A tug on my shoulder, then a soft voice near my head rouses me from sleep. I roll over and blink up at the bright light above. There’s something wet underneath me. As the fog of dream lifts, I see Monie staring down. “Baby…Baby…it’s time.” “Huh? Time for what?” I say, rubbing my eyes. “My water broke, and I’m getting contractions.” It takes a moment for the words to register. Suddenly I shoot up. My mind shifts into overdrive, and all the plans we talked about for this moment go winging out of my head and careen off in different directions. Focus! Yeah, right! “You okay?” “Of course I am.
