up, not even for school dances. I never went since it was all too expensive. “Now what? I don’t have shoes to wear.” I wiggled my bare feet in front of me as she walked away. “Here,” She handed me a pair of black stilettos that were at least 4 inches tall. At least we have the same shoe size, so these fit. “Let’s go!” She said after taking a few selfies by herself and with me. After a few minutes of walking to their place, I got the hang of wearing my heels. We finally got there and saw a huge line. “It’s going to take so long to get in! I knew I should have worn a coat.” You’d think with how much magic is around this place; they could keep the temperature comfortable. But nope. We have to endure this weather. “Did you not read any of the emails?” She chastised me. And no, I didn’t. I was too embarrassed about what she might have said as me. “He said to go right to the bouncer; we’re on the list.” She dragged me to the front and told the bouncer who we were. The huge, gruff man told me Daemon has been expecting me. I told him thanks, and we both went in. “Woah, this place is amazing!” Lia said with stars in her eyes. “Let’s go get a drink!” She said, and I took her to the kitchen. There had to be at least 200 mystics in here. There was a DJ, a full bar with a bartender, and servers serving food on trays. Who throws a party like this? I was expecting to see at least one mystic doing a keg stand, but instead, there’s beer on tap. “There’s Daemon,” Lia pointed to the dancefloor, and my stomach dropped. I was suddenly filled with rage and felt like I was going to explode as anger fueled me.
