Varian's eyes fluttered open and he looked around, he turned to his bedside and his eyes landed on the clock beside him, it was a few minutes to three am. He felt a bit better, the pounding in his head had gone down and the throbbing in his throat was now negligible. He looked to the couch where Ellen lay.
