Chapter 1- Natalia Logan
....... Lia ....... It’s Saturday, and I’m off, but I forgot to disable my alarm before going to bed last night, and now it went off and woke me. I always forget to do it, and it’s pretty annoying because I can’t go back to sleep once I’m up. I run my hands over my face, frustrated, still lying flat on my back while mentally cursing, annoyed at myself. After a long moment of just staring at the ceiling, I decide to get up. I might as well start my day early. It's not like I haven't got things to do. It just would have been nice to sleep a little late. I head to the bathroom and do my morning routine. When I'm done, I head back to the bedroom to change my linen. I put the dirty ones in the washer and make my way to the kitchen to make myself some breakfast. I’m used to eating early, as I’m usually already at work at this time. I’m a doctor, a cardiologist, and so is my mother, who's back in the UK, where I'm from. She's now opened her own practice, and I'm very proud of her. She was my first inspiration in choosing the career I chose. My father is a journalist, and I'm very proud of him too. I miss my parents so much. Living away from them is something I haven't gotten used to, even though I've been living here for more than a year now. I take out a bowl and place it on the counter, but I'm met with a surprise when I open my cupboard. I'm out of cereal. “Well, maybe it’s a good thing. I can make myself a decent breakfast for a change since I’m not rushing anywhere.” I mutter, grabbing a pan and placing it on the stove. After making breakfast, I sit and enjoy it before heading off to finish my laundry. After hanging everything that needs to air dry, I start folding the ones I washed in the week, but just then, my phone rings. I pick it up, and a smile makes its way onto my face, seeing the caller ID. “Mom. I’m great. How are you guys?” “You know me, always an early bird,” I tell her, smiling even though she can’t see me while slowly walking back and forth between the bed and the door. “Well, I’m busy sorting out my clothes a… yes, Mom, I’ve had breakfast already.” “Yes, ma’am, I’m heading to her place this afternoon. We are going out for drinks later.” “No, just us girls, no boys.” I roll my eyes at that. “I know, Mom and I will, just not now. Besides, I’ve only been here a year. I’m just getting familiar with the place first, and… I don’t want to complicate my life… I know, Mom. I know all that. I’m happy just as I am, I promise. You need to stop worrying so much. Okay. I will. Listen, I need to go now. Tyler’s coming to get me at ten. I promised to go tux-fitting with him for his cousin’s wedding… yeah. No! Tyler and I will always be just friends. Bye, Mom, I love you and give my love to Dad, okay?” I sigh, ending the call. My mother is always trying to interfere in my love life, or lack thereof, ever since two years ago. Two years ago, the only man I’ve ever loved crushed my heart into tiny billion pieces, turning my world upside down. He left me standing at the altar after telling me he couldn’t do it anymore. That was his only explanation for throwing away everything we had. I loved him with everything I was, and a part of me still does, a big part, but I’ll never admit it out loud because it hurts more when I do. It’s been two years since then, and I should be over him, especially with how things happened – how easily he just threw everything away and didn't even bother to make me understand why. I deserve better. I heard six months later he got engaged to Briana Mills, and I was shocked. I never saw their relationship coming. Her father, Nikolai Mozorov, is loaded. He owns malls and casinos. Briana is an only child and an heiress to the multimillion-dollar empire. Everyone thinks that's why he left me for her. They think it's because of her money, but I’ve never known him to be materialistic and greedy, but then again, I never thought he could do what he did to me. So maybe I didn’t know him as much as I thought I did. But can you blame me? We went to preschool together, and from there, we were inseparable. We went to the same boarding school, and we were together in med school as well. It was always just the two of us against the world. He was the love of my life and my only best friend in the world until we met Tyler Roberts and Nicole Kingsley at boarding school. Tyler and Nicole broke up, though, after two years, and Tyler started dating Kim a year later. Kim was back in South Africa, where Ty was from. I know Kim because we used to visit each other’s homes during the holidays, and I met her during a holiday we spent at Ty’s house. Aiden and I got engaged on my 24th birthday, which was on the 25th of December, and we were to be married in June of the following year. I was excited about becoming Mrs. Wesley, and we couldn’t wait to start our new life together, or so I thought. But it turned out I was fooling myself. He had other plans. It's been two years, and I'm still not over the whole thing, but I’m better than I was a year ago. I’ve only seen him in the media since then. And sometimes, I would put the TV on pause when I see them at these fancy events and bawl my eyes out, gutted all over again. It’s now 8:15 am, and I have to shower and get ready for Ty. After we graduated, Ty went back home, but we remained best friends. He was also present at our wedding. He was Aiden’s best man and was just as shocked when Aiden did what he did. I will never forget how he was there for me. Whenever I felt like I couldn’t breathe, he was always a phone call away. It didn’t matter what time of the night it was. He always picked up and never got tired of me. After I heard about Aiden and Briana, I went on a downward spiral again. My brain couldn’t comprehend what was happening. I felt like I was drowning. I was given time off from work because I was not coping, and when Ty heard, he took time off to come to London and be with me. Except for my parents, he’s the only person who’s been with me through the most difficult time in my life, and I appreciate him so much. And I thank God every day for a friend like him. I finish my shower and start getting dressed. It’s June month, and the weather is a bit cold today, so I decided on a pair of ripped black jeans, a black top, and black ankle boots. I top it all up with a silver coat that ends just above my knees and a silver beanie. I’ve got on my hoop earrings, and I’ve also put on some mascara and plum-colored lipstick. Heavy makeup is not my thing. I like to keep it minimal. Just as I finish, I hear the doorbell, and I head to the front to get it. “Good morning.” I