Chapter 2
Gabi’s POV
“Aunt Gabi, I have an issue to report, we are just waiting for a few more people to arrive. I have already mindlinked Dawson, Tanner, and my father, to meet us here and we can use one of the conference rooms. I wanted to advise you all at the same time on this potential problem. Please give them a moment to arrive, as I don’t want to have to go over this twice. It is going to be hard enough to say it to begin with,” Greyson told me. He is my nephew and the current Beta for my son Dawson. I have never seen him lose his calm attitude, even when sparring. This must be a serious problem, as he is clearly agitated.
I try to remember if I noticed something happening today. I see Tanner and Dawson arrive in the main living area, with Gavin right behind them. This must be serious. Before Greyson could open his mouth, Gavin called over to him, “Wait just one more minute, Greyson. Mom and Dad are on their way down too.” Well, now this has been upgraded to a very serious problem. I suspect that Greyson had notified his father of what had happened to make sure that he was doing all that needed to be done.
Dawson’s namesake, as well as being his grandfather, is on his way down from his apartment with my mother-in-law, Aria. The former Alpha and Luna, before Tanner and I took over from them. This is obviously no little matter that we are about to discuss. I reached out to take my husband’s hand. Tanner was just as anxious as I was about what this could be when Dawson suddenly said, “Let’s go to my office to discuss this as it is soundproof. I don’t think we need to be standing in the middle of the living area of the packhouse for this.”
“I agree”, Tanner seconds, and we headed to the elevator to go up to Alpha’s office. Gavin is already mind linking his and Tanner’s parents to let them know we are moving the meeting up to the office. I did not see a problem occurring here today while I was in the pack. Things are usually peaceful and quiet here. Unless we are doing weapons training, then it can get a little loud. We have both an inside and outside facility for weapons training, and the pack knows when we use the one outside. We even had the extra measure to have a protective spell protecting our pack. We haven’t even had a rogue break the barrier since it was put in place a little almost 3 years ago.
Non-violent rogues are still welcomed into our pack. I used to go down and speak with them outside the gates before they got approved for entry. Sloan took over that job duty from me last year. She has done very well with knowing who to let into the pack, and who to turn away. I have been letting her have full control of it for the last year. The ones that she was unsure of, she had made the choice that I made, each and every time. I only go down to the gates if she wants me for a second opinion. Tanner and I are glad to get to spend quality time with our grand pups. So I still manage to keep very busy, almost as busy as when I was Luna.
I can’t stop the fear that is gnawing at me. Something is terribly wrong, and I am mentally bracing myself to hear whatever this is. Dawson is as in the dark over this as we are. I can tell from the looks that Gavin and Greyson are exchanging, this is going to be bad. I just want it to be over with, and I hope they just give it to us straight, and quickly. I didn’t want to be in the dark any longer and I was glad when I saw Dawson and Aria already at the door to Alpha’s office. I could see from the look on their faces that they knew what was happening.
As soon as the door was shut, I couldn’t stop myself from saying, “Please, just tell us what is going on. I know it is bad. Just tell us so we can start working on solving the problem. I can’t help but feel that each moment lost, is costing us all a great deal.” Tanner wrapped his arms around me to comfort me, but until I knew what we were dealing with, I couldn’t calm down.
“As you know, we have a curfew in place for the pack, that we all need to return by 8 pm. We were missing an SUV, and I could not contact either of the missing pack members. I activated the tracker on the SUV and it was parked at the mall. I sent warriors to go to check it out. They found the SUV, but only one of the two missing pack members was found. She is not in good condition and is being brought back, along with the SUV, at this time. They will be taking her straight to the pack hospital. It was clear that she had been in a fight. The problem is that Elena is missing. I have two warriors going to check surveillance, as this is one of the malls that Wells Black owns. We should have some answers soon, but there is no way to determine who took her at this point.” Greyson told the group, and I felt my legs give out.
Tanner is holding me up, and heading for the couch for us to both sit down. My baby girl is gone, taken, and I can’t protect her. Tanner is just as upset as I am. He has doted on her ever since she was born. My mind is racing and I cannot decide what to do first. I am too stunned to give my usual orders. How can I go on without Elena? Thankfully, Dawson was quick to act for us both. He called his twin brother Percy at Ever Green and told him to get Heath to the office. Three minutes later, Greyson delivered the news that he had just given us to them. I can hear the roars of fury coming from them both through the phone.
The shock is starting to wear off, but I don’t know what to do next. I am usually very decisive and able to stay calm and logical, but not today. Until I have my daughter in my arms again, finding her will be my only focus. I can hear Heath starting to give out instructions to all of us, to get the ball rolling. He is going to have his mate, Von, call her father, Wells, at the Black Night pack to tell him what happened. Wells would make sure everyone who needed to know in the Black Night pack was brought up to speed.
Heath told me to contact my brother Stone at Crimson Shadow. He is going to have Von also notify her twin sister, Liz, for her to reach out to the Red River pack, as well as the River Bed pack. He will have Percy’s mate, Peyton, reach out to the Royal Knight pack. Her brother, Christian, is the current Alpha King, and I am glad to have him on our side for this. He can get us fast-tracked to declare war on whoever took her. I will not wait for this. If they drag their feet once we know where she is, I will just go ahead and do it myself. As far as I am concerned, it is better to ask for forgiveness, than approval, in this matter. What if they have allies on the council? That would give them time to prepare, and I refuse to give them an inkling that we are coming. They will figure it out when we arrive at their gates.
I have a thousand reasons to appreciate my adoptive father, Heath, over the years since I was brought into his pack at eighteen. He is a kind and caring man unless you hurt his family or his pack. Then may the Goddess have mercy on you. He and Von took me into their pack, and their family, at my lowest point. They helped me become the woman that I am now. I am very grateful to call them my parents, and I have never been more thankful to Heath than right now at this moment. He is directing orders right now because he knows that Tanner and I are overcome. He is doing this so we do not lose a moment of time in finding her. We all know that she is in danger. He knows that I will be over the shock soon, but I know without a doubt that he will be right there with me and Tanner to get our baby girl back.
I feel like crying, but my tears just won’t come. I am more angry right now at this moment than I have ever been in my life. I cannot believe that someone would be bold enough to do this to the Blood Rose pack. It is not a secret that we have some very strong allies. Maybe they were not aware of that fact. They certainly don't know who they have included in this attack against Elena. It will not just be Blood Rose against them, oh no. We are strong enough to be able to handle it on our own. With almost 1400 strong, and over 600 well-trained warriors, we are a force to be reckoned with. But we will not be doing any of this on our own.
They will also have to deal with Ever Green, who has even more members than we do. There will be at least 4 other very strong packs helping us out, along with a strong witches' coven. The chance that they will get away with it is very slim. We just needed to act quickly to get Elena back to us safely. I swear that I am going to find whoever took her, and I can assure you that this will be the very last mistake that they ever make. I will level their pack to the ground if I need to, but I will be getting my baby girl back. I just want to know the reason why this happened. Don’t get me wrong. There will never be a good enough reason for them to have taken Elena. I just need to know the why behind this, and I want to know it now.
