Abducted by the Mafia Heir
Alessia often saw tattooed men in her house. Many times, she came home to find them talking with her stepmother.
Unfortunately, she had a stepmom. Her mother died when she was just four, but she remembered it vividly. She had a clear memory of her mother's passing. What saddened her more was that her mom was still alive and bedridden due to Rheumatic Heart Disease, her dad already had an affair with Stella.
Stella was about eight years older than her father. It wasn’t obvious, though, as Stella was attractive and had a youthful face. She didn't look her age, to be precise. She had a son, a man twelve years older than Alessia. Stone was already thirty-two, and she was only twenty. Stella wasn’t lucky with her son because he was always a source of trouble, both at home and for his own mother. Ever since he was young, he had been a troublemaker, often getting himself involved in problematic situations. Stella had been always called by the principal and disciplinarian in school.
Stone chose a bad crowd and bad circle of friends. He acted like a gangster. He hung out with idle people who, Stella thought, were studying at a private school, only to find out that he was just skipping classes and loafing around.
Alessia thought Stella would treat her better due to Stone’s stubbornness, but she was wrong. Stella was never close to her. She wasn’t cruel, but they didn’t interact much. Stella only showed warmth toward her while her dad was still alive. But when her dad died, her stepmother’s true nature came out. Alessia often wondered why it seemed like most stepmoms were unkind. Her father had life insurance worth five hundred thousand pesos. They didn’t have to spend anything on the funeral, coffin, or burial. All the money was in Stella’s control. Alessia’s inheritance was also under Stella’s guardianship. She had a million pesos in the bank, but it was entrusted to Stella, and she couldn’t access it until she turned twenty-five. It was her father's fault.
Stella would often hint that her money was already spent on her schooling, that nothing was left. But how could that be? She was studying at a university with no tuition fees. She was pursuing a degree in Education, and her only capital was her intelligence. She was a scholar. She passed the entrance exam, which granted her a spot at the only prestigious university in their province. Why was her money supposedly gone?
Yet, she didn’t question it. Darius, her boyfriend, had promised her that even if she couldn’t access her father’s inheritance, he would support her in the future. Darius was a cop. His rank was still low, but it would eventually rise in due time because of promotion. He had just recently completed six months of training, basic training with salary of course. And in the enxt few years, he'd step higher.
Currently, Darius was stationed in Masbate, but he was working on getting reassigned to Daet so they could be together. It was unfortunate that shortly after she accepted him as her boyfriend, he received a call to begin the training, leaving them with little time to spend together. Their interactions were mostly through video calls and calls whenever possible, although it was rare during his training period. But she stayed faithful, and it worked out.
Her life was peaceful as Stone was working in Manila. But recently, the man came home, and they found out he wasn’t actually employed ever since. Even if he was, he spent all his money gambling. She didn’t know why he came back so suddenly, as if he was troubled and worried about something.
Then these strange men started appearing in their home soon after Stone arrived, and she didn’t know why they gave her chills, especially when they stared at her one time she caught sight of them. She reported this to Darius, who told her to always hide in her room when the men were around and to always remember to lock the door. She followed his advice, but now she wanted to learn more.
She glimpsed Stone pacing on the indoor balcony while Stella was on the porch, talking with three men who looked like they were part of a cult.
“Damn it!” Stone cursed, almost in a whisper, “Help me quickly. I’m dead if this isn’t fixed. We’re talking billions here!” he said, which made her frown.
Billions? What could this man have done to be dealing with that amount?
“If Venom kills me, I’ll make sure to rat you out before I die. I’ll tell him you were the one who ordered the theft in his company.”
Alessia blinked and clutched her chest. Stone stole money?
“You son of a—!” he cursed angrily, then turned off the device. He harshly rubbed his face using his palm.
He was so desperate and looked troubled.
Slowly, she moved away from the door of her room, intending to leave, but Stone’s eyes suddenly flew toward her.
