After everyone had left, closing the door as Jax and Adam walked out, I turned to Morgan who was lying on the sofa smiling at me. I walked over to where she lay and sat down. She automatically shifted so that her back was pressed against my chest. I wrapped my arms around her abdomen, kissing her neck as I rested my chin on her shoulder. I sighed in contentment. I could stay like this forever, with Morgan wrapped up in my arms. The only thing missing was our kid running around.
"Babe?" I whispered. "Mmm, yes my love?" She said turning around in my arms so that she was facing me. "What do you think about kids? Is it something you would want?" I asked her. "Um, I haven't really given it any thought. I used to be terrified that Mason would force me to bare his child. He had used other girls in the pack like that but none carried to term. You need someone with the Alpha gene to carry an Alpha's child, and I knew that it would have just been a matter of time before he realized that I was the only viable option." As she was saying this my blood was boiling with anger.
I was lost in thought, thinking about all the ways I would make him suffer, make him pay with his blood. I was pulled out of my malicious thoughts by Morgan's soft hand on my cheek. I looked at her beautiful face and smiled. "But to answer your question." She continued, "I would want a child of our own, to nurture, to love and cherish. Just like I do my Alpha, my mate." She said sweetly, cupping my cheeks with both of her hands before leaning in and kissing me slowly, so slow it was almost torture.
"I love you Morgan Bane, my Luna, my mate. I love you." I whispered against her lips before pressing my own firmly against hers. I stood up, Morgan wrapped securely in my arms, her legs wrapped firmly around my waist. I walked towards the bedroom, and placed Morgan on the bed, covering her with my body pressed into her own. We kissed passionately and fiercely, our kisses filled with intense need and desire for one another.
Our night was filled with the constant fulfilment of our needs and ignition of our desires, both of us finally falling asleep wrapped in each other's arms, legs tangled together, and love overflowing between us. We slept contently and spent a night filled with pleasure.
I woke up at the crack of dawn before the first light had a chance to touch the windows. I got up, careful not to wake up Morgan, and went into the bathroom. I turned the shower on, getting in once that water heated up. I stood in the shower, hands pressed against the wall in front of me, letting the water beat against my shoulders and back, trying desperately to loosen the tense muscles but knowing full well that whatever tension the beating water does relieve will come back in full force before the day is done. Twenty minutes later I got out and dried myself before wrapping the towel around myself and padding out of the bathroom as quietly as I could.
I got dressed in dark blue jeans and a grey long-sleeved shirt. I made my way out of the bedroom, grabbing my hunting jacket as I went. I sat down on the sofa when I had reached the lounge, successful in preventing waking my mate up from her content slumber. I slipped on a thick pair of socks and then my boots before walking out the door.
I made my way through the pack square, reaching the packhouse in a matter of minutes. The grounds were quiet as not many members rise at five in the morning. The only place that was remotely busy was the packhouse. The packhouse held the kitchens and dining hall as well as a large boardroom and various offices for the generals and Alpha. All the generals were in the dining hall as well as a few pack members and elders. I made my way up the long flight of stairs and down the hall towards my office at the end.
Once inside I made myself a cup of coffee before sitting down behind my desk and getting a head start on everything I had missed while I was gone. Six repair requests, sixteen emails from our aligned packs, and eight letters containing urgent funds, disputes and general pack matters occupied the start of my morning. Once the thirty matters were dealt with and actions delegated I stood up, noticing that I had been busy for three hours and it was now eight, I decided to make my way down to the dining hall for breakfast and more coffee.
When I walked into the dining hall I noticed Morgan, Benji, Jess and my parents talking animatedly amongst themselves. I weaved passed crowded tables, everyone greeting me as I walked passed them on my way towards my family, their conversation drifting towards me along with their laughter. Once I reached their table I pulled a chair from an empty table and sat down in the space between Morgan and Benji. "Morning Alpha." Everyone greeted as Morgan leaned in and kissed my cheek sweetly, "Morning mate." She whispered causing me to smile at her.
"How's work going so far Cass?" My father asked just as a plate of food was placed in front of me along with a steaming mug of coffee. "Yeah, all good so far. I've seen to all issues and concerns that came up while we were away as well as sent correspondence to our allied packs. A meeting will be held in two days to discuss the threat. I have also set up meetings with four generals to discuss pack matters in association with the threat." I said as I tucked into my breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausages and toast.
The remainder of breakfast was filled with light conversation. As I downed the last dregs of coffee I announced that I had to get back to work. I kissed Morgan before leaving, heading back to my office where a pile of work awaited me. Once I was in my office I made another cup of coffee and settled into my chair in order to dwindle the amount of work that needed to be finished before the day ended.
Two hours later I heard a knock at my door. I looked up from the report I was reading, noticing generals Hayden and Marion standing at the open entrance. "Alpha." They greeted. "Come in generals," I said standing up as they walked in. we made our way to the large mahogany table that stood next to the wall-length bookshelf on the other side of the room.
A large, detailed map of the pack grounds was already laid out, covering most of the surface area of the table. We gathered around it so that we were all able to see the intensely detailed map. The three of us talked about where our weakest points of attack were, repositioning, replacing and adding pieces to the map. We discussed how best to defend the pack as well as funnel enemies where we had the best advantage. We discussed strategies for attack and defence and fortification of all defenceless areas and buildings we would use.
Four hours later, we had come up with solid points of entry, a proper defence and attack strategy as well as fortification plans that would need to be discussed with our construction team. "If either one of you have any more ideas about what was discussed don't hesitate to come to me," I said as I walked them towards the door. "Yes, Alpha." They replied as they walked out. I made another cup of coffee before going back to study the pack map. I was so engrossed in my thoughts that I didn't hear the knock at my door. "Alpha?" Someone called out, shocking me out of my thoughts.
I looked up at the two people standing in the doorway. "General Phoenix, general Lennon, please come in," I said making my way back to my desk as the two generals sat down. I sat in my chair before addressing them. "Generals Hayden, Marion and I have discussed fortification ideas that I would like to discuss with you. I would like your expert advice and suggestions on the matter as well as the tactical plans for attack and defence" I said. The discussion took a little over three hours as the three of us ironed out any potential flaws and weaknesses Hayden and Marion overlooked.
Once the meeting was concluded, Phoenix and Lennon made their leave, allowing me time to finally be alone and ponder everything. I would need to arrange a meeting with the four generals to finalize everything, I thought to myself, making a mental note of it. I sat down at my desk to attend to any pressing matters that had come up while I was busy with the generals. When I was done and mentally drained I looked at the clock on my wall, noticing that it was already half past six.
I packed everything up, switching off the electronics and then the lights as I made my way out of the office. The pack house was silent, everyone had already gone home to their families an hour ago. I walked out, eager to make my way home to my mate.
