Book 5 of The Protectors Series
Status: Complete
“They will come. No matter what I do, or how hard I try, they always come; and when they do, they always try to kill her.”
It’s not easy being different, the strange one. The foster kid, the unwanted one. Every home Lucie’s ever been placed in she was returned, a haunted look in the adults eyes as they handed her back. The orphanage paired her with Chris, the only child who liked Lucie, hoping it would help her get out of their hair, but to no avail. There was just something about her that unnerved the adults, and they couldn’t stay near her for long. Lucie was a good girl, religious, and smart. She had a plan for her future, however, nothing was going to plan.
Lucie wakes up from a coma after an accident to find herself in a whole new world filled with supernatural beings, and somehow…it’s all centered around her. Horrified by this news she goes out one night, and comes across a mysteriously familiar stranger. She knows from the others that he’s dangerous, out to kill her, but she can’t stop going to him, strangely drawn to him. Will she be able to resist him? Or will she fall, even if it means she’d risk the prophecy, the lives of everyone who’s relying on her?

Jasper is centuries old, one of the three strongest vampires in the world, the Prince of the Vampires. Despite his title, however, he was a prisoner, a pawn in the war with the Protectors and his parents. Jasper is tired of being the Prince, always the prince, never the king. He knew if he was just given the chance he could lead the vampires better, but with your parents being eternal, when would he ever get the chance to prove himself? Knowing the prophecy means this is the last time the daughter will be born, Jasper knows this is his only chance. To use the war, and when his father was distracted, he was going to kill him. Take over as the new king, and kill the daughter, to show the vampires he had what it took to lead them into the new era. However, nothing was going according to plan. The new protectors this time around were getting under his skin, making him pause. It doesn’t help that the mother of his heart, Kalia, was kidnapped, and he is forced to be a puppet to keep her safe. Everything is at stake and the end is coming closer and closer, the final war. His end game has always been clear: Kill his father, kill the daughter, become King. What he didn’t expect…was her.
