Chapter Nine: You bit Me

1909 Words
Avery's POV Alexei covered my mouth before I could make a sound. I grasped his arms and scratched at him to try and get him off, his teeth feeling like knives in my neck as he sunk his fangs in me. Sharp and deep in my neck as he sucked my blood. Tears fell from my eyes as I sobbed behind his hand that still covered my mouth. Soon I began to feel heavy and and so did my eyelids, Alexei retracted his fangs then licked the spot. It tingles a little, and my eyes failed to stay open. "I'm sorry, Avery. You need to sleep and so do I." I looked up at him, although they were half open. I had removed my hands away from my breast when he bit me, and now I was too sleepy to be embarrassed about it like I was before, when he asked me to take my shirt off. I felt the material of it wiping up the blood and saliva from my shoulder, if he needed something he could have gotten a towel. "Here," I heard him say, he pressed something to my lips and inquisitively, my mouth opened; the taste of his own sweet blood entered my mouth. Feeling repulsed that he was giving me more of his blood I coughed it up, turning my face away from it. Once was enough for me, now it wasn't needed. What would it do for me now? "You bit me, wasn't that enough?" I asked him. "With our bond, my blood will help you sleep. Avery I know you could careless about living but I need the sleep. I'm sorry that you are in pain still but you need this just as much as I do." for the first time since meeting him Alexei sounded genuine. I felt tears fill my eyes again, this was selfish of him. He was only thinking of himself. "You can block me out." "I'm not a werewolf, it don't work that way. A magical bond is different, stronger." He pressed his wrist to my lips again, I looked up at him through hazy eyes. "Don't make me order you, Avery." I held off my whimper and opened my mouth. "Good pet," I closed my eyes tightly at hearing that. how long would he make me suffer? A pet was worse than that of a Omega in a wolf pack. A human servant had a better chance at life than I did now. I saw Daniel's face while I did as he told me to, his eyes that twinkled when he smiled at me, or the way his single dimple would appear in his cheek when he was thinking hard on a problem for school before graduating. His brown curly hair that would frame his face handsomely or how it would form the perfect upside down heart on his forehead. Alexei's hair before I closed my eyes had the same curly upside down heart that Daniel's made. The same look that made me fall for him in his devilish eyes. I felt myself fall asleep not long after he had threatened me. I hope I had drank enough to his liking, I mean i wouldn't mind sleeping fully but he could have gone about it in a better way. Or I could have kept my shirt on, who knows what he did to me after I had fallen asleep. ***** Alexei's POV I climbed off of the bed once I realized that Avery had passed out on me, I used my compulsion to help her make the decision to listen to me, she was fighting it, I hadn't ever seen anyone fight it that strongly before. I brought my fingers up to my nose and furrowed my brows. When I saw blood on my fingers I looked back at the young teenage girl laying on the bed in front of me. I need to look more into her bloodline, for a witch who had been stripped, she still had a semblance of magic. I needed to speak to Genevieve about this. I couldn't have a loose cannon running around, she could be a danger to herself or worse; others. I grabbed the blanket from the bed and lifted them up and covering her naked chest. I shouldn't be admiring a teenage girl, regardless whether we had a bond. She was a girl, not a woman. That is mostly why I wanted to make her my pet, it would make me feel better knowing no other vampires are feeding off of her if she was mine. I picked up her shirt that she had taken off and without thinking brought it up to my nose. Her scent was sweet, like cherries. It matched the smell of her shampoo, it had embedded into the cloth of her shirt where her raven locks touched it. The sweet nectar of it made my thoughts slow, I relaxed almost instantaneously because of it. I glared at the door when someone knocked. I blinked realizing what I was doing and dropped Avery's shirt on the bed. I looked down at her, nodded knowing she would be out until mid-day tomorrow. I'd have her some food ordered and I'd sit with her to explain it better on what I did. Leaving the room I made sure to tell Marcus to go and rest. His room being a few doors down since she'd be asleep for awhile. I put another guard at Avery's door then went back to bed. My pillows calling my name, I yawned, I was drastically drained from the lack of sleep, I never took my robe off, once I hit the bed