FREYA
Hunter pulled up to the ice-cream shop and I was surprised. The shop was small and cozy, nothing I expected a billionaire to visit.
He held the door open for me and once I entered, the smell of sweet treats filled my lungs.
A middle aged woman walked to the counter and a big bright smile appeared on her face.
“Hannah, hi.” Hunter said
He returned her smile with an equal amount of happiness.
“So lovely to see you Hunter.”
They were obviously on first name bases so they knew each other.
Her gaze landed on me and her eyebrows shot up.
“Is she the one?.”
Hunter quickly turned to me and gave a nervous laugh. It was so out of character to see him nervous.
“This is Freya, my business partner.”
“Oh, welcome sweetie, what would you like to have?.”
My heart warmed from the motherly affection in her voice.
I ran my fingers through my hair and stepped towards her.
“Cake batter flavoured ice cream would be nice. And also, red velvet cupcakes.”
The smile didn't leave her face as she wrote down my order.
“The usual?” she asked Hunter and he nodded
He guided me to one of the chairs. As we sat, another couple with their child walked in and my mind fell to the baby in my tummy.
“Freya, are you okay?.”
My head shot up as his fingers grazed my hand. I should have pulled away but I didn’t, I let him touch me.
I'd been so curious to know how his touch was but all of a sudden, my mind stopped working. I wanted to record everything so I can play it back later.
He ran his thumbs in circles on the inside of my palms, a warm feeling buzzed through me as we both stared into each other's eyes.
I could almost touch his soul.
The spell broke as Hannah came and dropped our ice-cream on the table. He had chocolate.
I grabbed my bowl and plunged the spoon inside.
“Careful so you don't get brain freeze.” he said softly, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. He was teasing me and watching him do it made butterflies float around my belly.
I swear I felt a single sweat run down my back. The ice cream tasted good but it would have been better if I was really paying attention to it. My mind was whirling, as if someone had conjured a tornado inside.
When we were done, he wanted to pay but Hannah insisted that it was on the house. She smiled at me as if I was her daughter and at him as if he was her son. I like her.
When we got to the car, Hunter pulled out an envelope and my heart skipped a beat. What's with him and envelopes?
“This came in the mail today,” he said, handing it over to me.
I felt my fingers tremble a little as I took it from him, I didn't know what it was.
“A letter?.”
He nodded.
“A letter from a doctor I know. He's the only one I trust and he lives in England. He'll be able to look after you.”
“Oh….”
“Freya, I heard you vow to get your revenge on Cassian and the rest of your family and if it's revenge you want, I will support you till the end. I will help you till you're satisfied but ....”
“But…” I said urging bike to continue
He looked outside the window.
“Revenge is a long way from home. I’ve watched people spiral out of control. I've watched people lose their minds over and over again all in the name of revenge. I have a plan that would help you with your revenge, if you say yes, we'll take my jet to England tomorrow.”
“Yes.” I said without losing a second to wait.
He turned to look at me, his eyes devoid of emotion as always. Then he nodded once, I was getting my revenge and he was helping me do it.
