The police made no progress in the Etherington case; how could they? There was no murder weapon and crucially no witness to the crime or record of anyone entering or leaving the victim’s office. The pressure on the constabulary to solve the mystery was less than usual in this type of atrocity due to the unpopularity of fracking at the time.
