First thing I heard was the familiar girlish laughter coming from down the hall, having left Ezra for the night. It took me aback. Normally, no one is up this late. And that voice I’d only heard at school. Becoming curious, I tiptoed towards the door, blue light streaming along the floorboards beneath. “It’s odd,” the voice said cheerfully. Cracking the door open, I peeked inside to see a large screen playing a video. The oversized screen took up most of the space within the modest room, like a home theater. My eyes widened at the sight of Daphne on screen, barely noticeable with dyed blond hair and rosy cheeks.
