10. Explaining things

1189 Words
Fang’s POV After the fight, I had to take the others outside, they were all very angry and needed to burn some energy, even the betas. I didn’t like the way they were looking at me, I could tell they were judging me and my Pack, the opposite of what I wanted. It was the worst outcome I could imagine, and I needed to show them, to prove to them that Melissa’s accusations were false. I just needed to wait for them to calm down so I could properly explain to them the situation. We shifted  to our wolf forms and started running.  We were alphas with strong instincts, so we needed to keep our distance from each other unless we wanted to start a fight.  Once our wolves burned enough energy we made our way back, I knew they had cooled off enough for us to have a conversation without fear of trying to tear each other off.   "Where's your sister?" I asked Rage once I realized she was no longer with us.   "She decided to take a detour, don't worry about her.  Tell us a little more about that girl," he said, he was calm, but a calm Rage was even worse than a mad one, and I could tell the others were still a little on edge even after our run.  "I don't know much about her, okay?  She has been here since before my father took over the Pack, I think she is the daughter of the former Alpha.  Dad said that he took over because the Pack was sick and weak after the war.  He came to visit a friend, and saw that it was wrong.  He defeated the Alpha easily.  From what I remember, he offered to take the Alpha's mate and daughter, to help them, since they were both weak and broken, but Melissa's mom rejected him.  It's not as bad as they say, dad was only trying to help and they are just ungrateful bitches that never got over losing their position.  And Melissa and her mother always acted as omegas, from as long as I remember." "She didn't look or feel like an omega to me," s***h said, "and I certainly wouldn't mind having her for a mate." "She is nothing but trouble, and everything she was saying, those are lies." I was getting angry just thinking about it, she had ruined our reputation with her accusations. "You know this is something that we will have to report, right?" Rage asked. "You can't be serious.  That's something we have to deal internally, we don't need other packs getting in our business," I was getting angry, but I didn't want to end our alliances before they could start.  "If what she said is true, she will be gone anyway, she will be someone else's problem very soon, and, well, once she starts making trouble in another pack you all will see who was right." "I don't know," Ax said.  "She didn't feel like a liar, but I don't know her and I know you.  You may be a little rough around the edges, and full or yourself, but you have never lied to us.  For the time being, I will keep an open mind.  Although, I would mind it either if she turns out to be my True Mate, she may even be worth the trouble if she is as bad as you say," he added with a smirk, and I could see the rest of the group agreeing with the sentiment.   I didn't get it.  Why were they so crazy about her, she was so insignificant.  But just as I was thinking that, I had to admit that under all the layers of clothes and her attitude, was a pretty girl.  I didn't care about the attitude, but she was at least good to look at.  "Look, if you want to take her out of our hands, you are welcome to do it.  Well, as long as she doesn't find her mate, because if she finds him here, well, then she will have to get over herself and stay here." "Or the both of them can go away.  If she is so determined to leave, well, there is nothing to be done.  Most wolves try not to leave their packs because of the pain of breaking the bond and because not all of the packs easily accept new members, but an alpha like her, a pack with a strong enough leadership will actually want to have someone like her working as an active beta," Claw said.  "You know my Pack, my father's beta is only a beta in title, but an alpha in spirit." "Yeah, they even say that in the UberPack, they have no gammas, only a few omegas, they mostly have alphas and betas, that's why they are so powerful," John supplied.  "It's hard to believe that everything they say about the UberPack is true, there's no way so many alphas can work together, their instincts are too strong for long term collaborations," I said, and I found that I was only repeating what my father had said.  "We had a contingent from the UberPack visit us once," Claw said, "there was trouble within one of the neighboring packs and they went to talk to my father to ask for his opinion.  Their aura was so f*****g strong that half our Pack was frozen and even my father had trouble holding their gazes.  I then found out that they were just enforcers.  You know enforcers are normally composed of betas and a few gammas.  Strong packs have only betas as their enforcers, but those were actual alphas, and strong ones." "I'm not saying you are wrong, but if you were a kid, maybe they looked even bigger than they really are," not willing to let it go for some reason.  "It was five years ago, I was a teenager, not a toddler when I met them."  That gave me pause, I could ignore the vision of a young impressionable toddler, but not the one from a hormone ridden teenager.   The UberPack was rumored to be so strong that no one could oppose them, they only showed up when someone broke our fundamental rules, like the ones Melissa had accused my father of breaking.  The last time they had been involved in something big, was during the war that took my mother's life.  The conflict had grown rapidly and affected several neighboring packs that all wanted the same territory.  When the conflict escalated and they started to attack the innocents, the UberPack descended and put a stop to the conflict.    "Still, the point is, if that girl wants to leave, she will, mate or no mate." "Let's stop talking about her, she is not worthy of so much attention.  Let's go back to more important topics, like tomorrow's ceremony," I said, trying to distract them.  "Yeah, I'm hoping that girl is my mate," Ax said with a dreamy expression.  "Me too," the others echoed, leaving me feeling frustrated, but with nothing to add.