She immediately hid and went to her bed, chest tightening. She had left her room door slightly open, but it didn’t matter now. Her heart was racing. Did this mean the men around were debt collectors? And if they were dealing with billions, they could indeed kill Stone, and she and Stella might even get caught up in it.
Alessia's hands shook as she hugged her smartphone. She wanted to call Darius but couldn’t. She would pretend to be asleep in case Stone checked her room and noticed she was awake, suspecting she overheard his conversation.
Then, she nearly gasped when she felt a hand on her head, caressing her.
It was Stone.
She wanted to cry but couldn’t. He kept stroking her head, then stopped after a few minutes. When she felt no further movement, she opened her eyes, terrified.
She glanced at the door. It was now locked. She breathed a sigh of relief. Stone hadn’t touched her in any improper way or lascivious way. Even though he was messed up, he had never harassed her even when they were younger.
Then she typed a message to Darius on her phone, hoping he’d read it soon despite their worlds feeling so far apart.
“Love, Stone stole billions. That’s why those men are here. I’m scared. It’s billions. I hope you read this right away, love,” she texted, then immediately deleted it.
Darius calling.
Her heart leapt with joy when she saw it. Thank goodness her boyfriend had read her message.
“Love,” she whispered when she answered.
“Love, leave there immediately. Don’t hesitate. Find somewhere else to go. I’ll help you,” he told her urgently, but her relief turned to dread as her phone was snatched away.
“Who are you talking to?” Stone asked, holding her phone.
Alessia reacted quickly, grabbing her phone back.
“Give that back! Why are you in my room?!” she asked tearfully.
He didn’t take the phone back, just looked at her confidently with his hands in his pockets. He stared at her, his eyes landing on her breasts.
“Stone!” she yelled in anger, then he looked at his own phone.
He grinned.
“When things go your way… One photo of those big mounds of yours and my problems are solved,” he said, shaking his head, making her swallow.
What did he mean? She covered her chest and backed away.
“W-What are you saying?”
“Pack up, and the day will notend with you still here,” he ordered.
“And where should I go? This is my house! I’m not leaving! If anyone should leave, it’s you!” she replied angrily.
She wouldn’t let him win. Her father had left the house to her. It was her father and mother’s legacy. No one had any right to it but her—not Stella and not Stone.
“I’ll report you to the police!”
Stone laughed like he had won a battle, “And to which police? Your dumb cop boyfriend? Report me! I’ll even go with you so you can see what Darius can do! Your virginity will damn save my ass from being buried six feet under, sis. Get it together,” he said again as if it were nothing.
She was so shocked amd wasn't even able to move. What?
There was a knock at the door, and she turned, her eyes filling with tears.
Stone casually opened it, and to her shock, the men from downstairs were now at her door.
Stella was also there, watching.
“It’s about time you repay the debt for all I’ve done taking care of you, Alessia. This is just how life works. Now it’s your turn to help Stone,” Stella told her.
“I owe you nothing! This is my father’s house. Everything here is mine, and I can manage alone. Help with what?” Alessia replied, bewildered, her eyes darting.
“You will be auctioned. You’ll repay the money I embezzled to the Boss, when they buy you for a high price. If you’re worth only a small amount, then whatever’s left will be my remaining debt.”
Boss?
She froze. Tears fell from her eyes. Auction. She heard it clearly. She was being sold. To whom? Was it like in movies, where old, unattractive men bought girls like her who were young and inexperienced?
“You understand now?” Stone raised his eyebrows, “I don’t need to explain further. That was just to enlighten you a bit. You can go with them now.”
“You bastard!” she yelled at her stepbrother before making a dash for the door.
She shoved past the men blocking the doorway, their bodies were like iron, hard and immovable.
“Alessia!” Stella shouted after her, but she ran toward the stairs, nearly stumbling in her hurry.
She fled, and to her surprise, no one chased her. She had no direction, no idea where to go, but at that moment, she would hide anywhere, even in the hollow of a tree, just to escape these monsters.
