Thirteen's POV
Lily hangs up the phone after calling Agent 1 and tosses it back to me.
"You called Agent 53 yesterday right?" She asks as she takes the seat in front of my desk.
"Yes." I reply, keeping my eyes focused on the computer. "He'll be here tomorrow."
Lily nods. "Well that's good cause Agent 1's going to be here in about..." She looks at the clock on my desk. "Ten minutes."
"Thanks for the heads up." I tell her before pushing my chair back and getting to my feet.
"Where are you going?" Lily asks.
"To make sure the boys understand exactly what not to do when Agent 1 gets here." I mutter, making my way down to the weapons room where I left them this morning. Lily follows me.
"What, do you think they'll try to kill him?" Lily questions sarcastically.
I just glance at her out of the corner of my eyes as we ride down in the elevator. Her eyes widen slightly when I remain silent and don't answer her.
"You really believe they'll try to kill him?" She asks me in disbelief. "They haven't even met the guy. Granted he's a pain in the ass but he is planning on helping us."
I just shrug. "That's not exactly the most motivating reason not to try to kill him." I reply just as the elevator doors open up.
Devin and Cody are both up at the shooting range and Chase's at the punching bag.
"Need me to set off an explosion to get their attention?" Lily asks innocently and I shoot her a look.
I'm really beginning to become concerned about her mental state...little too late for that.
"No." I tell her sternly. "Why would anybody get anybody's attention like that?"
Lily shrugs with a smile on her face. "It makes things more interesting."
Luckily Devin notices us and waves from his end of the room, catching Cody's attention and Chase's as well since they're closer to him than we are. They all turn in our direction and motion for them to come over.
"You need something?" Chase asks when he gets close enough.
"Yeah." I shove my hands into my pockets. "I need to talk to you three."
"What about?" Devin questions. "I promise I didn't do anything to the pool this time." I glare at him.
"Agent 1 is going to be here soon." I tell them simply.
"Alright good. It's about time we all got acquainted." Cody says and I shake my head.
"I need you all to promise me something." I start and they all give me a funny look but I continue. "Promise me you won't attack, shoot, or try to kill Agent 1."
They all give me another look and I let out a sigh. They're not going to like this...they're not going to like him. So I've got make sure they don't do anything stupid.
"Normally Chase, I can count on you to the level headed and responsible one...but not in this case." I tell him and he shoots me a look of narrow eyed suspicion.
"Should I be concerned?" He asks me. "You did say you knew the guy before he was an agent. Is there something about him we should know?"
I debate answering honestly and just flat out telling them everything...but I promised Lily I wouldn't because she wants to see them-and I quote-'go off the rails.' Never mind that I kind of want to do the same. This would be highly amusing for me if I wasn't going to end up being the one trying to keep the peace between the boys and preventing a World War 3 from taking place in my house.
Lily told me to just let World War 3 commence...I ignored her. Everybody knows she'd be the biggest instigator.
Scratch that. She'd be the reason World War 3 started in the first place.
"Oh come on, World War 3 needs me as a participant. I'm not leaving this earth till I've left a permanent mark and everybody begins to call me, she-who-must-not-be-named." That's what she had told me after I refused to acknowledge her.
"He's just very..." I trail off, trying out different words in my head but none of them seem to perfectly explain what it is I'm trying to say about him. How I'm trying to describe him. Lily doesn't seem to have the same problem as me.
"Full of himself, egotistical, obnoxious, stupid, know it all..." She trails off as she counts off the many things on her fingers.
"Huh," She says thoughtfully. "I literally just described my brother."
"Those are definitely some words to describe him." I mutter as I watch her laugh as some thought passes through her head that she doesn't care to share.
"Hold on. I can come up with a few more...but you might want to cover your ears...they're a little more...R-rated."
I clap a hand over her mouth before she can say anything else. "I think they've got it Lily."
She shrugs and pushes my hand away. "Suit yourselves. Hey do you think he'll be terrified of Angel?" She questions.
"Who wouldn't?" Devin asks in disbelief.
She just shrugs again. "Garrett was not at all fazed by her before."
I shoot her a look incredulity. "Garrett knew you had her? And didn't think to mention anything to me?"
She nods and sways back and forth on her feet, drumming her fingers along her leg. "He was with me when I bought her...though I don't think he ever saw exactly how big she got. I swore him to secrecy to keep him from mentioning her to you."
"Where on earth did you even buy that thing?" Cody asks in shock.
"Black market." Lily says nonchalantly. I groan and rub a hand over my face.
"What? It was a good deal." She says with a shrug.
"I'm not even going to bother to ask." I mutter and Lily shoots me a 'innocent' smile.
I shake my head and turn back to the boys, trying to pick up the earlier conversation .
"Just promise me no shooting, knife throwing, punches, kicks, or anything else you can come up with. We don't need someone who's going to help us to end up in the hospital because you boys decide you don't like him...especially you Cody."
Cody's eyebrows shoot up and Devin gets this sly smirk on his face and waggles his eyebrows at me.
"Is this guy a former flame?" Devin asks with a spark of humor, shooting a glance at Cody and even though Cody tries not to show it, the idea definitely does not sit well with him.
