The interview

“uuugh”
I groaned as I switched off the alarm on my phone. With heavy steps I took myself into the bathroom to see how the good night sleep had wrecked my face. It wasn’t too bad, the bags under my eyes were dark and my dark brown hair was a mess.
I hopped into the shower and cleaned myself. After I went into my clothes and found something to make me look resendable. I walked out of my room and into the kitchen making myself a smoothie for the ride.
I glanced down at my phone, on the lock screen the clock displayed 07:15, before I could put it back into my jean pocket a notification popped up.
“Dear Mr Gould, you have an interview with Miss Henderson about a secretary job. We just want to confirm that you will arrive at 08:05. As you know Miss Henderson has a very busy schedule.”
I read outload while my nerves were showing their true colours.
“Yes, I will be arriving at 08:05”
I replied.
I quickly grabbed my jacket and computer bag. Got out of my apartment, locked the door, and hopped on my bike.
As I came closer to the huge building, that Miss Henderson was CEO for, I could feel that it got harder and harder to control my nerves.
Without noticing the red light a woman jumped out in front of my bike, I had to swerve around her, making me fall off my bike.
“f**k”
I cursed, quickly trying to compose myself, the woman gave me a glance and then she walked away.
“Rude b***h”
I muttered under my breath.
The woman turned around and frowned.
“I heard that kid”
I stared back at her and spoke.
“Good, because you’re a bitch.”
And then I walked towards the building, not giving the woman another thought.
Walking into the building made me forget the incident. It was a tall building, with marble all over the floors, gold rims around the walls and huge paintings. Chairs and tables were settled in a random pattern. While I was gawking at the room I walked into a chair.
“f**k”
I muttered.
Sheepishly making my way over to the receptionist.
“Hi, I’m here for an interview”
I smiled politely.
“Threw the elevator, press 66 and then there will be a waiting room for you. Just wait until they call you in handsome”
She answered with pearl white smile.
“Thank you”
I blushed and headed over to the elevator. Pressed the 66 button and elevator swiftly took me to the floor. When the doors busted open there were three other people there.
I smiled politely and took my seat. When I sat down, I could feel the eyes from the other people locking on me. When I look up my conclusion was true, they were all looking at me with daggers.
“Hi”
I said slowly.
“Hello”
A man in a suit answered. He had a beard and a man bun. He looked stylish.
“Are you interviewing for the secretary job?”
I asked kindly.
He laughed before he spoke.
“No, I’m waiting to talk to Miss Henderson. I want her to fund my new business”
And then he told me all about his business, it was a dog sitting app. It sounded pretty cool, and it made me feel stupid for asking such a stupid question.
We talked for a while about his idea, and I was so interested in how he had all these ideas about the app, wanting me to do something cool too.
Although I knew that I could never become a millionaire or even have a million-dollar idea.
After a while talking with the man, a woman appeared “Mr Gould, Miss Henderson will see you now”
I looked at the man, swallowed and walked towards the huge doors, feeling rather small all the sudden.
“You got this”
The man yelled out at me, as I was walking away.
I opened the doors into the office, a lovely smell of lavender hit my nostrails. Making my nerves calm down and a memory of me in a field of lavender flowers. A huge smile on my face, while my eyes where closed I didn’t notice the rug in front of the desk.
With one loud thump I had fallen flat onto my stomach. The chair on the other side of the desk slowly turned around.
“What the hell are you doing?”
A woman’s voice called out.
“I-I-I’m s-s-s-sorry”
I stuttered, trying to ger back up and compose myself.
“Well hello stranger”
The woman said.
I looked up and noticed that it was the woman from the street. She was beautiful, her hair was a light red color, her eyes were a deep blue sea color, and I just knew you could get lost in them forever. She had a red lipstick on, making my eyes stick to her lips.
“You?”
I frowned.
“My oh my”
She said looking at me as if she was taking my clothes off.
“You’re Miss Henderson?”
I asked embarrassed.
“The one and only”
She replied and bowed.
“Please take a seat”
She continued.
Slowly I walked toward a chair facing her desk. I sat down.
“So, do you always call your boss a b***h?”
A crooked smile showing on her lips.
“N-n-no…”
I bit my lip.
Her eyes narrowed and I let my lip go.
“Tell me about yourself”
She stood up, looking out of the window.
“My name is Robert Gould; my friends call me Bobby. I’m 24 years old. I wan’t to try some things before I choose a university to study at. I also need a job to pay my rent. I’ve never had a secretery job but I’m a fast learner. Tell me to do something and I do it...”
Her hand was up in the air.
“I’ve heard enough”
I felt very small.
She turned around, looking me dead in the eye.
“You do know that you will mostly run for coffe all day?”
I shrugged.
