The moment a snippet of consciousness was returned to Flic, she grasped it with both hands and mentally hauled herself out of the depths of sleep she had been forced into. Her mind was foggy, but a steadily rising panic instilled a need within her to be aware and ready. For what, she wasn’t clear on yet, but she trusted herself and her instincts. Her breath was laboured and when she finally cracked her eyelids opened, sharp light pierced into them making her wince, but she didn’t relent. Groggily, she used her shaky arms to push herself into a sitting position and squinted at her surroundings, taking in anything she could see.
