Chapter 1
The cold wind was howling and low writing mist hung in the dark skies as moon hid behind the shroud of darkness. He made sure there was no one else as he ran his gaze over the graveyard. Just the stone angels and the lonely dead. He stiffened when he felt her familiar presence like cold fingers brushing his spine. It wasn't fear but just how his living flesh reacted to the dead. She appeared before his eyes as she always did, shrouded in dark except for the dim eerie light surrounding her making her appear as nothing but a mere shadow , still imprisoned still trapped . She was saying something but it only came out as muffled whispers . He strained his ears in concentration as the serpentine dark smoke which had skillfully been sliding between the gaps of his fingers in habit froze " She's coming" She whispered " Things for you will change forever my son , follow the shadows" These were the last words his mother has said as the vision vanished into a puff of smoke. His forehead creased....... Are the predictions about her true? But only time will reveal the answers to him and to...... The very thought of them made fury roar in his veins and the dead silence of the night filled with a fierce hiss. *** Aril lay snug in bed though her alarm had gone off fifteen minutes ago, " Wake up Aril, I don't have the entire day to do this" Laurel was yelling as she pulled away her blanket yet she continued to ignore and stubbornly lay with her eyes closed. " Fine" Laurel huffed. Making Aril wake up was a huge task since she slept like dead. " If you don't wake up in the next five seconds I will use other methods on you" Aril's eyes flew open and she bolted upright in her bed with horror clear on her face " No, don't you dare" Laurel's methods of waking her up were really "persuasive "as the older sister liked to put it . And her latest method was throwing cold water in Aril's face. As much as Aril loved her older sister she hated her 'heartless ' methods. A satisfied Laurel smirked " Good girl, now get ready for school" "I'll strangle you one day" Aril grumbled as she got out of her bed. By the time she took shower and blew dry her hair Laurel was out for her office and Aril took the opportunity of sneaking into her room to 'borrow' a a pair of her cute sandals. Grabbing a sandwich she got into her rusty old pick up truck that had belonged to her dad but she loved the truck despite its appearance and engine that tended to roar each time she stated it . As she drove towards the school taking occasional bites off her sandwich she rolled down the windows though winter wasn't here yet the wind had bite in it and she remembered the various times her father used to make hot chocolate for her during winters, it was her favorite drink but after her father's death she never drank hot chocolate again. She just couldn't She didn't remember much about her mother , who had passed away when Aril was three and since then it was only their father who took care of both the girls, her and Laurel. It was a vicious blow to both them when a couple of years ago their father had died due to cancer. She and Laurel were each others only family left and despite the way Laurel woke her from sleep most of the days and the threats Aril grumbled at her in retaliation they loved each other deeply. She got out of her truck after parking it in the school parking lot . The other advantage of having an old rusty car was that it blended in perfectly with all the other cars in the parking lot. Except , The two shiny beautiful cars that no matter how far they were parked drew everybody's eyes to themselves like magnets Beautiful and amazing car magnets. One was a white Leferrari and the other a black Aston martin A good sight for the eyes.
