Chapter 4: Just One Night

956 Words
“Who are you?” One of the guys who were surrounding me asked. He must have been annoyed that someone actually disturbed what they wanted. “I’m her boyfriend. I am asking you to let her go.” The guy from the car earlier said. As I think about it, I never even got his name. And… BOYFRIEND?! Since when did he become my boyfriend?! What the hell is this guy talking about? “And what if we don’t?” The guy who was holding my right hand said. I can feel the tension between them. Why can’t they just let me go? Do they really want to get into trouble? The guy that was holding my left hand whispered something to the guy on my right. I couldn’t hear it but I think it had something to do with my “boyfriend” being rich and that they can get money from him. “Give us a thousand bucks and we’ll let her go. That’s your car right there, right? You look freaking rich. Just give us the money and we’ll be on our way.” The guy on my right said cockily. A thousand bucks? I almost laughed. That’s too much! He wouldn’t pay, for sure. He doesn’t even know me for Pete’s sake! “What if I don’t?” I knew it! Why would he pay, right? Even if he’s freaking rich, he isn’t obliged to do that. And a thousand bucks for me? Hell, that’s way too much! The three guys laughed and mocked me. “Is that your boyfriend? Are you sure he is? He won’t even spend a penny on you, you poor babe. If I were you, I’d leave him and be with—“ He wasn’t able to finish what crap he was saying. The guy from the car punched him which made him fall to the pavement. His two friends ran away as soon as they saw how hard the guy from the car punched their friend. I was even stunned. How the hell did he do that? I saw blood on the guy’s lips. Jeez, he did punch him so hard! He was about to punch him once again but he held his hand up. “No, no, please, I’m sorry,” He said as he got up and ran away as if his ass was burning. p***y! They acted as if they were all tough but then they were afraid of being punched. They should really stop going around and taking it on easy prey. I watched them leave. I was laughing at them. How dare they do that to me? They were all cowards! “I’m glad that you find this entertaining.” The guy from the car said. I hint at a bit of annoyance in his voice. “I’m sorry, I just couldn’t help it. Are you alright? Does your hand hurt?” I remembered that he just punched a guy square in the face. It must have hurt on his end. “No, not even a little,” He said. “Come on, you’re coming with me.” My eyes grew wide. No, not the police thing again, we’re over that. “What?” He noticed that I was having doubts about going with him. “No,” I said. “What do you mean? Would you rather want to stay here and wait for those bastards to come back? Haven’t you had enough for today?” I didn’t know why but he sounded so concerned. Well, I was concerned about myself too. Awful things happened to me tonight. “You seemed to attract trouble too much.” “No. It-s just… I j-just…” I was lost for words and he was clearly waiting for me to say anything. “I can’t let you take me to the police.” He smirked. “Who said we’re going to the police?” “We’re not?” I fired back. What does he mean? “I’ll take you home with me.” What? Go home with him? He said that as if it was an obvious thing. Why would he take me home with him? Is he planning something? “What?” I furrowed my brows. “Don’t act as if you don’t need my help. You have nowhere to go and nowhere to spend the rest of the night. I have a huge house with a couple of guest rooms that you could stay in until you figure things out.” He was right. I had nowhere to go. But… should I go with him? I don’t know him. Why would I even go to his house? What if he is a serial killer? What if he would do something bad to me? There were just too many what-ifs in my mind. “Can I ask you something?” In the end, I managed to ask. If we are doing this then I should know his name. That way, he won’t be a stranger anymore. “What?” He said. “What’s your name?” We’ve been talking for a while ever since earlier but we I didn’t catch his name. “Vannder Danes,” He simply said. His name sounds rich and it suits his aura well. “And you are?” “Arrendayle Cortes,” It felt weird saying my complete name but I just copied what he did. “Well, what do you say? Would you rather stay here for the night or be my guest?” I nodded and looked him straight in the eyes. “Just one night, Mr. Danes, one night only.” “Whatever you say,” He smirked. Well, here goes nothing.
