CARLA
It has been raining nonstop for the past few days and quite harshly at that. I try to fix the broken parts of my roof, but the wind just blow what little fixture I try. Raindrops patter against my broken roof and skin and I whimper in coldness. I'm shivering uncontrollably and I suddenly wonder if this rain is going to stop any time soon.
The palace cook stopped by this morning to give me food and I was so thankful because I have been hungry ever since the storm started. It was a great act because my small house was a far walk from the palace.
Thunder booms and I whimper. I hate storms and thunderstorms because they remind me of when my parents disappeared and when I received my first beating. The first time traumatized me...it was the most painful one, the pain was unfamiliar so of course it hurt badly. I could still see the man's figure as he kicked my sides and punched my stomach. No one had ever hit me before.
Each hit he took, it seemed like the thunder beamed, forever etching the torture in my head. I couldn't hit him back because he was gigantic and couldn't match to his energy.
*****
The rain and the storm continues and I close my eyes hard hoping that when I wake up, the rain would have ceased.
The night has already fallen when I'm finally woken by a stirring inside me. It is a warm and peaceful feeling, since I am at peace. It has been a while since I felt this way.
My heart beats heavily in anticipation and I wonder why that's happening. I feel so restless for some reason and I don't understand it. I can't place a finger onto that feeling at all!
Although the cold raindrops continue to hit my covered skin, I feel hot. A wave of energy and power that I've never felt before surges through me and the urge to let it out overcomes me therefore I start pacing around my small ramshackle.
I notice that I can see better through the dark and it is as if I can see clearly in the dark. My hearing has improved and I can hear better.
Outside, I can hear the leaves spiralling with the wind. I can't explain how that's able to happen, but I'm certain that the tingling sounds are the raindrops falling and the scratchy sounds were the trees and the leaves. My smell has also heightened and I'm surprised by the fact that I can smell the pack house, the palace and the pack members that are far away from here and I can tell which scent belongs to who.
Wow! Isn't this intriguingly wonderful?
Somehow, I know that the cinnamon and sugary smell belongs to Alice the cook. The alcohol and mud scent belongs to Mason, the masculine guy who constantly beats me up.
I don't understand what's happening....I just don't!
'Carla.' I hear someone calling and I turn around to search my surroundings for the owner, but I'm surprised to find that there's no one around. Surprisingly, I've never heard that voice before. Who does it belong to? Oh goodness!
Am I going insane?
'You are not going insane sweetheart.' the sound repeats. 'I am not present physically, but I am in your head. You and I are one.' the voice says again and my eyes widen as I start to realize what is happening.
'A-are you..?' I stutter in my head, unable to complete my question.
'Yes, I am your wolf.'
'What?' I gasp. 'B-but how? I'm already beyond the age of getting a wolf!' I'm shocked beyond shock.
'I know dear but the Moon Goddess wouldn't let me show myself. I've always been here with you ever since you were a child.' my wolf says. I'm even more confused because I don't understand anything she has just said!
'What do you mean?' I ask in confusion.
'I'm afraid I don't know how to explain anything either.' she says knowingly and I pout. I'm even more confused!
Tornadoes of emotions swirl in me as I try to grasp what is happening. I am happy....no, not just happy..... I'm overjoyed. I have a wolf....I've been having her all along...finally!
An intoxicating smell fills my nostrils and this has been happening for a long while as I just sit there, but I feel the urge to stand up and follow the smell.
It's the smell of the deep forest trees, like cedars, oaks, cyprus but fresh....so fresh and so... I don't know, but as it fills my nose, it becomes addicting.....so addictive!
Who does this scent belong to? I don't think I've ever smelt this scent before....it's so intoxicating!
I run outside and I'm instantly drenched wet by the rain, though I don't mind at all. I need to find the owner of this scent...
I'm not wearing any shoes, sandals or slippers so my feet and legs are getting continually scraped as I run faster towards the Pack.
My wolf starts humming mysteriously inside my head and no matter how many times I ask her what is going on, she ignores me. She's something else, damn!
My heart beats fast in anticipation, nervousness and probably so many other things.
I don't know where the scent and the mysterious pulling inside me will lead me to. After a while, I am completely drenched and my dark chocolate hair looks black and my brown sweater weighs heavy from the water and clings tightly on my skin.
I follow the scent and the pull until I'm in front of the pack house. I pant heavily as I stare at the huge building in front of me.
My heart is racing inside my chest in a manner that even I can't explain. All I know is that, after tonight, my life will take a drastic change and it will never be the same ever again!
I am actually right.... The door of the palace opens and someone steps out.
He is tall... he stands taller than the door frame so he has to crouch lower just to step out of the door. Even from here, I can see his green eyes staring at me intently, observing every part of me and I do the same! It's like we are in a staring contest.
He has a clean cut dirty blonde hair, emerald green eyes that pierce my soul as he looks, soft plump lips, pointy nose, and a sharp jawline. He's breathtakingly handsome!
He is... stunning.
I don't think I have ever seen a man so handsome, so dashingly attractive, so unapologetically cute. He is the type of a person that demanded to be looked at, he is an exhibition, a masterpiece. He has an aura of attraction in him. His eyes are equally as enchanting, reeling me into keeping staring, but at the same time daring me to look away.
Suddenly, my wolf stops humming and it pronounces the word I thought I will never hear in my entire miserable life.
*Mate.*
'Mate?'
I want to bask in thankfulness that I now have a mate. He is going to save me from this cruel place now. I want to cry and shout in happiness since I know I'm going to have a normal life away from the daily beatings and torture. However, I quickly notice my Alpha standing beside him and I grasp the situation quickly.
They're definitely if the same status...
My mate is an Alpha! A f*****g Alpha!
On the other side, I'm an Omega, a weak wolf....the weakest of all!
I suddenly feel sick and as bile rises from my stomach up my throat, I know I'm going to throw up!
However, that never happens as flashes of all the beatings from my Alpha play in my head. As sickening as it sounds, my Alpha has beaten me up countless times also. Since he is the most powerful of our pack, his hits, slaps, punches and kicks are way powerful than other hits I receive from other pack members.
The bruises he leaves stay there for days and the fractured bones take at least two weeks to heal.
On especially bad days, he uses silver on me. On the worst days, he uses poison such as wolfsbane on me! He is such a devil!
I still want to throw up.
My heart doesn't beat in anticipation or excitement or even happiness anymore. It beats slowly and heavily... out of fear and shock.
“What are you doing here?” the Alpha screams violently at me. He looks over to his side where his beta is standing. “Take this weak Omega out of Alpha Liam's sight now!” he orders rather aggressively.
Oh no! He's so heartless and I'm not stupid to call him a demon!
I start taking sure steps backward but not before I take another look at my supposed mate.
His curious and examining look is gone. His emerald green eyes stare at me emotionlessly, as if he doesn't feel the connection I am feeling right now. As if he doesn't feel this pull I am suffering from!
I can feel tears rising up and my eyes sting really badly. The Beta is taking his time descending the stairs and I take it as my opportunity to run. If they think they will catch me this time and beat me mercilessly, then they're damn wrong!
