Phil’s Point of View
Shit. s**t. s**t! I need to get the f**k outta town, like now, but before I could I needed to unload some s**t for some fast cash. I ain’t never seen no s**t like I did last night. I don’t know what those f*****g pretty boys are, but they ain’t human I know that for sure. The whole f*****g lot of them. I barely got away last night, but I’ll be out of here by tonight before those freaks can bury their whores.
Dylan’s Point of View
“Baby, do you know where my phone is?’ I asked Rowan from the bathroom.
“Pfftt, my best guess would be the club, if it’s even in one piece.” I stared at myself in the mirror for a long time, I kept lifting my shirt up to look at my new naked body. Even though Rowan responded to my new different facial features exactly the way I wanted him too, I was still a tad nervous to show him what was hiding under his shirt that was also my wedding dress. I told myself I was being silly and took the shirt off, I took a deep breath and shyly walked back to the bedroom. I hid my body behind the wall and popped my head out at him. “What are you up to? Ya lookin for trouble?” he laughed.
“My body looks different.”
“How different?” I took another deep breath and walked into the room. “HOLY s**t DYLAN! Holy f*****g s**t!” He jumped out of bed and circled me.
“It’s good, right?” I asked him.
“Good? Babe, your body was amazing before, but this is some next level s**t right here!” He stared at me in wonderment.
“We’re gonna have to tell JJ the truth, I don’t see how I can explain how I look different, never mind survived.” Rowan put his hands on the top of his head and turned away from me. “What? We can trust JJ; I think she has her suspicions anyway. We might as well tell her; I won’t tell her Colton is a vampire if he doesn’t want me to.”
“Babe” his voice sounded shaky as he shook his head back and forth, his back was still turned to me. I felt sick all of a sudden, I knew something wasn’t right, Rowan turned to face me. “Beloved, I’m sorry but JJ didn’t make it.”
“What? Are you sure? Maybe Colton turned her, and you don’t know because you were too preoccupied with me.” I tried to make it, so it wasn’t true.
“No, my love. Colton didn’t turn her” he said softly.
“Oh JJ! My poor JJ” I cried into my hands. “She was the only one to give me the time a day on the beach when I moved here.” Rowan held me as I cried, he didn’t say anything, he just let me cry. “You texted me you’d be there in a few minutes, and I heard your bike.” I walked through the memories as they came flooding back. “I got so excited when I saw you turn the corner” Rowan held me tighter “JJ and I started to run to the entrance of the parking lot to meet you guys, and then I heard Danny scream my name and I turned back to look at him and then, oh no, no, no” I cried harder and pulled myself up to Rowan’s chest, he kissed the side of my head as I sobbed on his shoulder. “Her head, Rowan, her head.”
“I know babe, I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.” He held me until I stopped crying.
“Rowan, I want to talk to Danny, and I want to talk to Colton.”
Danny’s Point of View
I was having terrible luck finding something I was impressed with enough to buy for Dylan. What does one buy for a young woman who was murdered and turned into a vampire? My retail therapy wasn’t doing the trick this day, I couldn’t stop thinking about Dylan and Rowan for that matter. My phone interrupted my train of thought, it was Rowan, believe it or not. Talk about timing, “Rowan, I’ve been thinking about you. How is Dylan feeling? How are you feeling?” I realize it would’ve been more polite to at least let him say hello before I bombarded him with questions.
“Hi Danny,” My heart skipped a beat when I heard Dylan’s sad voice.
“Dylan love, what’s the matter? You sound so sad?”
“I just found out about JJ” she started crying when she said her name. “I remembered everything that happened when Rowan told me.” It was difficult to understand what she was saying through her sobs.
“Oh, love. You’re breaking my heart “I told her as I listened to her.
“I know you’re coming over later, but I didn’t want to wait to tell you how much I love you and thank you for saving me.”
“I love you to Dylan, so much, but I didn’t save you. Lucky and Rowan did.” I choked back tears as I remembered what happened and how I failed at keeping her safe.
