New Kid on the block

1806 Words
Kai Arden was there, in the high school partially because his wife broke the promise but majorly because he had known and seen Tristyn Moore. Back in the time when Kai was the heir to the throne, he always saw girls talking about him, crowding around him and he knew well enough how he played with hearts of all girls. But the major blow was how he even got a wife who was left heartbroken by him. He hated Tristyn and now he was after the only girl he ever loved. It’s amazing how in an immortal life you can find only a single person to love and that was Iorwen for Kai. Thankfully the girl was not head over heels for Tristyn and that eased his mind. But he suspected it was a matter of time till that happened since he was hell bent of trapping her. Anyone would, she was his only chance at breaking the curse. He ran his fingers through his chocolate brown locks and sighed feeling nervous. Today was the first day when he will be meeting the girl and knowing her nature she will not even talk to him properly. That brought a smile to his face, her nature was the thing that attracted him. “Mr Arden, here is your time table for the class.” He was handed the time table he spelled to make it similar to Iorwen. English was the first class and his searched the crowd for her when finally his eyes found her. She was wearing a stripped t shirt and over it a denim jacket accompanied by a black jeans. She was always dressed like that, casually and comfortably. He decided to do the centuries old trick, go ahead and bump into her. “Watch where you go ass-hole!” She scolded. He chuckled at her expected response. “I am sorry, I was looking at the school map. I am new here.” Kai said giving his best smile. “Oh, I was just in a bad mood.” She mumbled and totally ignored him. It hit him when he realised that it was really hard to even get her attention. “Can you help me find the next class?” He asked to keep up the conversation. “Umm.. I don’t think so.” She said dully. Iorwen was in a real bad mood since she vented her anger over anyone and everyone. It happened after her fight with Tristyn. She was angry at herself for being so easy and vulnerable when he was around and she yelled at him instead. She fought and argued and evil-mouthed some people but she was uneasy after her little fight with Tristyn. Maybe it was because she knew he was already invisible and she was the only person who could see him. “Oh, I am Kai by the way.” He said trying to introduce himself. “Awesome, can I go now.” She said frowning at the new guy trying to talk to her. What the hell is wrong with universe? As she settled in the English class with Rachel, her eyes unintentionally looked for Tristyn but he was not there. It had been two days since she last saw him. “Now class I am dividing you in pairs to complete a project on Macbeth. Choose the most attractive scene and I want you to list your opinion on how you could re write that scene.” The English teacher Eva said. As she announced the pair, Kai made sure that he was placed with Iorwen. Iorwen on other hand thought that she like always would be doing the project with Rachel. “Haywell and Arden.” As Ms. Eva said Iorwen’s head jerked up in shock and anger. “I want Rachel as my partner.” She almost ordered. “Please Ms Haywell, partners are decided and nothing will change that.” Eva said sternly. As much as a badass Iorwen was for others, she respected the teachers. She said a grumpy yes. “He is cute Iorwen, really hottie.” Rachel tried to cheer her up. She gave a quick assessment to the guy. He was tall, lean, and little on paler side with really dark brown and two dark orbs peeped out from his long handsome face. He was good looking Iorwen decided and so naturally she knew he was going to ignore her. As the class ended she walked to her locker mentally deciding on her favourite scene from Macbeth. “I hope we don’t do the Et tu brute scene, it’s too cliché.” Kai said from behind her. “And let me know what you want to do? I will agree if we match.” She said a little nicely since the boy was not ignoring her even after she has not talked to him nicely. “Can we meet for a coffee and discuss?” He said hopefully. “Kai do you want me to kick your ass, haven’t you heard about me?” “I have heard about you but I am taking my chances.” Iorwen tried to decipher the meaning behind his words, why was he being nice to her? Wasn’t she invisible to male population, except to the invisible males most probably? “let’s re start okay? Hi, I am Kai Arden, the new kid.” He said extending his hand and smiling with gentleness. It came as a surprise to her, firstly he was good looking, secondly he was talking to her and finally he was not all time perverted and flirty but decent. “Iorwen Haywell, the bad kid.” She said returning the hand shake. “So now we meet for coffee and discuss project?” He re-tried. She scoffed at his try. “Better luck next time new kid.” She said in no mood to discuss anything with him. And maybe he will soon realise that she was the wrong choice to talk to and stop bothering her. She was bad with interactions, worse when she had to do it with some nice person. And she always did her projects alone since Rachel was not the one to work on something related to education. “Who is was the guy you were talking to?” Her heart skipped a beat when she heard him. “Where the hell have you been?” She almost yelled and then mentally cursed herself for the reaction. “Aww, Senortia! You missed me.” He said with his cocky grin. She realised he might be a tiny bit right and this angered her. “And you are stalking me? Why should I tell you about the guy?” She pretended to play along. It was getting fun to annoy him. “Of course I am stalking you. You think I will let you out of my sight, remember I could only be seen by you.” He still ignored the questions about his where abouts. “Now about the guy Iorwen, who is he?” He asked rather seriously. There was harsh light in his eyes, a look that took her breath away. He was angry at something. It was her first time seeing him this agitated. He was calm for a dead guy or whatever he was. “Just some new guy.” She said dejectedly. Tristyn relaxed at her tone. “The way he looked at you was not right.” “He was a guy, what do you expect?” She said half joking. “I am not joking Iorwen.” He said without calling her Senorita. “Mr. Invisible are you... jealous?” “No I just want the naive fragile you to be safe.” He said teasing her knowing full well that calling her fragile will get a desired reaction. “I am not fragile and I definitely don’t need you to keep your eye on me. It would be better if it was on someone else.” She retorted. She was so easily agitated and that amused Tristyn. “But you don’t really want me to look elsewhere, you only want my eyes on you.” He said in his heart melting flirting. “On the contrary I want you to stop chewing my brain and hate any attention on myself.” “But Senorita, we don’t always get what we want. Like I want to kiss you but I don’t see that happening anytime soon.” His tone dropped an octave inversely proportional to his sexiness which raised a notch up. He wanted to kiss her and the look in his eyes was intense. “True that, I don’t see that happening ever!” It was a lie, she had unfamiliar desires built in her, whenever he was round something weird starting happening. “That crosses over your career as a tarot card reader or any kind of future telling psychic. You are really bad at seeing future.” He said with a sly smirk. “Like you know the future?” She said totally dazzled by his smile. “Not everything but I do know that you will kiss me, willingly Senorita!” He said it like a promise, like a bet. She never lost a bet especially with a guy. This sounded like one. “Are you challenging me Invisible?” “Whatever you think.” “I never lose a challenge Moore.” “Fine, If lose I will kiss you and if you lose you will kiss me, how about this?” “Moooreee, how about in every case I just kick you?” “I love when you think about getting physical with me.” He sighed dramatically. “You think dirty perv!” She said feeling all fired up and aggravated now. “No, I have sexier imagination!” He winked and her heartstrings experienced the now familiar pull. “You are going to win Senorita!” “I know that!” “Most definitely you will win a kiss from one and only me!” She turned away sharply now her patience on verge of snapping. “Senorita, even fate knows you are mine. Keep away from the New Kid on the block.” He called out with a ring of sincerity. But Iorwen shook it off, he can’t possibly mean that. She knew deep in her heart that once any pretty girl saw him , he will wander off to her. She had to remains as she was, rude and strong. But she could annoy him and talk to the new kid if that works!
