Scarlett's standpoint. “Why don't we go inside and have this conversation?” Kaiden proposed in a soft voice with his hand wrapped around my shoulder. Winter glared at me while she waked past me into the house, brushing her shoulder against me. This will be more that I thought, I thought with a forced smile smeared on my face. We all entered the house and settled in the living room. Cherryville and Elian sat on the couch, across Kaiden and me, while Winter and Jaron sat at the extreme couch in the corner of the room. A loud silence sat with for a few seconds before Kaiden broke the silence. “Cherryville and Winter, I know this is the hardest for you, but there's nothing we can do.” Kaiden started in a soft voice, his eyes darting to everyone, including me. Though Cherryville's face squeezed with a sad look and tear welled in her eyes, Winter was the opposite. She looked absolutely calm with a sly smile that played on her lips. “Nothing we can do? Is that what you think, Alpha Kaiden?” Winter question, her voice harsh and raised. I could hear the little growl that escaped Kaiden’s lips, frowning at the disrespect in Winter's tone. “Watch your tone, Winter. You're talking to the Alpha.” Jaron warned, his voice barely above a whisper. Winter shot him a glare, a line appeared between her brows. “Oh, is that what you think?” She sassed with her lips slightly pouted before turning to Kaiden. “Then, I'll talk to him as my brother-in-law.” “I think we can do better than this,” Elian said in his cool voice that made all eyes turn to him. “This is the Moon Goddess's will, how dare you speak in that tone?” “The Moon Goddess's will that a lowlife from another Pack will come snatch my man? Never!” She squeezed her fist tightly, her face marred with rage, met mine. “If Cherryville has decided to given up her man, I'll fight for mine.” The argument went on for minutes, each voice clashing in my mind and thoughts. They spoke about me as though I weren't there. “A new life… I want to start afresh, be something more than just the cursed wolf, but less than 2 days here, I've divided this lovely family.” My heart filled with pain at the thought of this. “I'm… I'm here,” I said slowly when I found my voice. Their furious eyes landed on me, almost crashing me to the floor. It was one of those familiar looks I've earned myself in my Pack. “Don't talk about me like I'm not here,” My voice, though shaky, was firm as my eyes met with Winter's. “I'm not here to snatch your men from you. If anything, I came here for a new life, not that look in your eyes.” I said and rose to my feet, trying to fight off the tears that threatened to blur my eyes. “It was a mistake for me to think I could get anything other than being the “cursed wolf.” I'll leave, and I hope you all can go back to how you used to be.” I turned and made to leave, but the three men rose to their feet. “Wait!” They chorused in a deep voice. Their voice felt like a string attached to me, pulling me back even when all I wanted was to leave. I've caused even pain to people, I can't just ruin what they have. Not again. “You can't just leave. You have to stay a week.” Kaiden's voice reached my eyes. My lips trembled as I clutched to my fist in rage and turned to him. “I can't just leave? Is that what you think? I've been here not less than 2 days and this is the chaos I've brought?” A scoff travelled through my lips, I smacked my lips slightly, disbelief coursing through them. "This can't be happening. Maybe all I am I just the “cursed wolf.” I yelled out, tears oozing down my cheeks. It's been since forever since I let anyone see this part of me. I've always been strong, at least, good at pretending to be strong. But with them, I just thought… For a moment, I thought I could have a happy ending with them. Perhaps, my life isn't a fairy tale after all. Cherryville, who had been sobbing silently, rose from the couch as I fell to my knees and walked to me. She wrapped her arms around me, her warmth was just all I needed. “That's it. Just let it out like that and you will be fine.” She whispered into my ears, but loud enough for everyone to hear. “Fine?” Winter's voice tore through the silence with a scoff. “You want her to be fine when she's about to steal your man from you?” Cherryville was about to reply her when I pulled the sleeve of her clothes, shaking my head. At least, I'm the cause of everything and there will be no need to fight over that, especially when I will be leaving soon. “You should keep her in line,” Kaiden gave Elian a stern warning and turned to me. He was about to take a step closer to me when I rose to my feet, with Cherryville, helping me. “That's enough, Alpha Kaiden.” I muttered, avoiding his gaze. “Alpha Kaiden?” Though I couldn't see his gaze, his voice sounded surprised. “You all want me to stay a week, and I will. I'll be gone from your lives after.” I said in a hushed voice and turned to Winter, who was unable to hide her disgust for me. Her face etched with a frown, contoured with disgust. “I'll be gone before you know it. Let's get along for the next few days.” I forced a smile up my lips, one that didn't reach my eyes. Yet, I'm thankful for it. I almost can't remember when last I smiled or faked one. I shifted my gaze to Cherryville, taking her hands in mine. “I'm sorry I had to cause you this much pain.” “It's part of life. Perhaps I've been too happy lately and the Moon Goddess wants to remind me how relaxing tears can make me feel.” Her lips curled into the most beautiful smile I've seen. I stared at her for a moment, confused and shocked. How could she be this happy? This calm? This accommodating to pain? How could she process her pain into something of such a beautiful smile? I could only think, but I was left with no answer. “Let's get you to your room.” Kaiden's voice shook me back to reality. My eyes blinked and my lips heavy to say anything. As though Cherryville could read my mind, she turned to him. “I'll take her.” She suggested, taking my hands before any of them could refuse. We walked up to my room and I perched on the edge of the bed, letting out a deep breath I didn't know I've been holding in. “Are you okay?” Her warm voice woke something up in me. Flashes of my dead mates appeared before my eyes. How they cared about me, how they loved and cherished me. Even after all the tragedies, not even one of them cared enough to ask how I was feeling. Cherryville sat beside me, gently wiped my tears. “Did I say something wrong?” Our eyes locked, and her face slowly faded away, replaced by my mom's. I threw myself into her arms. “This must be death, but I'm glad to be with you, mom. Don't you dare leave me alone again!”
