I paced up and down as I let my head cool off. I shouldn't let my emotions get the better of me like that. I had to remember, I was a woman on a mission. I wasn’t here to fall in love, or to get territorial and jealous. I switched off the TV and headed to the kitchen. It was time for me to go to bed. I took my cake from the fridge and immediately decided to take some to my beloved husband. Let's call it a peace offering. Even though I wasn't the one at fault. I took the stairs carefully one by one, feeling even more tipsy. Damn. Where was Caden anyway? He could either be in his room or his office. I checked his room first. I rapped his door softly. There was no response. I knocked again and pushed the door open, slowly poking my head inside first. It was empty. I got my whole body in and went inside. Maybe he was in the shower? But the bathroom door was open and it was also empty. I went down the hall to the last room and knocked twice before I heard a groggy invite in. I opened the door slightly and stepped in. "I brought some cake for you." I said slowly with a smile, not sure if there was anything else I was supposed to add. He looked at me suspiciously as if I'd poisoned the cake or something. I placed it right in front of him. "Is this your idea of a peace offering?" he poked at the cake suspiciously with the fork I handed him. I didn't know what he wanted to hear; maybe I should tell him I'd poisoned it. He took the plate and put it aside. For a moment my heart skipped thinking he would dump it. "It will melt if you don't eat it now." "Just take it back to the freezer then, I'll eat it later." "I can't promise you'll get it." He sighed, exasperated, and put his files aside. He was being weirdly compliant. I'd enjoy this side of him while it lasted. "Will you just stand there and watch me eat it?" Uuumm, that was the plan originally, but that's not what I said out loud. "I'll leave you to it then." I started reaching for the door before he called me back. "Take a seat. Join me." Okay, this was getting weird. Did that bimbo drug him? I took the seat on the other side of his desk. "It's really good. Who made it?" he asked, as if trying to make light conversation. "I got bored when I got to the house and there was nothing to do, so I baked the cake." He nodded, then continued eating. I noticed he was eating around the ice cream. That was weird. "Do you have something against ice cream?" I asked him, going straight for the bulls eye feeling insulted on behalf of the ice cream. "Hmm?" His eyes were getting droopy as he put in another mouthful. He sat back struggling to chew and swallow, his eyes closed. "You don't have to finish it all, you can eat the rest later." I took the cake from him and secretly put in a couple mouthfuls, then went back to him struggling to chew and not get a brain freeze. I went over to his desk, arranged everything neatly and left them there so he would find them tomorrow when he left for work. "I'm going to help you to your room now, okay?" I informed him softly as I went round to his desk to help him up. He must have been really tipsy then because he didn't respond. I went over to his chair, pushed it away from his desk, then draped his hand over my shoulder. "Okay now, stand," it didn't help that I was tipsy as well as I struggled to get him to stand up. "Come on Caden, help me," I whined as I struggled with no avail to get him to stand. I decided to shake him a bit if he didn't stand; I'd splash water on his face. He still didn't wake up. Then I had a not so brilliant idea. "Caden, Frank is here!" as if on auto pilot, he immediately stood and opened his eyes up a bit. I took the chance and immediately moved with him, forcing him to walk though I was carrying most of his weight. He was so heavy! After a lot of struggling and cussing on my part, we finally got to his room and I dumped him unceremoniously on his bed. I let out a relieved sigh as I stretched my arms and back. "You better remember all this in the morning and treat me better, you douchebag!" I scolded his sleeping form as I struggled to remove his shoes, tie, shirt and trousers. His body was so defined. I could see the outline of his abs through his vest, I was inwardly drooling as my eyes casually trailed lower to the very, very noticeable bulge he had going on in his boxers. The urge for him to take me was so strong. All I wanted to do was ride him, but I knew I'd be filled with nothing but regret in the morning. Would I though? I'd be sexually sated and out before he awoke. I shook my head pushing out that idea. Drunk me was insane. I went back downstairs, grabbed my phone and ran all the way back to my room. The moment I got to my room, I rinsed off my face, got out of my bunny onesie and wore my slip dress. I got onto my sheets and the moment my head hit my pillow I was in dreamland. The distant sound of my alarm awoke me as I threw my hand around everywhere trying to turn it off. When was the last time my alarm rung before I’d woken up? I groggily sat up, stretched my body and turned it off. I did my daily yoga routine before I finally checked the time. 6. 