“Whatever you want me to do, I’m yours”
I froze in place.
Did I just say that? The way she was looking at me confirmed my question. I did infact just say that.
“S-s-sorry”
I stuttered.
“Nothing to worry about. The job is yours, well because you’re the only one that applied for it. You’ll have to sign a conditionality contract. You know, anything you see or hear cannot go to the press or outside of this building. If it does, I’ll sue you. See you Monday at 08. Don’t be late.”
I stared at her, trying to make sense of all the facts that she hit me with. I stood up and gave her my hand.
She took it and when our hands shook, I could feel a small tingle down my arm, I quickly retracted my arm and turned away for the door.
“See you Monday”
I whispered.
Later that night I thought about what it would be like working for such a woman. She didn’t take any bullshit. She clearly showed me that when I called her a b***h. She did call me out for my sassiness when she met me again. Did she think it was funny?
Or was she going to get her revenge on me?
My phone buzzed.
I picked it up, accepted the incoming call and put it up to my ear.
“Hi Sam, what’s up?”
“Dude, where are you?”
“I’m at home”
“you’re still at home? Come on man, you promised me we’d meet at Raymond’s. You were going to tell me all about the job interview today? Or did you forget?”
“s**t”
I cursed.
“You forgot, didn’t you”
She said.
“I’m on my way”
I replied and ran out of my apartment and onto my bike.
15 minutes later I arrived at the bar Raymond’s. I locked my bike and went inside.
The place was crowded and there seemed to be some kind of fuss at the bar. I looked around trying to find Sam, but she was nowhere to be found. I scanned the room one more time and my eyes landed on Sam, standing on the bar dancing, well at least trying to. She was daring, she didn’t care about nothing, if she felt like dancing on the bar, she would do it, rules or no rules.
I always liked Sam, we had become friends in middle school. When the other kids would bully me for looking weird, Sam would beat them up and I was forever grateful for that. At one time I had a crush on her, but she never felt the same way and that was okay, I liked having her as my best friend better than a girlfriend.
“Sam!”
I yelled, trying to be heard threw all the noise.
“SAM!” I yelled louder.
She locked eyes with me, showed me two beers and hopped off the bar as if nothing had happened. She walked towards me, turned me around and pushed me out of the door.
I walked outside of the bar and found a table outside.
She sat on the other side of the table, facing me. She handed me the beer and I took a long sip.
“So it didn’t go well, I presume?”
She asked with a sad smile on her face.
“It went great! I got the job!”
I smiled at her.
“No way! Congratulations”
She did a small happy dance.
“But why do you seem a bit sad then?”
She asked.
This was the hard thing about having best friends, they always know how to read you.
“Well…”
I hesitated.
“Spit it out”
She said.
“I got the job, yes. But I did make a complete ass off myself before I even got to the interview.”
And then I told her about the incident with Miss Henderson. She facepalmed and the laughed so hard that she couldn’t breathe.
“Yes, yes very funny”
I said in a sarcastic way.
“Dude, this could only happen to you and no one else!”
She said between her laughing.
“And now I don’t know if she hired me because she want’s revenge or.. well I don’t know”
She stopped laughing.
“What?”
“You heard me”
I looked around me.
“WTF Bobby, come on, as if a multi billionaire has time to plot aginast one guy calling her a b***h. You’re so paranoid sometimes.”
She shook her head in disbelief.
“Yeah you’re porbably right Sam”
I nodded.
“Why would a multi billionaire have any interes in little ole me”
We continued to drink and talk until it was very late.
She told me about this new guy she was seeing, his name was Rick.
“He is a yoga instructor; do you know how fantastic the s*x could be Bobby? I mean holy s**t, he could bend me in all the styles, you know?”
“Sound’s hot I replied”
Taking another sip of my beer.
“Well it’s late Bobby, I have to head home.”
She embraced me.
“Yeah I should probably head home too, if I can find it”
She pushed me playfully, almost making me fall.
“You weirdo, I’ll see you around okay”
She gave me peck on the cheek.
“See you later alligator”
She laughed and started to walk away. I turned on my heel and started to make my way home.
I walked for an hour, realizing that I was lost.
“Well f**k, I’m lost”
I told myself.
I took out my phone trying to call a taxi. I finally got a hold of someone and told them where I was.
“Come get me b***h”
I asked.
“Be right there”
The person on the other end said.
I sat down on a bench, and then everything went black.
The next morning I didn’t wake up in my own bed. The sunlight was bright and my head was throbbing. I could only have one eye open at the time. I noticed an asprin on the table by the bed and a note saying “eat me” and a glass with water and the note was saying “drink me”
“What is this Alice in Wonderland”
I muttered.
Suddenly I heard a shower turn off. I froze.
A door swung open and my mouth dropped.
“My oh my”
