A New Level Of Threat

“The sentiment is not mutual, I did not find out meeting to be nice in any way at all.” I replied the instant that person talked to me as if our meeting is a joyous one. “So I am the only one feeling that sentiment huh? Well, whatever. I am still glad that I’d get to meet you in person. I have been dreaming of this moment since I was only a mere test subject but to think that it came true! I’m so happy that I couldn’t stop myself trembling form excitement.” He retorted as his body trembles just as he said.

               *TREMBLE!* *TREMBLE!* *TREMBLE!* *SWING!* *SWING!* *SWING!*

               He then started swinging his weapon in the air while looking at me maliciously. ‘What the hell is this guy thinking? Is he a p*****t or something?’ I thought to myself but then he immediately attacked me.

               *CLANK!* *SHIIIING!*

               I evaded his attack by bending my head over. His weapon struck the wall behind me as he immediately retrieves his weapon after his attack failed and then swings the weapon in the air again. “That was quite the fast reaction, as expected of the Hero of the fallen. You need to show this much reaction time and speed otherwise that title and the time we spent on the laboratory as guinea pigs would be a real waste.” He said in a different tone than earlier. This time his tone feels serious, not only his tone but also his demeanor. ‘Was he putting an act earlier? Well, that would be for the best since I didn‘t really like how he acted earlier.’ I thought to myself as I stole a glance at the dead men beside my feet. ‘Wait- he said they spent their life in a laboratory right? Was someone waiting and have been preparing for my appearance?’ I instantly pushed back those thought at the back of my head since the enemy is quite formidable than the others that I have face until then.

               *SWISH!* *SWISH!* *SWISH!*

               He attacked using his weapon again but this time I retaliated by charging towards his after he lets go of the weapon from his hand. He saw me charged towards him as he immediately retrieves his weapon before it even touched the concrete wall behind me. “Where was that enthusiastic expression earlier?” I asked after seeing him panic from my action. I was about to hit his abdomen when his weapon retracted a little faster than I expected so I retreated back. ‘Was he that desperate to defend himself? No- maybe he is like that from the very beginning and just held back earlier. I know that I am immortal but in order to extract information and understand him fast I need to show him that I am a little bit cautious. That will definitely lower his guard down.’ I looked around after seeing his flustered expression. “That caught me off guard, I thought you were about to dodge my attack alone I did not think that you would charge like that.” He admitted his action as he swings his weapon again. “I apologize for showing you an unsightly view earlier, I will take this seriously now so I urge you to be vigilant.” He added as he suddenly attacked without swinging his chained dagger but I was expecting it so I caught the chain in the middle of flight and locked it in my hands and pulled hard which pulled him towards me.

               *SHING!*

               ‘What the hell? He caught it in the middle of flight? Was he expecting me to attack without swinging my weapon in the first place? But still- to be able to catch it during flight needs a huge amount of skill- no! I shouldn’t be thinking about that right now! The fact that this guy caught my weapon is concerning- eh?’ my eyes widen after I am unknowingly pulled towards him. He spun around to exploit the momentum that he made to pull me even faster and then when I am just a few steps away from him he heavily stomped his left foot on the ground and made a one last spin but on the opposite direction, it was then that I know the next thing that will happen is as painful as it gets. His right foot was getting ready for a powerful kick as my body got dragged towards his foot’s range off attack helplessly.

               *BAM!*

               My body shook in pain and shock after his kick landed on my abdomen, the kick is so strong that I almost felt like my guts were crushed and my body was about to be torn apart and split in half. “KEEEEUK!” I groan in the sharp pain in my belly as some of my bodily fluids exit through my mouth which tasted really sour, it felt like I ate a whole lemon from skin to flesh. But it did not end there, he turned around after kicking me in the gut and proceeded to attack me with his elbow.

               *BAM!*

               A devastating blow shook my entirety as I fell on the ground powerlessly. The shock is so great that I was not able to show any other emotion than anguish and pain. ‘What the hell is this guy? His attacks are so precise and powerful- I should have been on my guard from the very beginning. Is this what they say ‘You will hit a wall someday’? Fxck- after saying that he should be vigilant I, myself ended up getting beaten the shxt out of me.’ I thought to myself as my consciousness slowly fades away and before I totally faint, I saw on the corner of my eyes some familiar faces.

               “That’s why the leader told you to be careful now look at you, you’re a mess.” Another mysterious person appeared in an instant looking down on the person that I took out. “Oh- he fainted.” He added after grabbing to see his comrade’s face. “To think that his enthusiastic behavior earlier led to this. Doesn’t he learn from his past mistakes? He is giving us quite the trouble every time he does something like this.” another one appeared standing on top of the street lights. “I was holding his down earlier but he slipped away from my fingers, next time I will put him on a leash and strangle him the instant I sense that he is planning to do something hasty.” A huge one entered the alley with a deep voice, his eyes glow a green color in the dark. “Let’s go, we need to treat him immediately. His guts area complete mess that it felt like he was run over by a ten wheeler truck.” The first one to appear from the bunch said as he lift their unconscious comrade.

               *CLANK!*

               The chains clatter as it gets dragged from the ground but soon stopped when it leveled on the chains that I held on my hand. The mysterious person turned back to me and looked at me indifferently. “Looks like the enemy figured out how to deal with his weapon huh?” he said without blinking an eye and then pulled the chain. “I will be taking that back.” He pulled the chain lightly but then. ‘Huh?’ I thought to myself as the sensation of my hand being cut slightly alerted me.

               *THUMP!* *THUMP!* *SHIIING!*

The chains got violently pulled away from my hands even thought I did not see him exert that much force which ended up with me losing some of my fingers along with the half of my entire hand leaving only the thumb. I immediately gripped my hand as my blood spill on the ground. ‘The dagger got violently dragged and ended up cutting no- slicing me up.’ I thought as I realized what happened. ‘But to think that he is that strong- these guys, they are dangerous.’ I looked at them without any slight hint of fear in my eyes. “We got what we came here for, there is no need to engage right now. We can fight another day.” The first one to appear said as his other comrades were about to pull out their weapons as well but then gave up and left.

               “You should be careful from now on Rain Ambro because from today onward, your life will be different from before.” The last person who left said as he carried his comrade on his back.
