An Unholy Obsession

Chapter Fourteen

Felix started seeing Mercy and would visit her any chance he got. Whenever he invited her over, she would give one excuse after the other. Felix realised she was not ready to visit him or take their relationship further. So far they were just friends on a platonic level. Even though Felix accepted this because he would rather have this than nothing, he still craved more from her. Seeing her every day and witnessing her beauty was beginning to get too much for him.

He itched to  take her in his arms, whisper sweet nothings to her and make tender passionate love to her. He felt his hormones were running riot since he met Mercy. He was finding it increasingly difficult keeping his hands from touching her. He who had been able to control his desires and s****l appetite since the episode with Gift in the village was now  losing it. He reasoned that it could be  as a result of the fact that he had denied himself female companionship for long. On the other hand, it could be because he wanted to stake his claim on Mercy in such a way that she would desire no other man in her life but he. 

On several ocassions ,Mercy had been undecided as to whether she should continue her friendship with Felix or not because  she was getting more and more attracted to him and she was determined that come what may, she would only give herself to her husband on the night of her wedding. This had always been her resolution. She was not ready to give away  her priced possession only for the recipient to turn around and jilt her bacause he had had his way with her. Such things had been known to happen and no matter how smitten she was, she refused to be a victim.

On several ocassions she had  told Felix she wanted to call it quits  since she was not ready for any s****l relationship and she didn't want to force him to endure celibacy for her sake or wait  endlessly for her to be ready. Felix who would have none of that asked her,' Am I complaining?' ' I will wait for you for as long as you want me to. I will prove my love to you that way if you so desire . I love you for yourself and not just for your body and I can't afford to loss your friendship. There is no hurry. Take your time and I am ready whenexer you are.' This always made Mercy reconsider her decision to break up with Felix and they would continue where they left off. The first time this happened, Felix had asked, 'Are you a virgin?' To which Mercy replied,' Yes I am.'. Since then Felix had decided not to rush her. He was so glad about it that he told one of his aunt who had asked him about Mercy that he did not want to touch Mercy untill they were wed.

Felix noticed that his feelings for Mercy was increasing daily

Could it be because she was untouched? Or was it because she had refused to give in to his s****l needs? His value of her had really increased. His opinion of her had skyrocketed. He had liked her instantly when he had seen her and could even say his feelings were serious but be had thought that they could have an affair and maybe he would get tired of her and move on but that seem not to be the case.

To his horror, he was actually looking at the long term program. He felt that he was losing his mind. He had barely recovered from one heartbreak and he was already laying his heart bare for another one.

What happened to the Felix of previously days? He had really changed. But had he really changed that much that he had foolishly started loving so soon after his first experience? Was he destined to keep falling into this hole of heartbreak caused by this feeling called love? Maybe he was not as strong as he thought he was. Maybe falling in love came to him easily. But that were the case, why had he not experienced it with his numerous girl and female friends before he met Gift and after being jilted by Gift, he had had a few relationships as well, why had he not fallen in love with them?

Maybe he had let his guard down but there was nothing to be done now except to see how things play out.
