Ashley always loved school, she loved learning about other shifters and magical beings besides werewolves. People always flocked to her because she was the Alpha's sister. Even though she was popular, she had a small circle of good friends. She entered the school and headed to the same locker she has had for the last four years. A new student or at least not one Ashley recognized was standing in front of her locker trying to open hers "Here, let me help" Ashley offered to the blonde-haired girl. "Thank you, I'm Jessa." the girl named Jessa said " Nice to meet you, Jessa, I'm Ashley" Ashley offered. The two girls finally got Jessa's locker opened " Thank you Ashley" Jessa warmly said smiling brightly. Ashley noticed how beautiful this girl was for the first time.
She had long curly blonde hair that fell down her back in ringlets. Her eyes were big, round gray orbs. She was shorter than Ashley, maybe by a few inches. She definitely wasn't a werewolf. "What species are you Jessa?" Ashley asked curiously. Jessa blushed, "I'm a fairy," she said. The height made sense, but Ashley hadn't seen a fairy with blonde hair and grey eyes before. She had only heard about them in her stories. "I'm new here" Jessa admitted which also made sense, she hadn't bombarded Ashley about whether or not her brother had found his mate yet.
Ashley made quick work of opening her locker, stuffing a few books and a lunch bag in there. "What classes do you have first, Jessa?" Ashley asked her. To both girl's surprise, Jessa had magical creatures for the first period, which was the same class Ashley had. "Why don't we walk together, I'd love to get to know more about you Jessa" Ashley offered. Jessa nodded "I'd like that," she said.
Both girls headed to their classroom on the third floor of the school talking and laughing as they went. Ashley found out that Jessa had just moved to Black Moon to live with her brother Jacob. "He's actually my stepbrother, my father remarried a werewolf after my mother passed away," Jessa said to Ashley. Ashley gave her an apologetic look. "So you're a fairy? How old are you?" Ashley asked. "Seventeen, my birthday is next Friday and I will officially ascend and come into my full powers," Jessa explained that most fairies know what type of fairy they are before they accent because of the environment they live in. But, Jessa's father moved around so much that she didn't know what region she came from.
The girls arrived at their first class when Ashley had an idea "I'm going to throw you a birthday party at the packhouse on Friday." she exclaimed. Jessa was pretty excited, she thought she'd be spending her birthday alone with her step-brother Jacob. "Thanks, Ashley. That would be amazing. I would like to be surrounded by people when I actually find out what type of fairy I actually am" Jessa said, pulling Ashley into a tight hug. Both Jessa and Ashley walked into the classroom and took their seats. Ashley invited Jessa to sit with her and her friends Mason, Clover, Clint and Nate. "Guys this is Jessa" Ashley announced to the group of students that we're sitting at the back of the classroom. "Hi Jessa," said Clover. Clover had orange hair and green eyes.
"She's a dragon," Ashley explained. Jessa marvelled at the other students Ashley was introducing her to. She found out that Clover and her twin brother Clinton or Clint as he liked to be called were dragons. Mason was a witch and Nate was a werebear. "Jessa here is a fairy" Ashley announced. The group chatted away and Jessa felt at peace for the first time in a long time. As she settled into class Jessa could feel her mind start to wander...
****Three weeks earlier ****
"Dad, why do I have to move in with Jacob? Why can't I just stay here with you and Mona?" Jessa asked her father.
"You're not safe here sweetie, all will be revealed when you turn eighteen, but I need you to trust me. Moving to be with Jacob is the only way" Jessa's father said with urgency in his voice. They quickly packed her belongings into her father's truck. Jessa hugged her stepmom. Mona used to be a rogue werewolf. When she met and fell in love with Jessa's father Archie. Jessa's mom died when she was a little girl and Mona was the first mother figure Jessa remembered.
"I love you, Jessa, be safe," Mona said to her stepdaughter. You see Jessa was the last of a powerful line of winter fairies. Her father had moved her around so much in hopes that he would be able to hide her identity from the King of the fire fairies who was desperate for his son Raul to rule over both the areas of the realm. Raul was ruthless and Jessa would be treated as a slave from what her father had learned. He wanted to spare Jessa the torture and resentment.
Once they were packed up, Jessa and her father made the long journey to the territory of Black Moon, the place Jacob had made a home. Jessa's father hoped that she would be able to come into her powers and meet her mate. Hopefully, Raul and his father would stop their search for her and everything would turn out to be okay.

Ashley looked at Jessa as she shook her shoulder a little, the bell to signify the end of class ringing in the background "Jessa, hello? It's the end of class" Ashley said, trying to get the attention of her new friend. Jessa blushed a little "Sorry something just popped into my head" she replied as she stood up, gathering her things and swiftly following Ashley out of the room.
The rest of the day went by very quickly, Jessa had lunch with Ashley and her group of friends. Many people had come up to Ashley asking her about someone named Alec. After class, while the girls were at their lockers. Jessa asked Ashley who Alec was. "Is he your boyfriend?" Jessa innocently asked. Ashley began to hysterically laugh. Jessa raised her eyebrow at Ashley's laughter "He's my older brother and Alpha of the Black Moon Pack" Ashley explained "You'll meet him Friday" she added closing her locker. "See you tomorrow Jessa," Ashley said, waving over her shoulder.
Ashley had a big party to plan for her new friend this Friday. She needed her brothers to help. She walked out of the school and down the front steps towards her big brother's black truck. She got to the truck and hopped in the front seat. "How was your first day Ash?" Alec asked as he backed the car up and drove out of the school's parking lot. "It was good, I made a new friend" Ashley explained to her brother about how she met Jessa this morning and that she's an unknown fairy. "An unknown fairy?" Alec asked his little sister as they drove back up the mountain. "She doesn't know which region she's from as her father moved around a lot apparently," Ashley explained.
"You'll meet her Friday," Ashley said to Alec
"What's happening Friday?" Alec asked back.
"Well, I told Jessa I would throw her a birthday party. At the packhouse " Ashley added
Alec rolled his eyes, he was actually a little intrigued to learn more about this unknown fairy friend of his little sisters. "So I guess we're having a party then" Alec announced, "We'll ask Ken and Nick to help us get everything ready. Is it going to be a big party or just the normal crowd?" Alec asked.
"I was thinking of inviting a lot of people, she ascends on Friday at midnight and I'm hoping the more people that are there the better chance she'll have at finding her mate," Ashley told her older brother. Alec nodded, this was not a bad idea. Maybe a party is just what he needed to find his mate too. The pair arrived back at the packhouse and quickly hustled inside. Alec had mind-linked Nate and Ken to meet them in the Alpha's office for when they got home.
"We're having a party Friday" announced Alex walking into his office, Nate was laying on the visitor's couch while Ken was standing behind the desk looking out the window. "Why?" they asked in unison. "Ashley is throwing a birthday party for her new friend who turns eighteen on Friday" he announced. Nick and Ken both nodded in agreement. They spent the next several hours getting a plan in place for Friday. Ashley was so excited, Alec was too but he wouldn't admit it. He was lonely, he wanted his mate. Jackie wasn't filling the void she once did. "I'm breaking up with Jackie tonight" he announced to the three of them. "Took you long enough man," Ken said first. Nick nodded his head in agreement with Ken's statement. "Nobody likes her, I don't know why she's still hanging around" Ashley added. He was aware that Jackie was only supposed to be a one-night stand, which turned into a summer fling out of frustration. It took hours but the group finally had a solid game plan for Friday. After the meeting, Alec decided he would call Jackie and have her come over so he could get this over with. He didn't want Jackie to interfere at his sister's party, or with him finding his destined mate.
