CARLA
The drive seems quite long since we have been on the road for over two and half hours when we finally stop at a gas station.
Right beside it is a restaurant and from outside, the big advertisements can be read. 'Get your yummiest Italian Pizza in here!' and 'today's quality offer at only 5 Dollars!'
“Wow!” I exclaim within myself.
Reading all of those adverts, I suddenly realize that I haven't eaten for almost two days now. That Italian Pizza sounds really nice right now. My stomach started grumbling and I hold it so as to calm it down. I'm really hungry but I didn't have any dime on me.
I looked outside to the Beta who is filling the gas tank up and I think for a while.
'I possibly can't ask him to buy me some food,' I asked my wolf.
'I agree, but at this point, you'll die of hunger. You have to eat something.' she responds.
I sigh and suck my stomach in.
'It's okay, I can still go on, precisely four days without food.'
Inside my head, my wolf argues that I can't keep going on on an empty stomach and how it's different from before and how I need more energy because she is here now. I'm definitely eating for two.... It was probably true though but I ignore it. It's okay though...I'll somehow survive.....I know I can survive! I've survived more hard and tough situations, tougher than hunger!
I watch as Trevor goes inside the convenience store and comes out with two bottles of water....at least, I have some water. My stomach is rumbling and I'm trying so hard to make it stop and thankfully, it stops just as he gets inside the car. He brings the engine back to life and puts his seatbelt on and I am silently saying goodbye to that mouth watering Pizza.
“Alright!” Trevor sighs... “It's time to continue with—” he stops midway when he notices that I'm silent.
Just on time, my stomach makes a monstrous sound which is actually loud enough to make him stop talking.
I should probably just die right now out of shame!
'Why are you so embarrassing?' my wolf scolds inside my head. I want to cry, but I keep a straight face. It's not time to pity myself!
He looks down at my stomach and back to my eyes and switches between them for a while.
“Do you want to grab something?” he asks curiously.
“No at all, I'm fine!” I lie smoothly. “Are you hungry?” I try to brush everything off, even adding a fake laugh for effect.
Trevor narrows his eyes at me and does that thing with his hand where he points at the direction of the restaurant. “Are you sure because you sound pretty hungry!”
“Me, hungry? Hell no!” As much as I want to convince him, all I can say is that it is an utter failure because there it is again. My stomach protests, wanting to be fed and this time, it makes sure that it is heard louder than the last time.
Oh dear moon goddess above. I don't know what kind of a sin I've committed but isn't this too much of a punishment? Why should I be punished like this?Should I just start digging my own grave to bury myself alive?
My wolf is laughing inside my head and it isn't long until I hear Trevor's boisterous laugh everywhere too.
“Hey!” he says amid laugher. “If you are so hungry, you should just tell me!” he beams and I really wished the ground would just swallow me whole! I'm sure my cheeks are red with embarrassment.
I look away, hiding my face that's probably like a tomato right now, and I lift my hand, shaking it.
“I'm fine, really. Let's just go.” I dismiss, still too proud to admit that I'm suffering amid hunger pangs, but Trevor is still busy having the time of his life laughing at me.
He laughs for a long time and when he finally calms down, he drives the car right in front of the restaurant. I just look towards him, both confused and embarrassed but he just smiles amusedly and turns the engine down.
“Come on, let's go before I change my mind.” he orders, getting out of the car.
I just curse myself before climbing down and following him. As soon as I get out of the car, I feel the unfamiliarity of the territory. I really am gone from my Pack. Right now, we were on human territory and that is noticeable by the smell. Come to think of it, this is my first time on human territory. The smell of the gasoline annoys me, but it's bearable.
Looking around, I take a deep breath and turn around to follow the Beta. He is already holding the door open for me and as soon as our eyes meet, he starts laughing all over again.
Oh my goodness! He's going to use this against me, isn't he? Well, he seems to be the type who keeps reminding someone of their past mistakes!
I mutter a thank you when I go in first because again, that is the first time someone does that for me. There's this petite lady, probably around my age who quickly comes towards us and offers us a booth by the windows. She's definitely a waitress. Gladly, we take it and make ourselves comfortable.
As soon as we sit down, she gives us the menu and she decides to give Trevor more....a wink and a perfect smile. As for the Beta, he smiles back seductively.
I take the menu, lift it up in a way that covers them out of my view because that is just plain awkward. I've never seen werewolves flirting in public!
