On The Move

‘What suffocating pressure. Uncle must be really pissed for him to let his cruel side lash out on the people here. What pushed him to be like this?’ I thought to myself as I imprisoned the last and remaining person from the group. He looked really pale and afraid of uncle who is looking not so good with all of his veins and nerves bulging like crazy and glowing with a dark blue color. It looked like he had someone scribbled on his face no- his entire body with a permanent marker. He looks really ominous right now that even I am struggling to get close to him. “If you did that earlier- I don’t even know if we can find any trace of your body if you even anger him more. In his current state he can disintegrate a human without any problem so I advise you to stay put if you want to live.” I reminded the guy again even if he is already immobilized but I am just making sure. I looked around the place and saw a strange looking syringe that must have been uncle’s fuel for his rage. I wrapped it with a handkerchief and kept it in my pocket to look for more but found nothing. Uncle’s complexion is getting a little better and better after the explosion in the skies earlier. ‘Looks like it is over.’ I thought to myself as I grabbed my phone. “As expected, thank goodness I left my main phone at home.” I mutter to myself as I stare at my dead phone.

               A few moments later the other teams that we assigned within a kilometer arrived at the scene. “Rain is really cruel, he just have to fry our phones as well. Even the car is not spared as well as my other electronic devices.” Aron said with a sad tone as he looks at his phone with a sense of longing. “That’s why I told you to leave everything valuable at Olympus.” I repeated as I brush him off. “I’m sorry we are late Mr. Van the cars were fried even are phones are beyond redemption so we ended up running here on foot. I have already asked some of us to go and get a car from the headquarters and right now they are on the move as well.” The head of the entire group reported as he takes a deep breathe. “Is that so? Good job, now take a break with your team, you must be exhausted after running for one kilometer just to get here.” I ordered them to take a break but then the persons who managed to fly away from uncle came into my mind. “Oh and by the way, were you able to collect the bodies of the people that Rain is able to take down?” I asked before he left with his subordinates but before I could get an answer he looked a little terrified as he stole glances to the others that seemed like he is asking them if he should tell me the truth. He scratched his head and said. “I don’t think we can call it bodies Mr. Van, indeed there was something that fell from the sky but the moment it hit the ground the bodies turned to dust as if it was exposed to some high intensity of heat.  They flew right above us so it did not take us a lot of effort to run towards them but the next thing we know some lightning rods struck them both and turned to dust.” He explained with a terrified expression as he steals a glance at uncle this time. I was speechless, and stared at him after his explanation. I nodded my head as I understood that it was impossible to collect that bodies if it was left in that state and let them take their break.

               ‘It must have been terrifying, witnessing that sight in front of you.’ I thought to myself. “Where did y-ou get this monster? I reckon he is even stronger than most of my seniors.” The remaining member of the group asked me with a terrified tone. “He is someone you shouldn’t anger, especially if it reminds something that he had experienced from the past.” I replied without looking at his current expression. ‘He must be terrified as well, hearing that you are the sole survivor of your group. I turned to uncle and saw that he is already moving and had opened his eyes. “What happened Van? Is everything alright?” he asked the instant he gained consciousness. “Yup, everything is fine except for our phones and other electrical devices in such an extent, not to mention that we cannot recover the bodies of what you shot down from the sky since it has more or less reduced to dust.” I said with a little worried expression and as expected uncle is staring at me with a blank expression not knowing if I were telling him the truth. “Tsk! So it happened again huh?” he said as he clicks his tongue and shakes his head. “So he is the only survivor from the group?” he asked after he collected his thoughts. “Yes but he was quite this close from being a cold body if he stabbed you earlier, luckily I stopped him before he does something he might regret.” I said with a smile on my face.