greet Ty, stepping aside after opening the door for him. “Morning. How are you?” he asks as we share a hug. “I’m great. You must be tired. Are you sure you don’t want to do this some other time? You’re fresh off a shift.” I ask, worried he might be tired since he just got off work this morning and the hospital was busy last night. “Don’t worry about me. Being a single dad, I’m used to doing things right after my shift. I’m not going in later, so I’ll rest then," he says, proceeding inside. “Besides, I want to do this and get it over with. Unless of course….you don’t feel like going today?” he adds, turning and looking at me, and I tell him I'm good if he's good. I offer him something to drink, but he says he's fine, so I go upstairs to grab my things, and we head out. We get into his Range Rover and head to the tailor. He’s getting his tux custom-made for him, and I’m getting my dress made as well. He asked me to be his date for the wedding, and I accepted. When I told him I wanted to move and start fresh somewhere, he suggested I move here. I always found Cape Town to be beautiful, so I agreed, plus my parents were not thrilled about the idea of me moving away but wanted to support me. So when Ty made the suggestion, they also loved the idea because it meant I would have him and his family near, and they trust him completely. I also liked the idea of having him around. I feel very safe with him. So, Cape Town it was. “Did you drop Kiara at your mom’s?” “No, she is with my mom, but they are at my place. I was going to drop her off, but Mom showed up. She says she wants to cook for us today. She was going on about how I’m ruining her granddaughter’s appetite with all the junk food.” “What junk food? You don’t eat a lot of junk food.” “Exactly. She only caught us eating junk food twice, and I swear, I’ll never hear the end of it,” he says, shaking his head and chuckling. I think Aunt Debbie just wanted to take care of them. “She worries about you. I’m sure she’s just trying to give you a break. Plus, she knows you work long hours and never ask for help, even when you need it.” “Yeah, I know.” We start discussing how busy it was last night at work and move on to general topics after that, and before we know it, we have reached our destination. He stops in front of the place and gets out of the car. I take his hand and step out after he opens the door for me, and we link our arms together as we head inside. . . . . He did the fitting, and we went for my dress fitting as well. We are happy with everything, and the process was quicker than we thought it would be. He needed to do some grocery shopping, so I helped him with that and got myself some cereal. “Are you in a hurry? Would you mind stopping somewhere to grab a bite? I’m starving; I skipped breakfast this morning,” he asks, turning on the engine. “No, of course not. Why didn't you say something? We could have started with breakfast,” I ask, turning a bit on the seat to look at him, and as if on cue, his stomach grumbles. He says he wasn't feeling that hungry when we got here and thought he'd eat something when he got home. There's a restaurant right around the corner, and we head to it. “Good day,” a waitress greets, advancing to us as we enter and asks us to follow her. “My name is Sandra, and I’ll be your waitress. Would you like something to drink while looking at the menu?” she asks, handing us some menus after we take our seats. “A medium orange and mango juice for the lady, and I’ll have a macchiato, thanks.” Ty orders for us. He knows what I like. “One coffee and one juice coming right up,” Sandra confirms and walks back to the kitchen. “See anything you like?” I ask Ty after a moment. “I think I want this – this filet mignon with browned butter red wine sauce, roasted potato, and roasted asparagus. It looks and sounds nice. What are you having?” “Sounds good. I’ll have the lemon garlic shrimp pasta.” “Just that?” “I had a big breakfast this morning, and it was just over five or six hours ago, so I’m not so hungry.” “Five, six hours ago was a long time. It’s now lunchtime," he says, and just then, Sandra comes back with our drinks. “There you go, one coffee and one juice. Are you ready to order, or do you need more time?” “We’re ready. She’ll have the lemon garlic shrimp pasta, and I’ll have the filet mignon with browned butter red wine sauce, thanks,” Ty orders. “Coming right up,” she says and walks back to the kitchen. “I’m going clubbing with my cousin later, so I don’t want to be too stuffed,” I reply, sipping my juice. “Oh, okay, that’s nice. Where are you guys going? I thought you said you wanted to lie low this weekend.” “I did, but my cousin decided she wanted to try this new club, and there was just no getting away. Dylan’s away, so she wants to use this time 'productively’… she says. I’ll rest on Sunday, I guess. I don’t know where this club is. I didn’t even ask. I’d invite you, but it’s just us girls.” “No worries. I’m happy to dodge this one. I’m tired and plan to get lots of rest this weekend. You ladies, be safe and have a good time.” “Thanks. We will.” I have a cousin from my mother’s side, Sabrina. She came here during the summer holidays last year and met Dylan Forster, a businessman from Joburg, and three months later, they were dating. She now spends most of her time in the country. Dylan has a house here in Sea Point too, and that’s where she is now. Our food arrives, and I notice how Sandra’s eyeing Ty. She only glances at me and keeps looking over at him. But I’m used to it by now. Wherever I go with Ty, it’s always the case. But I get it. The guy is hot with his 6’2” lean, muscular stature and hazel eyes that draw you in. He's a beautiful man and one of the most caring and sweetest guys you’ll ever meet. I'm so lucky to have him in my life. “What?" he asks with a raised brow, seeing me looking at him with a knowing smile, and I shake my head. “Nothing. How's your food?" “It's good. How's yours?" “It's good," I reply with a smile, and we continue with our food in comfortable silence after that. .................................................................... Welcome to Falling For A Billionaire With An Obsessed Concubine. This is the first book of the Obsessed Series. Unlike its sequels, the book is a slow burn since it's the beginning. It will, however, take you on a roller coaster of emotions, and I hope you will enjoy it. Here are the books in order: ~Falling For A Billionaire With An Obsessed Concubine ~The Billionairess's Obsessed Mafia Ex ~The Bad Boy's Addiction All the books are written as standalone, so they don't end on cliffhangers.
