Much to Lia’s dismay, I spent the entire weekend setting up my new phone and reading ahead a few chapters for each class. I texted Daemon to thank him since not only did he get me the phone, he’s footing the monthly bill too. I could tell I was on his account when I saw our phone numbers were only a couple of digits apart. I gave my number to my brother and parents, but I didn’t tell them a boy gave it to me. Instead, I told them the school learned I didn’t have one, so they gave it to me as part of my scholarship. They were proud, but I didn’t feel good about lying to them.