“Hello,” she speaks. “My name is Beryl and I'll be your waitress for today. I'll leave you some time and take your order, alright sweetheart?” At her last word, she looks at Trevor and winks at him then leaves.
I raise my eyebrows at him and unluckily, he catches me.
“What?” he asks curiously.
“Yuck...Gross.” I respond, sticking my tongue out.
“What's so gross about that?” he laughs off and starts perusing through the menu.
I do the same and browse the many items that are there. “Your mate would hate that.” I say and I hear him huffing before silently chuckling.
“Well, too bad because I haven't met her yet.” he says nonchalantly and that makes me look at him in disbelief.
'Too bad?'
I shake my head and decide between Pizza with extra cheese or fries and chicken nuggets.
After a while, Beryl comes back and takes our orders. I decide to go with the Pizza instead since the advert recommends it so much.
“I'll get the same as her and please add a Vanilla milkshake for me.” he finishes, still with that smile on his face.
I also request her to bring a packet of Mango juice for me because it has been long since I had some.
Thankfully, the waitress doesn't take the flirting to another level because after taking our orders, she leaves.
“I bet you love Vanilla flavoured drinks huh?” I comment, observing outside.
“Yes I do.” he says nodding in the affirmative and I also nod in understanding. I also love Vanilla but I don't want to make it obvious.
A few minutes pass by and I'm getting lost in my thoughts, precisely, thoughts about my mate.
Trevor said that his name is Liam, short form for William and he's an Alpha. At least, that's all I know of him, however, I want to know more. Who is he? What are his likes and dislikes? I would want to know, but that already seems so impossible. I mean, the guy literally broke my arm on our first encounter. Or second. Whatever.
It would be easy if I just present to him a questionnaire with all the questions and make him answer it! Damn!
Unconsciously, I find my self rubbing the spot where he broke my arm. It has healed by now and I remember it healed in less than an hour. That's one of the advantages of being a werewolf! Healing doesn't take long.
“I'm guessing you don't know a thing about my pack, do you?” Trevor says abruptly, as if reading my mind hence snapping me from my reverie.
His pack? What is the name again? Aq-Aqua something?
So I shake my head in response and he smiles, but not his usual happy-go-lucky smile. It's almost a sad smile.
“Just a heads up, Aquatic is actually considered as a warrior Pack. Almost everyone in it is a warrior who is skilled in fighting and what they all hate most is weakness...” he says then pauses and looks at me straight in the eyes, his smile fully disappearing, but I get the message crystal clear.
They will hate me too because I am a weak Omega!
“I wish you luck.” he says and I nod, whispering a muffled 'thanks'.
After saying that, a long silence ensues and I also remain quiet since I don't know what to say. I mean, what can I say? 'Hey, I'm your Alphas mate. And, oh yeah, just a little detail about me, I'm an Omega. Have a good day.'
Oh s**t!
I'm convinced that even before I say anything, they will notice how weak I am and kill me and then throw me to the rogues and vampires to devour my weak flesh!
Thankfully, the food comes and as soon as it is on our table, we start eating. However, what he said is still stuck in my mind.
"“What about him? I mean my Mate?” I ask, rather unsure. He is about to take a bite of his Pizza when my question stops him.
“He hates weakness more than anyone else in the Pack. He's the Alpha and the head of the Pack, remember?” he says, making me to suddenly lose my appetite!
“Wow, thanks for that information.” I say sarcastically and take a bite of my slice of Pizza nonetheless.
“But you don't have to worry because I'm sure he won't reject you. After all, he'd do anything to become more powerful and mates are supposed to strengthen each other right?” Trevor assures me smilingly and all of a sudden, the atmosphere is light. How I wish I have that kind of talent like him and I also smile and nod.
“Well, I wanted to ask you, if it's not much of a bother, can you tell me more about your pack and my mate?” I say and he starts laughing.
“I can see you've really been kept in the dark, haven't you?” he states and shakes his head. “Well, I don't like bragging, but when it comes to pack ranks in this State, Aquatic is definitely first and that's why I can't believe you haven't heard of us.” He takes a sip of his Vanilla milkshake before continuing. “And about Liam... I won't tell you anything about him just yet. I'll let you know him yourself.” he smiles devilishly and stares right into my eyes.
“That would be very interesting to see.” he concludes then takes another long sip out of his glass. Wow!
