6. An intruder in our house

970 Words
Fang's POV I skipped the funeral, I found that kind of things very depressing, plus my father was the one that had some kind of strange fixation on the dead woman. I stayed behind, still getting everything ready for our visitors, some of them would be arriving ahead of the rest, and I wanted everything to be perfect for them. When the rest of my siblings came back, they were all in a bad mood, and I was glad I hadn't been there for whatever had them in that mood.  "What's going on?" I asked Fiona. "The Alpha issued an order," she said, and by her tone I knew that father had asked for something none of them wanted to do. "That orphaned omega b***h will be living here, and we have to be on our best behavior with her.  We have to 'respect her pain' and be nice to her," she complained, obviously angry about having to play nice with her.  I knew why they were angry, but she had just lost her mother, and I knew first hand how painful that could be.  "Well, she just lost her mother, I guess there's no harm in being polite to her for a couple of days," I said. "I swear that if she so much as looks at me funny, I will beat her up, no matter what dad says. I won't tolerate no disrespect," Fred said, and I knew he wasn't kidding, he would do it.  Fiona and the rest were really angry, but once said girl arrived, it was clear none of them would have any reason to pick a fight with the omega b***h, she was almost catatonic, not even reacting as people moved around her. She went to a corner and sat there, staring at nothing. I felt kind of bad for her, she had lost her mother after all, I was too young to remember much about her, but what I remembered clearly was the pain of losing someone so dear to you. I forgot all about the intruder as I prepared for Ax's arrival.  He arrived the next day and I was glad to have something to distract me from painful memories.   “Welcome to my Pack,” I greeted Ax as he arrived. Rage and his group would be the last ones to come, since he was traveling with his sister, but that was okay, I knew she wasn't my mate and didn't care about her that much, but Rage was an important ally and I had to welcome all of them. Still, having a few days with Ax and then the others, without a she-wolf to cramp our style was a good thing. “Thanks for having me,” he said, looking around. He had a great poker face, so I wasn’t sure what he was thinking. “I was looking forward to being here and getting to know where you are from.” I caught a few glimpses of the girl working with the others, cooking and cleaning, as I entertained my guest. I didn't have a chance to talk to her, nor did I care to. “You are very welcome, please, make yourself at home, anything you need, you just have to ask,” I caught the girl watching us, and noticed Ax watching her with interest, but he never asked and I didn't offer any information about her. “Thanks, I let you know if I need anything,” he said, very politely. I couldn’t tell what he thought of the place, but I did notice he was eyeing the females with interest. I never had any issues getting women into my bed, but Ax was an outsider, and I guessed most weren't interested in him since he wasn't part of the Pack and couldn't do anything for them. Dad always said that bitches were controlled by their need of finding strong males to do things for them, something I had seen first hand with the long queue of women that were always after my father.  I had a few come to me, mostly expecting me to get things for them, and it didn't bother me to have them around, but I hated their attitude. Time went by very fast, one by one they started arriving, and just a couple of days before the full moon, the last group, Rage's group, was finally here. I was glad to have all the group come together, I felt like everything was right. I was eager to impress them, and happy to have them here. I hadn't realized how much I missed the camaraderie until I saw the group together. They weren't exactly the same I had started the journey with, some had already found their mates, and a couple had joined since, but we were all a united group, sharing the same goal, to find our True Mates. Some of them truly just wanted to find their other half, the ones that would make them happy, but for most of the alphas it was also about securing our positions.  An Alpha needed a mate by his side, only strong Alphas like my father could hold their positions without a partner by their sides.  In all of my travels, he was the only Alpha I had seen without a mate.  Of course, my father had his lady friends to keep him both entertained and happy, but it was not the same.  Just another sign of the strength of our Pack.  I knew that I still had a long way to go to take over the Pack after my father, but securing a mate was just the first of many steps I would have to take to make in my journey to become the Alpha of the Pack.