15 am. I got up, went to the bathroom, cleansed my face and took a quick shower. I grabbed my yoga pants and a random vest I found in the closet and got dressed. I was sure Caden had already left by now. I headed downstairs; the maids were already in, going about their chores. I could feel their glares on me. I saw the chef already in the kitchen. I beamed. "Good morning, Raphael, was it?" he turned and looked at me, not believing I was speaking to him. "Good morning, Mizz." he replied hesitantly. "Prepare for me a proper English breakfast and have one of the helps bring it up to my room. Thanks." I beamed at him and went back to my room. I should have grabbed a fruit or something as I waited, I thought belatedly. I looked around my room; I had to create space for a little office in my room. It could work. I had more than enough space for that. But for now I'll use my dresser. I cleared it up and put my laptop there, switching it on. It was time to get back to reality. I went through my emails; most of them were of no concern to me anymore. I would need to get investors for our company. But that would need to wait a little. I took my phone and dialed Asher's number. He picked up on the third ring. "Hey, darling." He sounded distracted. "Hey Ash. How are you?" "I'm busy." he was as frank as ever. "The wedding has already happened. I am now officially Mrs. Grimaldi." There was silence on the other end. I sighed. "Already?” Came his response. "Yea," I let out lamely. “Take care of yourself, Cee.” His voice was soft. I nodded, then realized he couldn't see me, "Okay" I simply said. "Call me in case you need anything. Any time, regardless of the time difference, I'll always pick." "Thanks Ash." "Okay, I’m a little held up at the moment, talk later?" “Yea, sure.” “Great! Bye.” I could hear the smile in his voice. "Bye." I quipped and hung up. It was already 8.45, what was taking so long with the breakfast? I headed downstairs. I might as well have it in the dining room. The chef had already cleared out of the kitchen. No sign of my breakfast anywhere. What. The. Actual. f**k. "Hey, you!" I called out to one of the maids who just happened to be passing by. She looked at me a bit scared. "Go and get me the chef right now!" "But I was-" "Do not make me repeat myself." I told her menacingly. She bowed her head slightly and went. She came back with a confused chef. "Where is my breakfast, Raphael?" He looked at me puzzled, "I had Lucia deliver it to you over an hour ago, Mizz." "Go get her." I told the girl who was trying to slip away. "Yes, ma'am." she replied in a small voice as she went. "You called?" the girl who I assumed was Lucia said from behind me. I turned, I could see the other helps had begun hovering around, in a not-so-obvious but obvious manner. Good. "Pack up your things and leave." I told her in an icy tone and turned my back on her. "Raphael, make me my breakfast and have one of these insolent workers deliver it to me. This time, I'll be in the dining room." I went to the dining room and grabbed the business paper Caden must have been reading. Then it dawned on me. I needed to follow my dad’s command and work at Caden’s office. That would obviously be the ideal place to scout for investors. Perfect. I now have a plan. I can move with purpose. Things would fall into place beautifully. I smiled to myself. "Here is your breakfast, ma'am." I looked up. It was Lucia. I eyed her surprised. "What are you still doing here?" I asked nonchalantly, keeping all emotion out of my voice. "I'm very sorry ma'am, please forgive me." she was groveling at my feet now. "Get up." I said simply as I began slicing my egg. "Please, ma'am, I am the breadwinner in my household, my brother-" "Lucia." She looked at me, tears running down her face. "I never give second chances. Now leave. I want to have my breakfast." I could feel numerous stares on us. “If you appear before me again, I will make it so that you never get a decent job again.” I told her, giving her a sickly sweet smile. "Since you're all here watching, instead of doing what brought you here,” I continued to address them as I picked up the sliced egg with my fork. “I suggest you learn your places. I am the official mistress of this house. I suggest you treat me as common sense and work ethic dictates, but, by all means, go ahead and continue being insolent." I glanced behind and caught my little errand girls' eyes. "I love teaching lowly servants their place." I turned back and continued enjoying my breakfast. It was sumptuous. By the time I was done, half an hour had already passed. It wasn't a decent hour for me to report to an office. I guess I should get in touch with my private investigator. I went up, took my phone and sent him a simple text. Let's meet at 1130h at X Restaurant.
