Pain she hid (part 1)

1245 Words
Samuel held Sarah in his arms, each sniffle and low sob that came out her mouth made him feel like someone was twisting a jagged knife into his gut. She weakly laid in his arms until she stopped crying, and they stayed in that position for a couple of minutes, only then he moved swiftly pressed her acupuncture point. However, this peaceful silence didn’t last for long, as Sarah gasped in shock before she went completely limp. Gently he laid her back down and sat on the chair near the bed in deep contemplation. Samuel looked at her wore out face, the dark circles around her eyes, and the unusual yellowing of her skin. He was angry, Maxwell took her from him and this is how the bastard returned her. He gripped the chair so hard it made a creaking noise, That man slept in the same bed, he ate at the same table as her and never noticed her deteriorating state. How could Samuel know this woman was so serious in her acts that she’d risk anything to keep it perfect. So what was her health or skin for that matter? It was nothing to her because she had to act it to perfection. After sitting in silence for a few more minutes, a self-deprecating smile graced Samuel’s lips. He broke it. He broke his own rules just for her again. Not only that, but he said he would leave her to live her life however she wanted yet here he was sitting by her bedside crying like a baby. He slowly released his hold on the chair arm and looked down at his shaking hand. Who was he kidding? He rushed over here when he heard Maxwell gave Sarah divorce papers. He was precisely waiting for this day, then he mocked himself again. What if this day never came? Would he just silently watch over her selflessly? But Samuel let out a dark chuckle. Who was he fooling? As smart as Sarah was, she actually let it get this far? Samuel of course didn’t know it was all part of a carefully crafted plan, however her misstep, her impulse changed the fates of many others. Samuel clicked his tongue in a self-mocking way before standing and making his way to the window, he drew back the binds and the morning sun flooded in. He reached into his pockets and pulled out his phone, dialing the first number, which was answered on the second ring. “Get Damien in my office in one hour,” Samuel coldly ordered his subordinate over the phone, and without waiting for a reply he hung up. Samuel glanced back at Sarah and decided it was time for him to start cleaning up this mess, He took long strides to the door and pulled it open. Glancing at the men stationed by the door, he left after giving instructions and to those pretending to mingle in the lobby. When he left, half the people left with him, the other half stayed to keep the peace. The doctors and nurses he hired flocked into Sarah’s room to check on her before leaving, Stephine were allowed to be the only one in the room waiting for Sarah to wake up. About fifteen minutes later her phone dinged, she looked at her phone screen, and it was Samuel. ‘Her pressure point is released, so she will wake up soon and tell her I had to work I’ll be back later,’ -Mr. Castelo It was only then she realized why she hadn’t woken up yet, She silently put her phone away and waited another fifteen minutes before Sarah woke up Sarah woke up in a daze, her blurry only made out that a person was sitting there, and unconsciously thought it was him. “Sam, you bastard.” Sarah rubbed her neck and glared at Stephine who had an awkward expression on her face. Stephine cleared her throat awkwardly but was slightly baffled as her eyes flashed, it would seem Sarah knew he hit her acupuncture sleep point. Stephine stood and made her way towards the bed while contemplating, Sarah wasn’t completely unaware of how dangerous Samuel was, which made her dangerous. She wasn’t as harmless as she seemed. Did she know of all the moles he planted in her life? No, that can’t be right, Sarah doesn’t open up, she holds in her emotions. If knew that she was a mole, then she wouldn’t have opened up to her. Towards the type of person Sarah was, she knew the best from a professional standpoint. It took Sarah three months to start to tell her, Stephine, about her days and the other five months to reveal the pain she hid. Stephine knew working as a double agent for Samuel was against her professional training yet every session she had with Sarah was recorded on tape and sent to him for viewing. The man had complete and absolute control over Sarah’s life, even her little assistant was a double agent for him. Stephine couldn’t help but feel Maxwell’s cheating ways were somehow incited by Samuel. But thinking of his cold face and the unapproachable aura, she shook that thought out of her mind because even though he seemed to control Sarah, he never influenced her decisions ever. So many in that sense she was wrong, but in her professional opinion, Samuel was obsessed with Sarah. He wanted to own her, but it was still up to Sarah if she wanted to be owned by him or not. How could Stephine know the complications with their relationship? How could she know Sarah was acting her entire life. Even to the extents she would go..... She perhaps is more dangerous than Samuel because she seemingly had no bottom line. “Sarah it’s me, Stephine,” Stephine shook those thoughts away and began to talk softly to Sarah. Sarah who just woke up grumpily was stunned before she rubbed her eyes to clear the sleepiness away. Blinking a few times, she saw her therapist standing there with a concerned smile, Sarah’s lips tipped down in embarrassment as she cursed Samuel in her mind. She didn’t expect him to do that, she also had a bit of suspicion thinking her saw through her act, but seeing ‘his’ person in front of her she knew she was overthinking. "Doctor,"she called out awkwardly. "Why are you here?" “Well if you haven’t forgotten you attempted suicide last night,” Stephine paused to gauge her reaction, “I was surprised when I got that call last night. Do you want to talk about it” Sarah’s awkwardness was wiped out immediately as her hazy mind became clear again, everything that happened in the past twenty-four hours came back gushing. The divorce, the cheating husband and mistress baring a child. She didn’t speak, she just lowered her head and watch as her hands trembled in her lap. He betrayed her, Sarah wasn’t stupid, she knew he had a mistress but pretended to not know anything while working to be a better wife. She thought maybe if she let him keep a woman outside for a little while then after she had a baby for him, he would focus more on the family he had at home. But she was naive, how could he focus on her? He never loved her in the first place, so why would he start then?