               ‘So I lost myself again, just like that time.’ I lift my hand and saw that my veins are still a little dark blue and then buried my face under my palm. ‘I need to control this temper because if I don’t then I might have harmed other civilians as well.’ I saw the other group sitting down on the places they can find to sit. “Looks like they are quite exhausted didn’t they have a car- oh yeah- I broke it as well right.” I grit my teeth in embarrassment after remembering that my attack is like an electro-magnetic pulse bomb. I spent the next few minutes listening to Aron with all of his complaints about his devices getting fried and asking me for compensation. ‘Now that I think about it, how will Mr. Bradley deal with this much damage? The electronic devices in this area is a lot since this is still a part of a residential area. How should I explain this to him?’ I dive in my thoughts after reality hits me hard. But something interrupted my thoughts when I remembered that there is a syringe that was not able to be used. “Van, did you see a syringe thing around here? I definitely saw something earlier, I think it fell on that area.” I asked as I pointed next to the body that was covered. “Oh about that, I have already secured it. We need to have it checked later since it might be a lead to what the organization’s true goal.” He replied abruptly. “Good thinking Van.” I said after learning what he did, a few moments later. A number of cars arrived at the scene as the medical teams immediately got out and tried to check for someone with injuries. “Looks like they’ve arrived.” Aron said. “There is no one injured here except for that guy, he is beyond help.” He gave them a heads up as he pointed to the body a few meters away from me.

               In that instant, everyone moved and cleared everything before we left the scene. They carried everything that can be used as evidence, leaving no stone unturned, they even brought the belongings of the group from the demolished house. “We already contact a towing company to tow the fried cars and they are coming here as of the moment but since our business here is done we can go ahead of them.” One of the heads said as we drove back to Olympus while the others went straight to headquarters. “We need to give Rain a little break, he might have pushed himself a little hard back there. But I could come with you and give the report myself since he should take some rest.” Van said as he grips his pocket tightly. “There is something that I want to show him so I guess I should go there.” He added with a stern expression.

               *FWOOOSH!* *FWOOOP!*

               “Looks like we are too late. The place is already empty as hell. Tsk!” a mysterious person said as he comes out of the half torn down house. “It would be a problem if the institute were to be exposed because of this.” another one said as he leans down and grabbed some dirt covered in blood and insects it. “If it weren’t for that freaking laboratory we weren’t be in this position that we are right now.” He added as stands up and looks around and finds a broken syringe on the ground. “Looks like the fight is a little fierce that one them is forced to use this.” the other mysterious man found another broken syringe lying on the ground. “Two of them to be exact, there are four of them right? Where are the other syringe? To think that those bastards were able to get their hands on this thing. Now it’s going to be more troublesome.”

               *KSSSHK!*

               He shattered the syringe with his bare hands. “If the serum goes public then all those research that the leaders have poured their hearts into making will be for naught. Freaking escapees. Even the guy that the other guys are praising highly for his extraordinary adaptiveness also went missing. He was with this group right?” he said as he threw the broken syringe on the ground. “This is going to be troublesome indeed.” *SSSSSSSH!* he said as he drags his weapon, a long chain with a blade on the end. “We need to leave here immediately and report this incident to the higher ups.” The mysterious person then left the area right before the authorities came flooding in the scene.

               *BEEP!* *BEEP!* *BEEP!* *BEEP!*

               “Good day senior.” I nodded my head as we entered the building. “Where is Dr. Kunavus? I need to meet him immediately.” I immediately asked the receptionist on the lobby. She then dialed on the telephone and told the doctor that I need to see him immediately. “He is already waiting inside his office, please inside.” She said after a few seconds. “Thanks.” We continued to the doctor’s office after she confirmed it.

               *CREAK!* *METAL DOOR OPENING*

               “Good day doctor, we have something to report.” The mysterious man said as he bows his head. “Is that really important right now that I have to hold the surgery that I am about to do?” the doctor asked as he stomps his feet impatiently. “I think this report is of high priority doctor, we think the serum got in the wrong hands. We have been tracking down the escapes from the laboratory that exploded a few weeks ago and found out that some of they were able to get their hands on the Blight Serum.” The man explained as the doctor’s eyes widened in surprise. “What?! Then where are they now? Are they with you?!” the doctor’s complexion turned pale after hearing the sudden report. “Unfortunately doctor, we did not find a single person from the escapees, it is most likely that they were captured. We found the house where the escapees were rumored to be staying but by the time we arrived there the place is already a wreck and there we signs that a fight occurred there. Even our electrical devices were fried by an unknown force.” The man explained further. “Wait- your electrical devices were fried?” the doctor repeated and the man nodded his head as an answer. The doctor snapped his pen in half after the man’s confirmation. “This is bad, I think they are on the move.” The doctor said as he takes out his phone and called.

               *RING!* *RING!* *RING!* *RING!*

               “Who is on the move doctor?” the man asked in confusion. “Hero- the Hero of the fallen of Olympus is on the move.” The doctor answered with a worried tone as his face break some sweat.
