RIEKA’S POV.
“tut tut tut, don’t even think about it my sweet cheeks.” Rawlson sneered as he extended claws from his fingers in warning. I growled in return. I didn’t like pet names and I was definitively not his. “Let’s just cut the s**t, shall we? Let them go and I’ll make your deaths as painless as possible.” I say and stare him down. He bursts out laughing and his friends join in. The sound screeches in my ears and ground my teeth together while I feel my fingertips tingle and I fight the urge to leap on him and rip out his throat with my claws.
“I don’t think so you little bitch.” I will be handsomely paid for this lot… and you. But then again, I can just take you for myself.” he says, eyeing me while he fidgets openly with his belt. Making his intentions known.
Feigning nonchalance, I raise an eyebrow at him and clasp my hands behind my back. With a bored deep sigh at his disgusting suggestion, I respond. “Sorry wolf but you’re not my type. Too old, I doubt that you’d be able to keep up.” I say with a one-sided grin knowing that pissing on his ego will get him angry. Getting angry makes you lose focus and losing focus causes mistakes. I feel the shadow in the trees behind me, inching closer. ‘It better work.’ I say to myself. I signal with my hands towards the trees behind me to hold his position. I knew by senses in the way his presence stilled, that he got the message.
Laughter echoed in the clearing from his fellow accomplices as Rawlson growls angrily in his throat and steps forward growling louder at me. Anger radiating off of him. “You’ve got a big mouth for a little thing like you… I’ll make sure to put it to good use.” He sneers and takes another step towards me while the others follow our interaction with interest. I quickly step to my left as he advances, and I gesture with my hands behind my back for the shadow behind me to go to the right. The leader follows me with a sickly grin, and I return it with a challenging one of my own. “I seriously doubt that. I never lower my standards to omegas.” I say and that set him off. A growl echo through the air as some of the other’s laugh openly. He makes a grab for me, but I merely jump out of his path just as I sense the shadow making his way to the right. I just need to keep their attention on me long enough for them to not notice him.
“Why you little…” Rawlson lounges for me this time and I quickly duck roll out of his reach and send him backwards with a burst of magic with my extended hands towards him that makes him land on his ass making him yelp. This with the laughter of the others pisses him off more and he jumps to his feet to lounge at me again and I sidestep his attempt again, making him fall on the ground on all fours where I once stood. He gets up slowly, eyeing me angrily. The rest of his group watches us eagerly, but they were still keeping eyes on their prisoners. I desperately wanted to glance at the others, but I keep my eyes on my challenger.
I just need to draw the others a little bit further away from them for the shadow in the trees to get to sneak in unnoticed and free them so instead of waiting for my next attack I throw myself at him. I shoot forward, shouldering him square in the chest. I knew it wouldn’t be easy to take a big guy like him down to the ground, but it surprises him enough for me to twist my body low and kick his feet out from under him. He lands with a thud on his back, and I step out of his reach when he tried to make a grab for my feet. A few of his wolves’ snicker and I’m pleased to see that I’ve got their full attention now, so they don’t notice the vampire creeping out of the trees behind them.
I hold up my hands in front of me as the magic courses up and down through my fingers and I ready my stance for a retaliation from Rawlson.
From the corner of my eye, I see the vampire Seth Hunter, trying to cut through the ropes but I knew that wouldn’t work. It was enchanted, but when Ava saw that reinforcements have arrived, she nodded at Seth before starting a chant under her breath and the rope that bound her hands behind her, fell apart. I knew that she could have gotten herself free at any time, but it was mostly being outnumbered and for the safety of her group, that she submitted.
I kept the accomplices entertained as I played around with Rawlson. Leading them a little further to the other side of the clearing, but as misfortune would have it. One of the men looked behind them and with a screech of alarm, the others soon realised what was happening. Only four managed to get free of the ropes before all hell broke loose and curses and claws erupted in the air whilst the rest of the tied-up group all huddle low together with their heads to not get hit with any curses or claws. They couldn’t do anything to help because of their bound state.
Jason, Ava, Jack and Stanley. The ones that managed to get free first, ran straight into the fight with Seth right by their side.
I dodge a claw from a really pissed off werewolf Rawlson and quickly retaliate with another blasting charm from my hands, but stronger this time and sent him flying through the air. I chant quick spells under my breath when I saw one of the accomplices advancing on the tied-up group, but he barely managed to raise a claw at little Steven when I had him off his feet and thrown into the thick of trees, landing with a thump in the distance. Jason looked at me wide eyed before a shadow of gratitude crossed his eyes. I raced forward in hopes to get them free, but I found myself being tackled to the ground, landing on my stomach, hard. Pain radiated on the back of my shoulder, making me cry out in pain.