“No, Danny, you did save me. You screamed my name. That’s why my head was turned, that’s why I didn’t get shot like JJ did.” I gasped, I had completely forgotten about that, I remembered hearing the first shots fired and screaming her name as I flew towards her.
“Brother, I will never be able to thank you enough for what you did” Rowan said hoarsely “Ever. I love you, Danny.” I paused as I collected myself, I’m British, the stiff upper lip is our birthright.
“I love you both so much” I finally said, “As I see it, we’re family, always.”
“Danny,” Rowan said, “we’re more family than you can believe.”
“Can you do me a favor?” Dylan asked me, her voice sounded sad and weak.
“Of course, I’ll do anything for you.” I told her, and I would.
“Okay, then I have two favors to ask” She pretended to laugh. “Can you send Scarlett’s number to Rowan’s phone please? I have no idea where my phone is.”
“I have it love; I will bring it with me when I come over. What’s the other favor?”
“Will you please swing by Laa’s? She has a package for me that was too big to have on the bike.”
“I would be happy too. At least I won’t be showing up empty handed. Because I am having a terrible time finding a present for you.”
“I don’t want anything; I should be buying you a present.”
“Rubbish!” I interjected.
“I mean it, plus any clothes you could buy me probably wouldn’t fit right.”
“Why? Why wouldn’t they fit right?” I asked her, somewhat alarmed.
“Man, you can’t even imagine” Rowan said, I heard him kiss her over the phone.
“I heard that! There will be no hanky panky while I’m on the phone, thank you very much.” I tried to act normal, like I would have had we all not suffered through the catastrophic events of last night. “Regarding Scarlett’s number, of course I will send it to you but I’m fairly certain she’s busy, since we’re on the topic of sex.” Again, I tried my best to cheer Dylan up.
“NO WAY!” She sounded like Dylan in that moment, and it did my heart good.
“Yes way!”
“Aye yai yai” Rowan said
“Whataya mean, ‘aye yai yai’?” Dylan asked him.
“I just mean this is a f****d-up time, everyone’s emotions are raw right now. I don’t see how this isn’t going to get messy.”
“I see your point my friend but there’s nothing we can do about it now.” I pointed out to him. “Oh, Rowan, before I forget, you have to call Detective Ray sooner rather than later. His words, not mine, and on that note, I will send you her number and I will see the two of you very soon, and I simply cannot wait.”
Colton’s Point of View
I don’t know how long I had been laying on my floor but there I was when Rowan called. I knew it was him by his ring tone. I didn’t want to talk to anyone, but I figured considering the circumstances whatever his reason was for calling must have been important.
“Hello?”
“Hello Colton, it’s Dylan” I sat up straight, I wasn’t expecting Dylan to be on the phone.
“Dylan” I tried to keep myself from getting too emotional, but I started crying all over again when she began to cry.
“We are going to make that mother fucker pay for what he did!” Hate dripped from her words.
“I like where your heads at Dylan but try to keep yourself as level as possible, being this upset will literally cause you physical pain, at least that’s what happened with me, and my turning was nowhere near as traumatic as yours.”
“Thank you, brother,” Rowan sounded as sad as I felt.
“For what?’ I asked him
“For thinking of Dylan, even now. That means a lot. I know your seething and I know I shouldn’t ask but please pump the brakes on any plans you might have right now. I’m going to call Ray when we get off the phone with you, we can go from there.”
“No worries, I totally understand. I would never do anything without talking to you. Both of you have just enough of a reason for revenge as I do. We have eyes on him, he’s trying to unload drugs and guns to fund his one-way trip out of town, but we put the word out on the street that if anyone helps him, they’ll have it coming, just like he does.”
“Good, that’s good. Just to be on the safe side disable his car so he can’t leave, and I want you to terrorize him. If you scare him to death so, be it but I want him to know the fear that we went through last night. Do not, under any circumstances let up on him.”
“Copy that brother” It was music to my ears.
