I was standing to the side watching Ember and Sam go through the course. I was butting my nails. It was a nervous habit. Max made the course impossible for them to get through in their human form. He said he wanted to see what the two of them could do together. James, Seth and I were against the idea from the beginning. But Max insisted it was the only way to know how strong the two of them were together.
I insisted that her mates be set up around the course. Having them close by would make Ember stronger, even in her human form. None of them were wearing their bracelets. I was worried that Ember would get hurt, and I wanted them to know the moment it happened so that they could call off the test.
