Kelly
“Betty, I’m here!” I called out after I entered the house.
“Oh Kelly, I’m so glad you could come. I’m so sorry about this.” She said to me.
“It’s ok, hey buddy.” I said to the little boy hiding behind Betty.
He came out and ran right over to me. I gave him a big hug.
“They rescheduled my therapy appointment last minute. I’m so sorry.” Betty said.
“Don’t be sorry. It is ok, besides Austin is a great boss, he knows sometimes I may need to leave, he just doesn’t know the full story.” I told Betty.
“Still, I hate bothering you when I know you are at work.” Betty said.
“Betty, he is my son, you are not bothering me. I love being in his life. So I appreciate you calling me.” I told her.
She smiled at me and bent down to Xavier, “You be a good boy for your mama. And I will be back as soon as I can, little man.”
“Bye Grammy.” Little Xavier said to her.

Austin
“Where the heck is that stupid file?” I grumbled as I looked in the files on my computer.
There was a last minute add on meeting that happened after Kelly left for the day.
“Tonya, can you get in here?” I yelled from my desk.
The secretarial pool sent me up Tonya to replace Kelly for this afternoon. She is ok, but she is definitely not Kelly.
“You need me Mr Case?” She asked as she came to the door.
“Yeah, that meeting you added on, I can’t find the client file on this damn thing.” I motioned to the computer.
“Oh, that is because they are new prospective client. There is no file.” Tonya answered.
“Why am I meeting with some potential client?” I asked her.
“Because they are interested in selling you their company?” Tonya answered.
This is why I hate when Kelly needs to leave. She would have never scheduled this meeting. Potential clients go to Junior executives like Kevin first. They do the evaluations, not me.
I sigh and say, “Get Kevin Kincade up here now.”
“Yes sir.” Tonya said.
I need a drink. I opened up the bottom drawer of my desk and took out the whiskey bottle and glass I have in it. I remember coming to my father’s office and thinking it was funny that he hid this cut glass bottle of whiskey in his desk.
Now that I’m in his position, I can understand why he had it there. I continued the tradition. No more iced tea bottles, like what me and my brothers had in my parent’s pool house. Nope, I graduated to this fancy cut glass bottle now.
“Oh, that bad of a day?” Kevin said as he came through my door.
I was sipping my whiskey, and said, “Kelly had to go home early.”
“Ah, that explains Tonya. Has she flirted with you yet?” Kevin said as he came in and sat down at my desk.
“No, but the afternoon is still young. She can try all she wants, I don’t mix the office and pleasure.” I said to him.
“What did you call me up here for?” Kevin asked.
“Tonya scheduled a meeting for me with some new client that we know nothing about.” I said to him shrugging my shoulders.
“Oh boy, do we have any information at all?” Kevin asked.
“Nope, I have no idea what kind of business they have.” I told him.
“When is the meeting?” Kevin asked.
“Oh in about 45 minutes.” I told him.
“Give me a drink of that. What the hell was Tonya thinking?” Kevin sighed.
“I think she wasn’t Kevin, that’s why we have a huge problem right now.” I told him.
“Do you at least have a name for this company that we’re meeting about?” Kevin asked.
“Oh, that I can provide.” I told him.
“Ok, let me at your computer, let me see what I can find out for this studid meeting.” Kevin said getting up out of his chair.
I showed him my schedule and the name of the company that was on it. Kevin started punching away at my computer.
I walked over towards the file cabinet in the room, looking for an old blank contract that might be in there. Normally, I have things prepared but for this meeting, looks like I’m going old school with actually writing stuff out.
“Hmm, Austin, don’t think this company is a fit for Case Enterprises.” Kevin hummed from the computer.
“Why?” I asked turning from the file cabinet to look at him.
“Apparently it is an organic natural lubrication company.” Kevin said.
“What the hell? We are not in the adult industry. Why the hell would Tonya schedule this?” I said to him.
“That I can not answer, but the pumpkin spice lube is seasonal.” Kevin said.
“Seriously? There is pumpkin spice lube?” I asked coming closer to see the computer.
Sure enough, there was an ad for pumpkin spice lube on this company’s web page.
“I guess they really do make everything pumpkin spice.” I said.
“Wonder what that is like? I think the spice part would burn.” Kevin said.
“You try it out and let me know. Is that your job to investigate these companies?” I asked him, laughing.
“Oh, I wouldn’t mind investigating this. There is a girl I saw over at the club I think would be a willing participant in my investigation.” Kevin said.
“Maybe this company can leave some samples for us. I’m thinking I like the sound of the bing cherry lube, I’m more of a Cherry guy.” I said to him.
“Sounds like we got a plan after work today to hit the club and pick up some girls.” Kevin says.
“I should see if Antonio and Bryan want to join us.” I told him.
“The 4 stallions ride again.” Kevin laughed.
In college, Antonio and Bryan were my frat brothers. When Kevin got college, he ended up joining my frat and I actually became his big brother.
He had a huge breakup with his high school girlfriend Jaime, and since he was single and so were Bryan, Antonio, and myself, we called ourselves the 4 stallions.
“Sounds like a plan, but first let’s get this stupid meeting over and done with, god I hope they have some samples with them.” I said.
