Jia didn’t know what to think as Tala led them down the wide, sterile gray corridors of the research station. Dr. Lindstrom was an arrogant a*s, but that wasn’t the same thing as working for the Core despite their tendency to employ arrogant assholes. The same grandiose braggadocio was present as in a typical Elite or half-Leem agent, but it was hard to separate a man who believed in his life’s work from a Core agent aching to brag to random government agents about their successes.
