Jane’s POV: I waited until I saw him walk into his study. I quickly ran upstairs in search of my missing shoe. I had to find the shoe. I was lucky that he didn’t recognise me, but that shoe could cause me to lose the only job I had ever had and the only home I have known for the past 10 years. I ran into his room and tried to retrace my steps. I didn’t see it, it had to be here somewhere. I looked under the bed and behind the curtains, nothing. I went to his closet and started checking there, but still there was nothing. I frantically searched the same area again. I couldn’t find my shoe anywhere. I felt desperate, surely he doesn't have it, or he would have said something by now, right. I sat on the conner of the bed, trying to calm my racing heart. It had to be here. I dropped onto my knees and bent down to search under the bed again. I said a small prayer, hoping I had just missed it and that it was there now, but to no avail, that shoe had just dissapeared. I heard a throat being cleared, and I knew it was him, dammit what now. I felt my body going rigid, more with fear than anything else. I frantically searched my mind for excuses, but I couldn't think of anything. He cleared his throat again and I tried to get up quickly but bumped my head on the underside of the bed. “s**t” I stood up straight rubbing my head. He gave me a concerned look and walked closer, he took my head in his hands and checked were the bed just struck me. I almost sighed as my head was being checked by him. I stared up into his eyes and realised that his eyes weren't brown as I first thought, but a very dark blue. “Are you okay? It’s not bleeding so that’s good”. I tried to recall what he just said, because for a second I was lost in those magnetic pools. His hands drifted to my shoulders. His touched sent electric surges down my spine, I was shocked that his touch could cause so much havoc on my senses. My legs started to shake, and I took a seat on the bed. “Yeah, I’m fine, just a little lightheaded. I just need a few seconds to right myself” He stood on his hunches in front of me, looking into my eyes. “Can I get you something?” I tried to sit straighter “No, no I’ll be fine. I just need to steady myself” He got up from his hunches and stood looking down at me. He held out his hand towards me, I reluctantly took it, and he helped me up. He watched me for a couple of seconds, checking if I was really okay. When he was satisfied, he walked to his bedside table and grabbed his glasses from it. He started walking out when he suddenly turned to me. “Where you looking for something?” I frowned at kept looking at him, not knowing what to say. “It looked like you were looking for something, maybe I can help you.” He gave me a suspicious look. Nervous energy spread through my body, and I darted out my tongue rubbing it over my very dry lips. “No, no, I just wanted to clean up here first, checking for clothes under the bed, that sort of thing” He shook his head slowly but I saw a frown appear between his eyebrows. “Oh, okay. Then I'll leave you to it” I walked out and I heard him run down the stairs, go into his study and close the door. I took in a deep breath and exhaled, s**t, I was going to have to be careful. I didn’t even hear him come in the room. I sat back down on the bed. I must have dropped the shoe outside somewhere. Oh please let that shoe be outside. I quickly cleaned his room, as I exited with his washing, I took one last look around the room hoping to see it. The shoe definitely wasn’t there. I quickly placed his clothes in the washing machine and slipped out of the back door. I walked all the way back to my apartment, but I still couldn’t find it. I started to slowly walk back thinking of where this shoe could be. I honestly couldn't believe that a shoe was causing so much distress. I nervously searched the outside area. Kyle’s POV: I walked to my study and sat in front of my laptop. I had to finish this book, my editor had given me a deadline and it was fast approaching. I had three months to write the plot of my third book, a murder mystery. I came to the lake house hoping the peace and quiet would help me finish it, but then another mystery presented itself. I started typing but most of it was rubbish. I angrily pushed back the chair and went to stand by the window, looking out over the lake. I thought of the scene upstairs, I found her intriguing and for some reason I was responding to her. When I touched her, my heart gave a very uncomfortable lurch and then when she licked her lips, I wanted to kiss her, desperately. What was wrong with me, I mean Greta was gorgeous, but this little mouse intrigued me. I inhaled deeply trying to make sense of the situation. I saw movement and I turned my head in that direction. I watched as my little housekeeper moved up and down the path leading to the garage. She was searching for something, that much was clear. A smile appeared on my face as I took the shoe out of my draw. I stared at the woman searching the ground, surely not, she couldn’t be my Angel, could she. Only one way to find out. I took the shoe and placed it next to the steps. All I had to do know was wait. I moved back to the window of my study and waited for her to come in again. I watched as she came in. I stayed at the window. I watched as minutes later she left the lake house and sprinted to her apartment. I ran to the steps excited to see if she had taken the bait. The shoe was gone. I smiled to myself, the little minx had tricked me with her beige makeover, but now I saw who she was, my angel. My phone rang and I saw Greta’s name appear on my screen. For some reason I was annoyed that she phoned me now. I let the call go to voicemail and watched as the temptress walked back to the lake house.
