It was an option, to take it slow, but in the moment, he couldn’t help his eager heart. His hands came up to cup her cheeks, settling mostly at the base of her jaw on either side to hold her face in place. It seemed like the most romantic thing he could think of at the time but when he had her there, he couldn’t help but feel like he was being awkward.
“You can’t be serious,” she replied, and he wasn’t sure if it was to him holding her as he was or if it was his admission. “You’re gorgeous and wonderful, Daniel. How could no one be interested? I…” she shook her head out of his hold, looking down at herself in defeat. It made his mouth run dry.