I was out in a matter of seconds. I woke up a few hours later, feeling like my skin was on fire. A foreboding feeling enveloped me seeing that the sun was setting, odd it should be rising. I rolled and found myself falling, I hit the floor with a grunt. My body was hot and blistering, sweat covered my body giving be chills all over and I shook involuntarily. I'm gonna kill her, I was fine before I drank her blood. Little b***h had to have taken something that made me sick, she must've done it before leaving the bathroom. I furrowed my brows as I thought back to the last time I saw her. No, she couldn't have. If anything she was scared, those nightmares zapping away at her rest. I only wanted to help. "Guard!" I yelled for one. Upon entering his eyes widened and he rushed over to me, he wasn't my regular guard. I couldn't help but snarl as he roughly pulled to up. "Where's my guard?" I snapped at the man. "Sick, someone tried to kill us by lacing our water reserve with Vervain. The higher ups, meaning you and your dad were targeted." My eyes furrowed in anger. "Where is my father?" I snarled, he was supposed to leave to see mom in Russia. Did he leave before this hit? "Thankfully he had left." I stiffly nodded. I heard the door open again, my head snapped to it. My eyes roamed over the girl who had her back to me and the guard as she held onto what looked like a basket. Or maybe something else? As she turned to face me it was then I noticed the long inky black waves, her stormy eyes was red and puffy. "You're awake," Avery whispered. I nodded, gazing ast how red her face and other parts of exposed skin looked. She no doubt could deny she couldn't feel what I felt, not looking exactly the way I did. I know I could feel her, but I wondered if she felt me. I asked her once and she ignored the question, by asking me about my dead wife. Avery knew how to get out of talking to me, I refused to bring my beauty up with her. It wasn't right. "What are you doing? I told you to go, the king is sick." the man at my side stood up blocking Avery from my sight. "I can help. I told you and all of those others out there that plants heal faster than any medicine Just let me try!" I gripped the man's arm and used him to stand up. "Your magic was stripped, how could you help me?" I asked. Avery rolled her eyes. "Have you looked into the type of magic my people practiced?" I narrowed my eyes, her former coven before it was burnt to the ground was very secretive, not many people knew much about them but knew not to make an enemy of them. "No!" "And knowing that should make you wonder how powerful I am." she said casually, shrugged her shoulders and moved to turn around. "Wait!" I reached out and grabbed her shoulder. "You can stay. But this won't change my decision about your role." I saw fear flow through her eyes before she hid it. Avery nodded her head and I let my hand fall. I told the guard to leave, when he did Avery came over to the bed and sat down. "Can you sit down?" I chuckled at her request. But I did do as she asked, she was carrying a basket, but it was small. it had a few oils in it and some herbs from the garden. I narrowed my eyes at the bottle of red liquid, her hands began to tremble as she heard my breathing pick up. She felt my angry aura push out, but fought the will to bend the knee. It secretly made me proud of her. "I did it myself. When I woke up yesterday and I was told you were sick, I've been thinking of how to help. I think my blood can, but I'm not sure." "So you're gonna let me willingly feed from you?" "No, it isn't like that, Alexei. I have to do it too, but with yours." Avery held out an empty bottle for me. Looking at the glass bottle I sighed, she was covered up in pants and a long sweatshirt. She no longer trusted me, I had never asked for her trust so it didn't bother me. "I hate you and you hate me, but unfortunately we're suck together, and the least you could do when alone is acknowledge me." "Acknowledge you?" she snapped at me. "I'm here against my will, all because you found out I had a bit of information on the man who killed your family, but guess what? He killed mine too. All because of my mistake, he killed them." Avery shoved the bottle that had her blood in it in my hands then gave me a bag of herbs. "Drink half now and the other half in an hour. Bathe with the herbs, it will help your body get rid of the Vervain in your pores." she huffed and left the room. I suddenly felt bad, she came in here to help and I was a d**k. Only thinking of myself, as I always did! So why did I now feel bad about upsetting her. I was sure I didn't mark her when I fed from her, so I didn't like how she made me feel. I could mark her, but that would make her my Queen, and I refuse to give her that title.