"No Devin." I tell him firmly, crossing my arms over my chest and trying to make it very clear that that part of the conversation is over. I don't need Devin causing trouble before it gets here...which is now in like three minutes.
I tap my foot impatiently when none of them say anything and seem to be off in some other world. Chase is the first one to speak up.
"Alright fine, promise."
"I semi promise."
"There's no semi promise Devin." I chide him and he just smiles widely at me.
"Uh yeah there is. It's right between no promise at all, and promise." Lily chimes in a duh tone.
I shoot her a glare and she holds her hands up in mock surrender but the smug smile never leaves her face. I turn back towards Devin and raise an eyebrow at him, waiting for him to continue.
"Fine fine," He waves me off. "I promise not to harm this moron in any way, shape or form.
"Cody?" I wait and he looks over at Devin who's definitely not helping anything, what with his side comments and facial expressions.
"Promise." Cody finally says simply and I nod at all of them.
They all walk away and begin going back to whatever it was they were doing before. Lily leans in close to me so she can whisper and I can hear her.
"You do know they were all lying through their teeth right?" She asks.
I nod. "Oh yeah." I mutter and run a hand through my hair. "I know."
"Good, good." She says as she nods. "Just wanted to make sure you were aware of that."
The intercom buzzes on the wall by the elevator doors. Me and Lily walk up to it and I press the button to respond.
"Yes?"
"Miss Kingston," Henri greets politely. "Agent 1 is here. Would you like for me to send him down to you?"
I pause with my hand above the button to respond, thinking. I glance around the room at all the weapons laid out everywhere. Yeah that's not difficult a decision to make.
"No." I reply. "We're coming up right now." I tell him.
I'd rather have the boys upstairs with maybe a couple weapons each instead of downstairs with practically every weapon known to man at their disposal.
Yeah upstairs is a much better idea.
"Just keep him in my office at the moment." I tell Henri. "I'd rather not have them trying to kill him the second we step off the elevator."
"Very well Miss Kingston. I'll have him wait in your office...though I somehow do not believe he will stay there on his own for long."
"One can only hope." I respond. "Tell him if he wants to live to stay where you put him."
"Will do."
I get in the elevator and the boys follow after I call them back over. Lily and Devin shove each other out of the way trying to push the bottom to go up.
Lily ends up being the one to push the bottom after biting Devin's arm when he tried to restrain her. These two are unbelievable.
Yes. Trained killer...who bites people when she doesn't get what she wants.
Devin shoots her a look and she gives him an innocent smile and I see his glare falter slightly. He looks over at me as he rubs at his arm as if to ask if she's for real.
I nod with a smile. "I'll get you a rabies shot when we get upstairs." I tell him teasingly and Lily scowls and flips me off.
She goes running out of the elevator the second it opens up. She runs straight towards my office and I can only imagine the conversation-or rather-curse words that are going to be exchanged between him and her.
But Lily has a way of making you feel like it wasn't her fault. Has a way of twisting words to make it look like it was all your fault. She's really good at talking her way out of situations. She is without a doubt really gifted with words...kind of like Ryder...except...worse.
I've barely made it halfway to the room before Lily's practically crashing into me from running back.
"Yeah he's not in there." She says with a shrug and stuffs her hands in the pockets of her bright Christmas green pants.
"Of course he's not." I mutter.
And I pray me or Lily find him first rather than anyone else...that'll be interesting. I really don't want to be present when that conversation goes down.
"Stay here." I say to the boys before walking off to find out where the hell Agent 1 went. I'm hoping to run into either him or Henri. I make a gesture at Lily and she nods, running off to try and find him as well.
Luckily I find him first. I lean back against the wall and watch him since he clearly has no idea I'm even in the same room. His back is to me as he's bent down with his head practically in my refrigerator, humming a song to himself.
I can't help but roll my eyes. "Just help yourself."
He lets out a yelp of surprise and then a string of curses as he bangs his head against the top of the fridge. He rubs at his head and turns around to face me, giving me a wide smile.
"I will thanks." He replies before shoving his head back into the fridge. I shake my head at him.
"You do realize I had Henri tell you to wait in my office right?"
He shrugs which I give him props for considering he's practically inside the fridge by now. "Got bored." He says simply. "There's nothing to do in there and your computer's protected by a password."
"Glad to know you've just decided to make yourself at home." I mutter.
He finally closes the fridge and turns towards me with a pile of food in his arms. "I have. Speaking of which, where's my room?...Or am I just going to be sharing with you?" He trails off suggestively with a flirtatious smirk plastered on his face.
I shoot him a deadpanned look.
"I'll take that as a no. I do I hope my room's at least next to yours."
"It's now going to be the furthest room from mine I can possibly put you in before you're outside with Angel."
"Angel?"
I shake my head and smile. "You'll see." I answer cryptically.
"Look at you. You learned how to smile." He says in a teasing voice and I purposely make my face go blank. He shoots me a flat look.
I hear footsteps approaching followed by Lily's loud voice. This'll be fun. I turn to face them when they walk into the room. They all stop in their tracks when their gaze settles on Agent 1.
He gives them a wide smile and a wave. "Hey guys."
