Ember (POV)
I woke to a woman yelling at Xavier. She was yelling something about him disrespecting her. I tried to sit up to get a better look, but Xavier was blocking my view. I looked around the room. It was late morning. Sam was sitting in the chair by the door with a plate of what looked like syrup.
"Xavier, what's going on? Why is that woman yelling?" I asked, sounding horse from sleeping. I needed something to drink. My throat was dry and scratchy.
At the sound of my voice, Xavier turned and rushed over to me, then keeled beside the couch.
"I'm so sorry we woke you baby. I was trying to let you sleep in, you need all your rest for training." he said, now leaning in and kissing my forehead. He was so sweet to me.
