**Allison’s POV**
I ushered the kids into the car, apologizing to them for disrupting their sleep. I couldn’t leave them at home with Lena on the brink of death. I carried Lena in my arms, princess-style, as the chauffeur drove us immediately to Shirley’s lab. My heart pounded with fear. Nothing must happen to my baby girl. Nothing must happen to Lena.
Her temperature kept rising every passing moment, her face paler than when I first discovered they had injected her with the immune liquid. Just like in the afternoon, Shirley was waiting for us as we pulled into the lab.