The weight on top of me had me pinned down, making me unable to get up. ‘Fuuuuck.’ It was Rawlson. The fucker took me by surprise. I could smell the stench of his breath as he laughed into my neck. I grit my teeth as I looked around for something to grab and hit him with but there was nothing withing reach. Fine, I’ll do this myself.
Flattening my hands against the forest floor, I will my magic to collide with the ground. The force of my magic, shot me up to my feet, taking Rawlson by surprise, making him fall backwards. I grunt in pain as the burning pain at the back of my shoulder intensifies and I clutch at it as I fumbled on my feet. Rawlson hit the ground with his fist in anger before he threw himself at me once again. Even though I was in pain, I was ready, but I wasn’t fast enough. He tackled me to the ground, and I cursed out aloud in pain as my back hit the forest floor. I could barely take a breath with his filthy weight on top of me and he wrapped a clawed hand around my throat. Squeezing.
“Omega this bitch.” He growls as I try to pull at the hands around my neck. I try to buck him off, but he has my legs pinned down good with his legs and heavy weight. ‘s**t s**t s**t’ I curse myself. I can’t breathe and my head is starting to spin. ‘Think Rieka Think. You were trained better than this.”
“It is such a shame… I could have had a lot of fun with you sweet cheeks.” He said with a sadistic grin on his face, and I shivered in disgust when he lowered his head and licked me from my chin to my ear. I gathered some last bit of energy that I could as he was cutting of my oxygen and forced my hands to transform into claws. I didn’t trust myself to use magic at the moment, but with my clawed hands, I lashed out at his face. His screams of pain momentarily rang in my ears as he released and rolled off of me, making me draw a greedy breath of air, making me cough as I roll onto my good side as the pain in the back of my shoulder returned now that the pressure of a person’s weight was removed. My ears are ringing, and I feel temporarily deaf to my surroundings, but I can feel the tremors in the ground from the stomping feet.
Gruntingly, I get back to my feet, breathing hard and look around. Many of the accomplices are down or fled. The only one that remained standing was their leader. Rawlson. The one whose face is sporting multiple long slashes on both sides of his face and bleeding all over himself. He is surrounded by Jason, Ava, Stanley and Seth.
Feeling a little dizzy, shoulder burning with pain and my throat on fire, I stumble to the nearest tree and lean against it on my good side and take a few slow steady breaths. ‘Well, that could have gone better… but at least they weren’t taken or killed.’ I comfort myself but I knew that if my dad or alpha were here, they would be giving me a hard talking to for getting distracted.
“This is not over.” Rawlson sneered, twirling in circles and glaring at the magicals and vampires surrounding him. Caging him in. He stops to face me and glares. “Especially for you bitch.” He growls out before he took out something from his pocket and threw it at his feet, disappearing in a cloud of smoke.
I slide down against the tree to my knees as the burning in my shoulder intensifies and blood runs down my back. I bite down on my teeth at the pain, and I try to reach for the clawed wound to determine how bad it is, but I couldn’t quite get there. I jump when fingers ghosted over my back, and I look up startled at a pair of soft green eyes staring back at me.
“Amber… what are you doing?” Seth calls behind her, but she just waves him off to continue inspecting my wound. I watched her as she pulled aside the torn fabric of my sweatshirt and tilted her head side to side as she looked at the damage before she removed her hands and sat back onto her hunches. “It’s pretty deep and you are losing a lot of blood, but I am sure you will heal quickly as soon as we get it to stop bleeding.” She said with a smile, and she pulled on one of her long sleeved shirt sleeves until the fabric tore away. She folded it up and inserted it on the wound underneath my sweatshirt and held it there for a few seconds. “That should hold until I can have a proper look at it back at the manor.”
Before I could say thank you, Seth chastised her again. “What the hell are you doing Amber? We can’t take her with us… we don’t know her.” He said sternly but she merely got to her feet and stood facing him with her arms crossed in front of her chest. Everyone was staring at us, at me. ‘Well, this is awkward.’ I thought as Amber and Seth stared each other down. Ava managed to untie the others and were also watching in silence. “She saved us Seth! The least we could do is patch her up.” Amber said and Seth snorted. “Saved you? You didn’t need saving because I was just about to intervene when she stepped out into the clearing.” He retaliated and I noticed Ava roll her eyes behind Seth’s back before she came forward, stepping between the two of them.
“We can discuss this at a later time, but right now would be best for all of us to get out of here.” She said sternly and I could see Seth grit his teeth with being overruled whereas Amber nodded.
