Rex (POV)
We had been driving forever. I just wanted to get to Ember and make sure she was okay. She had stopped moving. She mind-linked me and let me know she could not see anything, but it took ten steps to get into wherever he was taking her. I let Jameson know. He thinks she is being held in one of the cabins furthest way. They are bigger than the others. We didn't waste time looking at the smaller cabins. We headed right to the bigger ones.
I could see a cabin coming up in the distance. We counted the steps as we pulled up. It had five leading in so we didn't get out. I really hope Ember was right on her count.
We went to a few more, but they didn't have ten steps, so we kept moving on. It felt like we were wasting a lot of time. Jameson said there were just three more houses lef
