It was really hard for Tristyn to find something that Iorwen was attached to. He did come to realise she loved two things, music and books. The girl had no proper family; she had friends but was not open even to them. She had never had a boyfriend and not even a pet. Most of the times she kept to herself and half the school were too scared of her.
Even the girls in ‘bitches’ category didn’t bother her. Tristyn realised that back in his visible days she would never had been his first choice. She always targeted the girl who had an appeal scale for others, like a trophy. But she had no other boy pursuing her and that surprised him. She was decently good looking if not really beautiful. And since he had seen her in action, he decided she was really sexy.
Now his last idea was to be truthful with her. As per her life story, she had been kind of in invisible category, the kind people don’t miss even if they are gone.
After five days of gathering information Tristyn decided on being sincere. That was a first for him since he didn’t need to get to that part to charm any girl. His finely made fake shell worked just fine until now.
This was her lone time and he was standing at a safe distance from her. She was in super market with her earphones plugged in as she gathered some groceries and other essentials. She never bothered to dress up pretty which might help in her case. She was wearing ripped jeans, a long black sweater with headphones printed on it and white converse.
Her wine hair was tied in a messy knot behind her and her head swayed with the music she was listening. It was enchanting to watch her even though she dressed up just like him. She stood there contemplating between flavours of chips.
“I will go with this one.” Tristyn said choosing the Tangy tomato one.
And expectedly she groaned and chose the opposite, onion and cheese one.
“I have great taste buds just so you know.” He said in a mock attempt of being hurt since she choose contradicting his choice.
“And you are not eating that food; I am. So excuse me if I don’t care about your taste buds.” She said thankfully pulling out the ear plugs.
That made Tristyn smile.
“Wow you are like Teflon, even after I handed you ass to you it only took you five days to wander back to me.” She said mocking him.
“Aww, you missed me Senorita! You were even counting days.” He said amused by the idea that she knew that he was not there for exact five days.
“Did I not tell you to call me that?” She asked angrily almost throwing the next thing in cart.
“And did I ever tell I will listen?” He said with a cocky grin.
She sighed, frustrated.
“Are you related to Narcissus?” She asked feigning curiosity.
“The Greek dude who fell in love with his reflection?” He asked surprising her with the knowledge.
“Yeah that one.” She said wryly.
“So you think I am that good looking that even I could fall in love with myself.” He asked too innocently.
And then dramatically clutching his heart he said, “Oh! I am honoured Senorita!”
“You are the only mistake I think that almighty made.” Iorwen said with an incredulous expression on her face.
“Like the powerpuff girls who became all perfect by mistake. I think you might be right there.” He said giving it a thought tapping his finger on his cheek.
And there was that damn dimple again!
“You watched power puff girl?” She asked surprised and also amused.
He shrugged not elaborating or even trying to defend himself. The boy was so full of himself.
She scoffed and continued with shopping.
“Do you this boring stuff daily or today it is something special?” He asked moving along.
“If I have to live and not starve to death I have to buy this for home. My aunt is not what you can put in responsible adult category.” She said in a flow and realised she said out the words she wouldn’t normally say to anyone.
“I can help if you want.” He said with a new softness to his tone.
“Puh-lease, asking for your help means listening to cheesy lines for that very long.” She said not directly refusing his offer.
“I promise to be on good behaviour, well good as much as I could be around a sexy girl like you Senorita.” He said playfully.
She glared at him and entered the line of fruits next.
After a while she noticed he was almost ogling a girl with really short top and low waist jeans. Typical.
“I sympathise with you.” She said suddenly.
“You do?” He asked immediately his attention shifting from that girl to Iorwen.
“yeah, I mean here you are dying to bang some really pretty and shallow girl and you are stuck with me.” She said in a flippant tone.
She thought she saw hurt but another moment amusement flickered in his shimmering blue eyes.
“I would not use the word stuck Senorita, more like fated.” He said with a grin.
“Only I could be this unlucky to be seen by you in some game played by Fate.” She said indignantly.
“I am not that bad and I know you hide your feelings behind all that smart ass comments.” He said acting all high and mighty.
“You think you are a god’s wonder that every girl will love, don’t you?” She asked with genuine curiosity to know the answer.
“So you think so to, good to know we are on the same page.” He answered with a sly grin.
“And I thought you were helping me.” She said rolling her eyes and moving to check out counter.
“Me being here is help great enough.” He replied spreading his hands in a flamboyant gesture.
“Now I know what haunted and troubled by ghosts mean. It isn’t necessarily that the ghost wants to kill you, he might also talk you to death.” She said tiredly.
“I am no ghost Senorita, mind you. I am very much living.” He said annoyance colouring his tone and he frowned.
“Then why are not visible to anyone else?” She asked seriously.
This was the moment of decision, he did decide in sincerity but letting her know of his past was uncomfortable and too much. She already disliked him, knowing that he was cursed because of his ways might make her hate him all together.
He looked at the question in her unusually drawing jade green eyes; they were soft and gullible unlike her tough persona. And something made him let it go...
“I am cursed.” He said as soft as a whisper hoping that she might not have heard it.
But her speculative eyes said she heard him and was debating on whether he was joking or not. This girl was messing with his confident playboy mind.
