Chapter Four

Ami This was a stark contrast to the last time I had been in this office. The place was bustling with organised chaos. A sleuth of pretty women walking around in their tight business skirts and half unbuttoned blouses. And I had been told to wait. As the receptionist who looked more like a porn star then anything else pressed a button on her desk. Of course this time around I didn’t have an appointment. I was expected and it was the middle of the afternoon. A busy Monday afternoon. “Sir there’s a ….” she glanced over me as if she couldn’t remember my name. And I raised an eyebrow at her. What kind of receptionist was she? I had only told her my name a minute earlier. “I’ll be right out.” Dewi’s voice echoed around the room. It seemed he didn’t need to know who was wanting to speak to him. “He’ll be right out.” She parroted back as the door opened and I rolled my eyes. “Ami.” His grin was wide as he covered the space between us, his hand outstretched formally. Which seemed kind of strange seeing as I had fallen asleep on his shoulder only a few nights before. And woken up to all Ffions toys picked up and myself wrapped in a throw. With him gone. That was the whole reason I was here. To make amends. To try and beg for the job I had probably lost that night. “You look better, do you feel better?” His brown eyes searched my face as he motioned for me to go into his office and away from all the prying eyes and ears. “Yes I am, I wanted to pop in and say sorry.” He whirled so suddenly I almost ran straight into him. And only his hands on the top of my arms stopped me before I face planted his solid chest. He smelt as good as he looked. Damn. I should not be imagining things like that. “Sorry? For what Ami? Being sick?” His hands didn’t let go , in fact his grip tightened , his thumb brushing back and forth. “It was very unprofessional.” I stammered. It was no where near as unprofessional as right now though, or the thoughts that engulfed me. Really had to pull myself together and stop having naughty fantasies about what was in essence my new boss. Like what I would do if bent me over that glass and chrome desk and kicked my legs apart. Nope, definitely shouldn’t be thinking that. Dewi chuckled and I blushed, thankful he couldn’t read my mind. “Everyone gets sick now and then Ami, I’m just glad you are feeling better. Now tell me how can I help you today?” You can start my kissing me. I shook the thought out of my head and his smile deepened, his head actually dipped . And for a moment I was sure I had said it out loud and he was in fact about to kiss me. “I…” my god what was wrong with me? “I hope you have come to tell me that you will be taking the job? I have had an office prepared for you.” His breath blew over my face, fresh but with undertones of something smokier. Cinnamon maybe? I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. “Yes yes of course. I would be honoured.” “Good” he stepped away. His shoulder suddenly hunched as he went to sit down behind his massive desk. “I will have the contracts emailed to you this afternoon.” “Thank you. I also … I remember you saying lasagne is your favourite and I thought…” suddenly I blushed. What the hell was I doing. “I made lasagne, I don’t know if you have already eaten.” I produced the plastic container with one hand, and a small salad pot with another. For a second he did nothing but stare at me. “I’ve already eaten.” I felt my heart fall. Of course he had it was almost two in the afternoon. “Can you cancel my afternoon appointments.” His finger came off the intercom button and he turned his million dollar smile at me. “But I could eat again.”
