Sage P.O.V.
What in the actual hell is going on? I thought back to all the events that just played out as we walked down to my new bedroom. Okay, so first I was surprisingly traded to someone for what? A place to live? Pathetic. And not only was it just someone, but the freaking Alpha King?! After all those years of telling me werewolves hated humans and I would be killed if I ever ran into one, he just traded me right off to the most powerful one!
Was he hoping I would have been killed or something?
I knew something was up the moment I stepped out of the cabin. I mean, don't get me wrong, this King is actually very nice. I don't understand why he's letting me call him by his first name or why he's even giving me a bedroom of my own, but I'm not going to tell him no. He even offered to let me read any book I wanted in his office! I might have to take him up on that one day soon.
Besides the female that came out of his office earlier, everything here seems so clean and expensive. Even the hard wood floors looked like they must have cost a lot of money. I started growing very self conscious, especially about my dirty bare feet. I hope I'm not leaving tracks or anything.
We suddenly turned a corner and went down to the end of the small corridor. There was a door on the right that he stopped in front of.
"This will be your new room. My room is directly across from yours right here," he said, pointing to the door on the left side. "So, if you ever need anything or have any questions, I'll be right here." He smiled a million dollar smile that caused my cheeks to heat up once again.
"O-okay," I stuttered while nodding.
He reached over and turned the doorknob, opening the door. I stepped inside and was left speechless. The walls were a soft greyish-lavender color with white trim and crown molding, there were two other doors in the room that were white in color, and the curtains and bedspread were cream colored. I did a complete three-sixty with my mouth hanging wide open when I heard Leon chuckle.
"I'm guessing you like it?" he asked.
"Are you kidding me? This room alone is twice the size of the cabin I lived in, this is amazing," I laughed. I ran over and wrapped my arms around his waist. "Thank you."
He seemed to tense up, but he eventually hugged me back. Awkwardly.
I broke the hug and looked up at him. He sure was gorgeous. He at least had to have been 6'5 with giant muscles and tanned skin, but his greatest feature were his hazel eyes contrasting his dark brown hair. And his smile was breath taking. Was there any flaw to this man?
Leon cleared his throat and walked into the room with me.
"Um, so, this door leads to your closet. We'll have to go get your clothes and shoes from the cabin within the next few days. And this door leads to the bathroom," he said, opening both doors to show me.
"This closet looks like a whole other room! I don't even have enough clothes to fill a quarter of it," I said.
"Well," he looked at me and smiled, "we'll just have to get you more then." I felt my face heat up once again. Why is he being so kind to me?
I walked over into the bathroom and almost choked when I saw how big the bathtub was. I looked around and stopped when I saw another girl in there with me. She was looking at me through a little window looking thing on the wall but the weird thing was every time I moved, she moved in the same exact way. I reached up and touched my face, and she did too. Leon was looking at me with confusion on his face.
"Um, who is she?" I asked, pointing to the glass window.
He looked back and forth between me and the other girl a few times until his gaze finally settled on me.
"You've never seen a mirror before?" he asked me.
I shook my head no and touched the glass, the other girl doing the same. Leon came and stood behind me, I looked at him through the glass.
"It's your own reflection," he told me. "You've never had one before?" Again, I shook my head and he sighed.
He grabbed my hand, those sparks flying through my skin again, and led me back out into the bedroom. He sat down an the bed and gestured for me to sit next to him.
"Sage, how long were you living in the woods with that old man?" he asked me.
"Well, for as long as I can remember," I told him.
"Do you know how you ended up there with him?"
I sighed. "I was told that my parents had left me as a baby in the middle of the forest. James, or whatever his name is, said he had found and taken me in as his own. He was nice at first, sometimes he would even bring me books to read after he got back from his trips. He used to leave for weeks at a time, saying that it was for important business but he never let me out more than a few yards from the cabin, he said it was just too dangerous for me. He taught me how to hunt and things like that so I would be able to survive on my own. But after I turned twelve, he changed and became more aggressive towards me."
When I looked back up at Leon, he seemed to be lost in thought. His gaze was on the wall and his face was all scrunched up. He looked so cute. What is wrong with me? I smiled and shook my head at myself. I can't get myself involved with someone such as he, I'm basically a nobody compared to him. Still, a girl can daydream.
Leon finally sighed and stood up.
"Well, I know you must be exhausted from that long walk so how about you go and take a nice shower and get some rest. Oh, hold on one second," he said, dashing out of my room and going into his.
I stood up and started untying the cloak and threw it onto the bed. Leon came back in with a few pieces of clothing in his hands.
"Here, I know it's not much but it's enough to sleep in for now. I'll talk to my mother soon and see if she has any spare clothes she can lend you since you're about the same size as her." He handed me a white cotton t-shirt with a pair baggy shorts. He picked my cloak up off the bed and looked at me. "Do you want this washed or maybe thrown out?"
"No, no. Please don't throw it out, that's what James found me wrapped up in as a baby," I said, almost a little too excitedly. I felt my cheeks heat up at my own embarrassment.
"No worries," he chuckled. "I'll have somebody deliver it back to you after it's cleaned."
I nodded my head and twiddled my fingers. He had walked right up to me, the smell of him invading my nostrils. I had no idea such a smell existed.
"Go ahead and get some rest, Sage. I will see you later, okay?" he said, ever so sweetly and gently. I felt my legs turn to mush. He smiled at me, almost blinding me with those perfectly white teeth, causing me to smile back at him.
He turned around to walk out the door but just before he shut it, he turned and looked at me with another perfect smile. I smiled and waved and he soon shut the door.
I literally collapsed on the bed, my smile never faltering and my heartbeat going haywire. Why did he have to be so beautiful and nice? It was like a literal killer combination. How the hell am I going to survive this? I groaned loudly and got up off the bed, making my way straight to the bathroom.
Inside, I found soap for my hair and body, a new toothbrush and a new razor as well. Very considerate, I thought to myself. Out of nowhere, a sharp pain was in my head. It felt as if something inside my brain was pushing outwards. I sat on the toilet clutching my head, until it finally subsided a few minutes later. Maybe this shower will help, this whole afternoon has been very chaotic.
I undressed myself and turned the water on hot, I've only ever bathed in the lakes so I wanted to see how it felt with hot water. I stepped in and soon realized it was a big mistake. I kept turning the knobs until I finally found a good medium I could handle.
I did all the things I was supposed to, even brushing my teeth in the shower, and soon found myself in the biggest clothes I've ever worn. There were strings attached to the shorts the made them fit a little better. I turned down the giant bed and climbed in under the covers. With a small smile on my lips, I shut off the lamp, darkening the room slightly, and closed my eyes. Not too long after, I was drifting off into darkness.
