Chapter 5

"You're home early." Is the first thing Henry says as he enters the house at 4:30 PM. "So are you," I force a smile, as he walks towards me. To my surprise, he doesnt pass by me without a glance, but he actually takes me up in his arms. He inhales deeply, his hands wrapped around me. Something strange tugged at my chest as I embraced him also. "I missed you." I murmur and he hums. "How was your night?" He was quiet for a moment, before he chuckled slowly, and released me. "Please Cooper, let's not ruin the rest of the day." My saliva felt bitter as he yawns tiredly and pulls a bottle of water from the fridge. "Did you cook?" "Oh, I didn't know you were hungry. I've been cooking for the past six months and you never ate." How nice. He glances at me with an exasperated expression. "All you had to say was no, I'll order pizza." "Why are you home so early Henry?" I question. He pulls off his tie, and begins to unbutton his shirt. He shrugs, "just felt like it." "Right." I murmur. "You have to attend a business party with me later tonight." "Really now? What is this for exactly?" "I have a new boss, we're welcoming him into the company." he nods slowly, his eyes darting to the ceiling as if calculating something. "What time will this be over?" "Cant wait to yet away from me huh?" I scoff."I dont know Henry, but if you can last an hour or two before running of that would be acceptable." I stand to leave the kitchen but he grabs my waist and pulls me into him. "I'm sorry," he whispers into my ear. "Im sorry Cooper, I love you." "You love me?" I ask quietly, and he nods into my neck. "Did I tell you that you look absolutely beautiful today? No? Well you do." He turns me around to face him, tilting my chin up to meet his. "You look rather ravishing." He almost growls and I knew the look in his eyes. I'm not sure where the sudden feeling came from but I gave in. I gave in to whatever he was feeling, to whatever I was feeling. - - - "Zip this up for me please." It was 6:30 and we had to be there seven o'clock on the dot. Thankfully I wasn't those who spent two hours on makeup, neither did I take three hours to choose a dress. I had a simply stripped jumpsuit, that was fitted yet still appropriate I would say. I paired them with heels to make my look more classy. "Wow." Henry breathed. "Is that really my wife?" I blushed under his gaze, as he spun me around and I giggled, bathing in his attention that I so desperately wanted. "Let's go." He kisses my cheek and I sigh contentedly. Maybe he had changed his mind. We arrived at the party with two minutes to spare. I opened up my door and got out of the car. It seemed to be more than just a business party, this place was packed. The dress code was informal, so Henry had three quarter khaki pants and a black button down shirt. His curls were well moisturised and still damp, falling a bit over his eyes. I turned to face him, trying to brush it off his face but he grabs my hand. "Relax," he scolds. "I'm not a baby." I retrieve my hands before clearing my throat and leading the way in. His hands found their way on my lower back, and he pulled me closer to his side, probably because of the stares I was getting. Everyone seemed to have a dress on, I began to feel underdressed and a bit conscious. I searched for Denzel in the crowd, and found him, his head tilted back as he laughed loudly at something another man said. I decided to go to him. "Mr. Shear." I tap his shoulder and he spins around. "Cooper," his eyes lights up as he sees me, and then they land on Henry "and you must be the husband." "Oh she told you about me," Henry grins proudly down at me, and I couldn't help but force one up at him, suddenly annoyed. Denzel looked great, in some tight yet loose fitting black ripped Jean's, and a simple white crew neck sweater. His short black hair was well kept as usual, his smile pearly white and straight. His long eye lashes batted against his cheek, while his perfectly arched eyebrows moved along with his facial expression. "Cooper." Henry nudged me and I jumped. "Huh?" "He asked you whether you wanted something to drink," "Oh," I clear my throat, noticing that Denzel was smirking at me. "I'm fine thanks, excuse me, I'm gonna find the bathroom." Escaping from the both men, it was rather easy to find the ladies room. It was pushing through the heavy dinosaurs that became a problem. After finally making it, I stand in front of the mirror and glare at myself. "Girl what're you doing?! Ogling at your boss while your husband's right there? Get your self together." With one final glare, a pat of the weave and a glance at my butt I made it back out there. Denzel was in the same spot, now alone. "Have you seen my husband?" I furrow my eyebrows. "Oh, Henry? He's over here, making new friends I suppose." He points to where he was. My stomach was in knots as I found him already with a drink in his hand, surrounded by mostly women with a huge smirk on his face. Relax, its. . . It's a part of the agreement. Yea well, not in public! "Excuse me once again," I laugh nervously before stoming over to him. Grabbing him by his elbow, he turns to glare at me. "What are you doing!?" I yell over the music. "I'm having a good time, what's your problem?" "You're embarassing me Henry, this is public if you need me to remind you" "Oh I'm embarrassing you now? I guess I'll just leave." "We just got here!" But his back was already burnt as he headed out of the door. I followed him out. "What're you doing? We took one car." "I guess you'll just have to figure it out then, wouldn't want an embarrassment following you around." With my mouth wide open I watch as he gets in and speeds off. Leaving me stranded at my boss's welcome party.
